That does not reflect my initial thought. On the contrary. The first thing I thought to myself was "Wow, look at the speed sensation!". Honestly.

Still, the new X65F HOTAS has been advertised with one of the selling points that it supports the Pro Panels. I can hardly believe this combat stick is aimed specifically at FSX. Meaning it would be a fair bet to say they will be supported by future DCS modules perhaps if they don't work right now. (purely speculation of course)

Don't Walk...Run Away from the G940
Yskonyn replied to ericinexile's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Exactly my point about "feedback seems to be dying slowly". We're in the same situation as late october as far as feedback goes and with so many question marks and people being dissatisfied you would expect feedback and support going full steam ahead, which would result in feedback on the various sim forums as well. Nothing anymore for the past weeks. -
Don't Walk...Run Away from the G940
Yskonyn replied to ericinexile's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
The feedback on the device seems to be dying slowly. I hope this is good news and people are actually happy. I saw there's version .08 now of the software. Does it have any improvements? -
What's up with all the negativity, gentlemen? First everyone screams fire and ice that LO still needs a patch. Then there's an announcement of LO getting a major release early next year, even at a ridiculously low price (which is GOOD! ;) ), but yet some are already doomsaying that LO is a lost cause and there will be nothing but problems with the integration of DCS and its future modules. It's all speculation. Cut it out. Right now, we know that FC 2 will arrive and will be compatible with DCS Black Shark as far as multiplayer goes. Be happy that 1) FC gets an update and 2) we can play missions together. What will happen with future DCS modules and LO remains to be seen. There are no statements of any kind about that, so stop speculating. It's a long way off. HOW the technical bit of MP integration goes is something for the devs to worry about. They do know their jobs, you know. I think its superb that FC gets an update AND becomes MP compatible with BS (meaning 'Black Shark' not to confuse with 'Bull Shit' ;) ).

No that wasn't what I said either. The website just has the announcement about the AC-130, that's all. It's just great that DCS might benefit greatly from the TBS development, that all. And that's all real, sobek. ;)
-
Superb! Rep inbound!
-
You weren't wrong after all, it seems. Although the AC-130 module is developed for TBS (see other thread). The military spec simulator that The Fighter Collection produces for the armed forces. I know it was already stated above, more or less, but it didn't make sense to me until I read the TBS thread. I never even knew the guys were also developing armed forces apps. Looks very cool, that sim. Let's hope DCS will benefit greatly from the development of TBS.
-
On their website they also reveal a AC-130 module in the works, so the guy in the other forum wasn't wrong at all. It's great news. This has a lot in common with Steel Beasts (the mechanized combat sim) where the consumer versions rides alongside the military version getting more features over time implemented in the consumer version from the mil version. :D Good!

I use a Sennheiser headset with mic attached. Oddly there's no model number on the thing anywhere... If you look at the Sennheiser website and go to the Professional Gaming headsets the ones you see there resemble mine (albeit different details because of newer models). It's a very nice headset with great bass response and clear mid/high sounds and the mic is a handy extra. The TrackClip Pro clicks nicely on the strap and all devices are on one side (meaning Trackclip and Mic, which do not interfere with eachother).
-
In that case I stand corrected, sir. ;) Physics also impact FPS and because graphics wise DCS:BS isn't THAT much better than FC I thought you were talking flightmodels here. :joystick: :D
-
LOL! Yeah and be sure to send us some 'screenshots' then! ;)
-
This is highly unlikely. GG already responded above to a question asking wether the flight models would be at the level of the new Su-25 added in FC (1). The response was "No". Unless this was meant as a "No, even better" I think we can assume that the new flightmodels will NOT be as high fidelity as Black Shark's, but just improved over their old flightmodels.

http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=47144 Read here and provide feedback! Personally I think this is a perfect move for DCS: BS to get MP fired up! Now we can create massive operations where players can take different parts in it! How cool is that!? With all the hardware announced and now this; Sim Revival!

Functional in Windows 7 32bit or 64bit?
Yskonyn replied to mdubeux's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Indeed, because its still an 32bit application. Maybe, just maybe there will be an 64bit executable around the A-10 module, but nothing is promised as of yet. As far as BS goes; runs flawlessly on Win 7 64-bit. :) -
Perfect stick for A-10C from Thrustmaster?
Yskonyn replied to some1's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Right, I am being thick here, sorry, because I remember now this was already said in a different thread as well. FFB still seems to have the 'holywood effects' reputation among serious simmer and apparently, manufacturers. Is that because the simulation of FFB is that bad or just because its hampered by its reputation due to a repeating circle? I for one, would like to be able to feel the trim forces in BS, feel the buffet onset before a stall in an aircraft or feel the rumble of the guns in my stick when I fire. (I haven't actually flown a single virtual hour with a FFB mind you, just in real aircraft where feedback from the aircraft is also part of the sensory data collection the pilot does) -
Perfect stick for A-10C from Thrustmaster?
Yskonyn replied to some1's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Yeah a buttkicker would be awesome if it would give the sensation of the GAU firing! :) Nice find for the simshop there, Feuer. Thank you very much! They also have a supposed release date for the X65F -> Feb 15th 2010, so that one is a little off still as well. I guess we'll have to wait until somewhere into 2010; -Then the durability tests of the G940 have been submitted by many users. -TM, Saitek and possibly CH will come with a new HOTAS. For now my trusty X52 has to behave a little longer it seems. :) -
Perfect stick for A-10C from Thrustmaster?
Yskonyn replied to some1's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Yeah you've got a point, but it wouldn't be wise from a marketeer's standpoint to make a teaser without revealing more details not too long after that. That makes me think TM's product will be here before CH's. You have a very good point as well about the Logi gear; I, for example, already have a CH Pro Pedals which I use in conjunction with my Saitek X52, so an extra rudder pedals I don't need. Therefore the Logitech kit only becomes a consideration if they decide to sell the gear in modules as well. I have looked at CH's flightstick and throttle, but 1) they're hard to get here in Holland and 2) I am undecided about the relevance of FFB on my next stick. In BS its very handy and in IL-2 (no reason not to expect their next game SOW to have FFB support as well) its nice as well (eventhough I dont have a FFB stick now) as I've experienced not too long ago at a friend's. So I wonder wether CH's stick will have FFB. I am also not really sure about the X65F having FFB either now that I think of it... The pressure sensor stuff is another thing I am skeptical about as well, but I must see and feel first, before I make up my mind. :) Like I said; difficult choices! -
Perfect stick for A-10C from Thrustmaster?
Yskonyn replied to some1's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I didnt list that one because there's no info on a consumer version at all. Only that one is planned somewhere along the line. TM, Saitek and Logi will have theirs available (In the case of Logi its already here) before CH will have theirs from the looks of it at the moment. You can, of course, argue about TM, though. But then again a teaser hints at something to come in the not too distant future, whereas CH hasn't promised anything yet let alone provided a teaser of any sort. So I personally dont think this CH stick is here around xmas. -
Perfect stick for A-10C from Thrustmaster?
Yskonyn replied to some1's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
The choice for a replacement for my old X52 gets more difficult by the day! -Logitechs G940 -TM's Warthog HOTAS -Saitek's X65F I will be sure to hold off buying until more info and pre/re-views are available for all products! Nice X-Mas this is going to be! -
Did you move to Win7? Report in please.
Yskonyn replied to Flyby's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I went to Win 7 Ultimate (for the multi language support) 64-bit edition (but you get both 32 and 64 bits in any retail pack) last week and I have no regrets. Some files are indeed locked until you grant them access by a user, but I believe this was also the case in Vista. If you run into deleting problems, just browse the net and you'll find how to unlock easily. System stability and performance is top notch so far and I haven't run into any compatibility issues yet. Drivers seem to be widely available as well, even for older hardware. -
But does the stick stay rigid in principle or is there a certain 'travel' in all axis with these systems? In other words; will the stick stay upright under pressure or will to move slighty in the direction you push it to give inputs to the force sensors? If its the latter it wouldn't be too different I guess.
-
Yeah the longer I was thinking about it, the more I came to your conclusion as well. The question will then be HOW awkward this force sensing will be for computer simulations. Note that I am not questioning force sensing to be the thing for real platforms (aircraft in this case), but there you will have feedback from the platform as well, meaning movement of the aircraft. I just think it might be awkward sitting in front of your monitor with a rigid stick... (no lowly jokes please :D )
