  1. ... when you leave the gas station and think to yourself, 'well, that was easy.'
  2. Thanks--was just what I was looking for!
  3. If the airbase doesn't have a tacan, use the last waypoint, or initial position waypoint, or search CDU for airport name waypoint. Works the same as the TACAN--just choose "Steerpoint" instead of TACAN button on nav panel.
  4. what a waste of steaks
  5. I thought steering between airframes was only possible via TACAN? Thats how we find a tanker-but don't think u can assign channel to any other kind of aircraft in mission editor.

    TCN and ILS

You could still use your last waypoint in flight plan. Choose steerpoint and EGI on control panel and you'll get bearing and range on HSI. Only thing I can think of would be if you lose avionics--lose CDU or something--then at least you'll have TACAN to get home.

So really there is no good reason to use the TACAN? It provides range with DME (distance measuring equipment), but you can get the same by selecting steerpoint (final). Well, I guess it could come in handy in case of avionics failure...

    TCN and ILS

With ILS and TACAN selected, I wonder if the CDI will still guide to runway heading if you manually input a course with the course knob, or if it even allows you to change it with the course knob. Have to check this next time I'm doing an approach--
  9. As far as utilizing mark points when getting the final approach fix from ATC--sort of ruins the fun I guess--but it's always 10miles out on the runway heading. If you have your tacan tuned to the airport, just wait until the range on the HSI says 10miles, put RMI needle #1 at the 9 o'clock position on the HSI and keep it there. You'll basically be flying a circle, or arc, around the airport. All you have to do is wait until you intercept the runway heading, then turn towards the airport. At that point, you'll be precisely where ATC directed you.
  10. Speed--thanks for the tips. While following your troubleshooting advice, I figured it out. See solution below. FYI-- the "ON REFUEL" Event will trigger when you actually get a connection to the tanker. The "ON REFUEL STOP" will trigger when there is a disconnect from tanker. So basically with the example below, the system will evaluate the second digit of the fuel digital readout for a value of 9 everytime the pilot disconnects from tanker. If the pilot successfully refuels he will have 09400 lbs of fuel, which will then trigger the activation of the AFAC. If they can't refuel, they get no AFAC :joystick: TRIGGER TYPE: 2 CONTINUOUS NAME: EVENT: ON REFUEL STOP CONDITION TYPE: X: COCKPIT ARGUMENT IN RANGE argument: 91 MIN: 0.9 MAX:1 ACTION ACTION: GROUP ACTIVATE GROUP: AFAC
  11. Thanks for suggestions--will give it a try.
  12. I'm trying to activate a group (group is called AFAC) only when the player successfully refuels. I created the following trigger: TRIGGER TYPE: 2 CONTINUOUS NAME: EVENT: ON REFUEL CONDITION TYPE: X: COCKPIT PARAM EQUAL TO PARAM: FUEL-QTY-1000 VALUE: 9 ACTION ACTION: GROUP ACTIVATE GROUP: AFAC I can't seem to get it to work. I think my problem is that I've got the wrong PARAM. I looked at the word document that has all of the cockpit arguments, but don't know which column in word file to reference: Meaning = Fuel QTY Indicator - digital readout, 1000.0 lb Arg num = 91 Clickable element geometry name = FUEL-QTY-1000 I thought it would be FUEL-QTY-1000? When I'm done refueling I end up with 9400 lbs of fuel, which is why I used a value of "9" in the condition statement. I start mission with around 5500 lbs. I also created a message to all action to eliminate any possible problem with the AFAC group ( I set AFAC group to start 20 hours later than mission start time). The group doesn't activate, and I never get the text message. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
  13. Actually, my vote is for best A-10C takeoff. AWESOME. Love how you actually tried to take off from the parking area, but then actually did end up crossing the runway at one point. Joystick advice--just go to best buy and get the cheapest one. If you end up really geeking out on flight sims, like most of us here on these boards, then you can get something better--
  14. rep comin' your way buddy. stomach is hurting from laughing so hard. The best part though, was seeing you actually get better, especially the startup! You are so hooked. Admit it.
  15. thanks EtherealN
  16. I've often wondered why they didn't continue on with the ka-50, and even more so, why they did continue with the alligator, which I thought, was basically just a trainer.
  17. Not to mention "But I like the new center trim option. I don't know why you can't fly with it."
  18. What's funner than running and gunning with the Ka-50? Doing it with your wife in the Ka-52!!!
  19. Just thought I'd mention it. I put Ka-52 in bold, in order to emphasize it was not the Ka-50. However--I would argue that the Ka-52 is more relevant to the Ka-50 than the Mi-28. I believe the Ka-52 has a dual rotor configuration, like the Ka-50 ;)
  20. The Ka-52 has that capability apparently-- from aviastar.org AVIONICS: Integrated by Sextant Avionique, supplier of head-down displays, the Navigation and Attack System for Helicopters (NASH), Topowl helmet-mounted sight display, Nadir 10 navigation system. Radar: Phazotron FH-01 Arbalet MMW radar installed in mast-mounted dome. Flight: Nadir 10 nav system with Stratus laser gyro AHRS and Doppler radar. Instrumentation: Arsenal Shchel-V helmet-mounted sight for weapons operator. Mission: Samshit-E weapons control system above and behind the second cockpit, with TV, FLIR and laser range-finder and target designator. Thomson-CSF FLIR (or optional Russian Khod FLIR) integrated with Shkval electro-optical (TV) sighting system in ball above fuselage aft of canopy. Smaller ball for optical sight under fuselage. Windows for laser range-finder and IR camera in nose turret. Self-defence: Active IR and electronic jamming units; UV-26 flare/chaff dispensers in wingtip fairings. Warning equipment includes Pastel (L150) RWR, Mak (L136) IR and Otklik (L140) laser system.
  21. if I'm using the Cockpit Parameter is equal to statement--what do I put for the parameter--the relevant description text in first row of excel spreadsheet--or the argument number? I know what to put for the value--
  22. deleted--had a theory here, but was wrong. Nevermind!
  23. I never actually understood what the "pass-through" does. Is it just a fancy name for optical output?
  24. have you tried changing fuel flow setting? I recall reading something about it increasing engine power--but not recommended.
  25. as was your indication as to what particular part you don't understand.
