  1. I know its modelled after the real deal, button resistances and all. :D It's just a personal opinion of mine. They could have made them a bit less resistant to push. For my frail fingers... Then again I might just need to 'man up'. ;) Succellus I am not on AMD. The Maximus 2 mobo and Q9400 processor are Intel based. ;)
  2. Thanks for bringing this one back to the front again! I had it years ago, but it didn't run very well. Now with all the patching done and new hardware it has become a real gem. I even bought it a second time now, due to this thread, cause I can't find my old disk after moving homes. It's a great example of how some games can mature very VERY well!
  3. On topic though, I have now flown dozens of hours with my TM Warthog and for me it's the most stable and precise piece of hardware I have ever used on a computer. No glitches, rock solid and very smooth. The buttons could have used less effort to push in -in my view- but that's just a minor nitpick on my side. Overal a very good piece of kit and for me well worth its price. I guess I am lucky I never had ANY of the trouble or complaints some others had on these boards.
  4. Thanks! I'll check. What does EuP stand for?
  5. Well maybe there is some setting in the bios we can change to force the motherboard to kill power to the usb port? I'll see what I can find. You're lucky with that motherboard man! :)
  6. I have an ASUS Maximus 2 Gene mobo and even on complete shutdown the throttle stays illuminated with the new firmware too.
  7. I was just pulling your leg there, OhmWrecker. ;) It is a valid question I suppose.
  8. Thanks, but here's no reflection behind me. I think my TrackClip just goes out of view when I put my face towards the pc monitor to zoom in.
  9. Thanks for sharing that, but I don't really know how to translate most of those values to every usage benefits or limitations between the two units. I guess the wider FOV of the 5 is a nice to have, but then again, I never had any problems with the 4 either, except when zooming in, but thats bound to happen with the 5 as well, cause the increased FOV only provides for more sidewards coverage as I see it, not up/down. But I think I would go for the 5 as well if I would have to buy new or if my 4 would break down. Until then I am still more than happy with my 4.
  10. That name 'TouchBuddy' remains sounding awkward, even after this long. :D
  11. We're sorry sammyj. I read back and it already went awry on page 1! ;) At least you're introduced to the sensitivity about calling this a 'game' properly now! :D
  12. Ah right... Well if I ever lay my hands on another monitor I'll be buying the MFD panels too. It does seem to make your life a lot easier switching and controlling the different systems on board.
  13. In the reference to the manual above it is stated that they will illuminate an area of approx 500 meters on 1000ft altitude. Is the CCRP delivery method calibrated by 1000 ft by default? What will be the altitude to release them then? 1500ft? In other words, is there a way to discover how long it'll take for the parachuted to open?
  14. What are you planning? Theyre just covers, man. ;)
  15. Digital mistress... come to think of it I might even go for prostitute; We all cant resist buying, new toys to complement our sim experience, so dcs does take our money time and again to provide pleasure, doent it? ;)
  16. I couldnt tell you about upgrading to TIR5, but getting rid of the reflector that comes with the TIR and upgrading to a TrackClip Pro has made a huge difference in response from the unit. So I would try that first. Its cheaper and if your not getting the expected results you can always decide to get the TIR 5 and keep on using the clip with that. Win - Win in my book. :)
  17. I never realised they are only the frames with the buttons, not actual displays... odd to name them MFD's us it not? They do seem handy though.
  18. I think we do, at least I do for sure, but the fact of the matter is that its no use because I spend far too much time with thr WH. So the wife needs to find alternative ways to warm up. Hence the inquiry from her about the covers. :)
  19. I suspect you missed the irony here. ;) The age old discussion again, gents. Good points being made here, but its an endless discussion because it depends on how you technically use the words 'sim' and 'game'. By the definition of both words DCS is both. Heck, even Simcity is both; its made for entertainment purposes and yet it simulated real life workings or aspects of things. Effectively making it both a game and a sim in the most general sense of the word. But I dont think thats the intent of the discussion when we look at highly detailed packages like DCS. The question is, though, wether we should look differently at products like DCS? Isn't this just a game and a sim as well at the end of the day, despite most of us thinking its a special piece of software simulating something most of us dont see on an every day basis. Isnt that what makes it so special for most? But isnt it meant for entertainment, so a game by definition as well?
  20. Right, I misunderstood then. I thought the MAN REVERSION switch was only a maintenance operable switch e.g. while on the ground. Sounded a bit weird there and then already, so I am glad I asked. ;) Thanks!
  21. They are very cool man. Thank you for providing the service! The wife already asked why I do provide for the stick to be warm during these cold days, but I refuse to get into bed early to keep her warm as well... :pilotfly::joystick: ;)
  22. Got mine already. So it only took about 5 days to get here. Excellent quality! Thanks for the quick dispatch!
  23. Interesting, this! If I understand correctly we have only talked about maintenance actions on the ground so far, but what happens if you loose both hydraulic systems in the air? I'm sure it cant be possible that the control stick stays locked in roll, can it? How would the pilot save his butt then, ejecting? Is there no backup ie redundancy like on passenger jets?
  24. Or was it '(...)in a way your fly has never experienced' , I can't remember... :megalol: What happens on trip, stays on trip indeed.
  25. That would be a sight to behold; three guys in a coffeeshop putting three WH HOTAS units on the bar and starting to wiggle their sticks... :megalol:
