  1. A thread titled "I am having trouble with my missiles missing, what am I doing wrong?" would have been a lot more productive Sixer. By now you would have been given enough infomation & tactics by various people & squads to increase your skills (and kill score) a lot in any plane. And you would have learned that the Mig & Su's are deadly with correct tactics. All missiles ingame are very effective when used properly. And yes, talk to the 169th, 44th, 77th, RVE, 504th and other squads who develop tactics, You might actually learn something and you will find most are friendly & willing to share. Cheers
  2. Yeah, I did the same, & mapped some other keys that were not being used. My Rwin has never been recognised by the game or joystick, I think it may be a common issue. K is another spare key which can be reprogrammed. Cheers
  3. Hi Cliff & welcome to Lockon. If the frames are dropping while you are shooting it may be Force feedback (even without a FF stick) causing some of the slowdown. Go to C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Eagle Dynamics\Lock On\Config (or whatever it is in 1.02) & locate the Producer cfg file. Change to ForceFeedbackEnabled = false; Other things: Run in windowed mode if game resolution same as desktop. (disable Full screen) Turn down some graphic settings, Vis range to low makes a big difference. (Someone else may know if the graphic settings in the campaigns & missions are locked in 1.02, If so you will need to edit the missions) Defrag computer, latest drivers & all that jazz. Good luck.
  4. Bumpety bump
  5. Hi tactikalwarfare & welcome to Lockon. Yeah there are a few buttons to remember, but with those extra buttons comes more reality & immersion. You can print out a keyboard actions list from your docs folder in lockon. One thing I have always done with complex flight sims is to cut a keyboard overlay out of stiff cardboard. I make it about 4 cms below the spacebar & 11 cms above the F keys and about 1.5 either side. Cut around all the keys so it sits relatively flat on your keyboard. Neatly mark the key positions & draw boxes to represent the buttons then right the description in those boxes. The space between the numbers & F keys I use for qwertyuiop, Below the keypad do the lower two lines ie: asdfghjkl;' zxcvbnm,./. On the top part of the overlay I neatly draw tables for other things in different catigories ie: cockpit modes, autopilot modes, 25T commands & various other stuff. These "lookup" tables make life a lot easier when you are looking for a command that you havnt used in a while. It takes about an hour and a half with a stanley knife & ruler to make one of these, and worth it. But make it neat. Of course the easier option is to get a joystick with a bucketload of buttons, hats, sliders & rotators on it, so you can just assign all your commands, then you just have to learn the joystick (which is easier). A Saitek X45 or X52 is a cheap way of doing this. Whatever you end up doing, you WILL get used to the commands eventually and will find this to be a very rewarding sim to fly. Enjoy :)
  6. LOL, great vid. Here's a little beauty I found today, not in english, but I am sure you will get the idea. http://www.youtube.com/w/172%20km/h%20by%20bicycle?v=gih0uVbZxV8 Ouch!
  7. Hi. It will be interesting to see what comments come out of this. I had to vote for "Either way". With the AWACS, presents a different challenge to the pilot as your enemy does know where you are. Its up to you adjust your tactics accordingly. The "Lone Shark" pilot would have a harder time, while the team players would just have to adjust their tactics a bit. In my opinion, with AWACS's is harder than without. Without AWACS allows taking out multiple bandits from above or below without them having any idea where that missile came from. Yes, that is fun and looks great on the scoreboard, but probably doesnt require as much skill. Sneaky tactics work better without the AWAC. So to me, its either way, I can enjoy both, & find teamwork will give you the advantage with or without the AWAC in the mission. My 2c. Cheers
  8. Yeah sorry, I cant say how large ED is, was including all Beta-Testers.
  9. Some excellent maps by 169th_Ice. http://169thpanthers.net/Forums/index.php?showtopic=478 Cheers
  10. Yeah I am another with a lot of hours in LB2 & eagerly looking forward to Black Shark. I cannot & will not speak for ED But I do know that work is still being done on the 1.12 patch. So a certain amount of resourses in the office are being spent getting the current game up to scratch. As far as I know, this patch was never planned, and is a response from us (the buying public) requesting fixes in these forums. This is very commendable for a developer to actually care enough about it's customers to get rid off all the bugs it can before releasing any more addons. I know of other games/developers that dont really give a sh#t & just want to release addon after addon for the income. If this work means that Black Shark falls behind schedule, so be it. I know that ED will not release it untill it is ready & they are happy with the product. So be positive, be patient. It is coming. Once 1.12 patch is released, I imagine all of ED's resourses will be poured into 1.2 & you should see a lot of Multiplayer Beta testing happening in Hyperlobby. There may be very few bugs which would mean a quick release :), there may be some large ones that take time to fix, who knows. There is a large team behind this project, and all want it to be successfull & will do whatever it takes to get it right. Maybe it will be out by March, maybe it wont, one thing for sure....... "It will be ready when it's ready." Meanwhile enjoy the game as it is, and dont get too caught up in the hype. 1.2 Black Shark will be worth the wait. Cheers Rastus
  11. LOL, Yep that's us.
  12. Mmmm, Cant imagine Taipan "cheating". He is a real genuine nice guy. I take it you have a screen shot that shows that he was loaded with aim120's, so it would not have been a "Lope" cheat. Just the fact that his missiles were invisable. If it was a meinit fault there isnt much we can do about this, If the loadout wasnt saved or there is a bug, that should be something we can reproduce in a test. Would be interested to know if anyone else has seen this "invisable missile" fault.
  13. Sorry Viper but nobody knows when it will be out. Simple as that. Rest assured it IS being worked on. :)
  14. Is there a file we could change or edit to classify loadouts? Maybe copy a file from our 1.1 backup's & overwrite into 1.11 without screwing the game? Nobody wants to take away from offline players & nobody has suggested doing so, & some MP missions are great with open loadouts. It would be nice if it was up to the mission writer or the server to decide if a mission needs a locked loadout. In 1.02 you couldnt host a heaters mission without someone coming in with actives, It happened a lot & I for one dont like kicking people. Especially some new guy who just didnt read the mission name, brief or understand the loadouts screen. There are some very skilled mission editors in this community that enjoy creating well balanced missions for many to enjoy. It would be great if there was an easy way to give them the ability to lock the payloads again, if they felt the mission needed it. Is there a way of achieving this? A simple file exchange or edit would be ideal so as to give people a choice without taking anything away from anyone. BTW I think ED & the Beta-testers team did a great job with 1.11. <SALUTE>
  15. Yeah Kenan, Save up & buy a Track IR. You will love it. Meanwhile..... Are you using the hat between button B & C? Does it feel normal ie. does it click when you move it? I had my 52 pulled apart to fix a dicky rudder pot the other day, If you are mechanically minded you could pull the stick apart & check that the rear of the switch is located in the circuit board correctly & that the trigger spring hasn't jumped out of it's little holder & causing a short. Only do this if you are confident, if not, dont try it as you may not get the stick back together again. Good luck
  16. Why delete lockon key assignments? Print out the keycommands doc in lockon (Docs) then spend a bit of time programming the required keystrokes into your joystick profile editor. Once all your keystrokes are programmed it's easy to assign them to whatever button on the joystick you want. Dont try to put every command into the joystick, just the ones you need "inflight". I dont mind looking down to the keyboard for some nav & view commands, and have everything I need inflight like all radar, missile systems, defence, everything I need in a hurry programmed. This will fill up your buttons, even using the pinky as a shift. You will need to program the Axis stuff ingame Pitch: Axis 1 Roll: Axis 0 Rudder: Rotator 2 Thrust: Axis 2 On the throttle the slider is "slider 0" and the Rotators are "rotator 0 & 1". I have one mode for the 25T one for normal BVR/Ground attack one spare for the helecopter (1.2 Black shark) I highly recommend making your own profiles as you will learn the profiler program better this way Back to the point, You dont need to delete the ingame keystrokes, Just program them into your profiler. Works fine. Cheers Rastus
  17. Please post a pic or two if you get it going. Shame I live in another time zone as it would be fun to do. Lag wouldnt be an issue if you talked one of the squads into letting you borrow their server. Good luck & hope you pull it off. Plenty of screenshots please Cheers Rastus
  18. Dont be afraid to ask questions in hyperlobby. There is a bunch of very experienced pilots usually hanging around who were once noobs & understand what it's like. I am confident in saying that every one of these pilots are willing to help. Just ask. You may get 1 on 1 help or a bit of training, you may be told to look at a specific training track, but if you dont ask well......... In hyperlobby we spend a fair amount of time helping people with technical questions already, and a lot of problems are fixed this way. Most of the people there do care about the community & want it to grow. So if you have any questions, if you were having trouble in that game you were just in, please ask, if nobody can help, ask again later when there are some other pilots logged in. You WILL get help. Cheers 169th_Rastus
  19. You bet ! I spent a lot of hours in Longbow 2 & have been constantly dissapointed with the arcade hele sims that have come out since. And then came lockon. The amount of enjoyment 1.1 has given me has made the small cost of purchasing it, & the large cost of upgrading my computer so I could play it, seem pitifull. I would buy it with no hesitation, Keep up the great work ED
  20. I have programmed "Level flight" (Alt 3) & "Autopilot disengage" (Alt 9) into my joystick. During the egress from the danger area (usually once my laser is too hot) I use it to re-trim the aircraft ready for the next run into the target. Works for me, & and on the joystick, its quick & easy to use.
  21. <SALUTE> ED, You do great work, Have always done great work, and I look forward the the great work you will produce in the future. Thankyou 169th_Rastus
  22. Luke97, sorry but online players do not suffer from these problems on any regular basis. Track ir's 1,2,& 3 do go haywire occassionally, Most people suffer that online or off. (a small price to pay) Taking a long time to load is usually RAM related but you seem to have enough. Online games do take longer to load. U sure your computer memory is set up correctly? or something else isn't using up your ram or system resources. There are a lot of computer knowledgable people in HL who may be able to help you with online issues. Back to subject: Thanks for the update, Looking forward to it with eager anticipation. Great work ED :)
  23. Actually with the Helmet mounted sight you will not give a warning to your opponent if, before locking you only see a "T" on the left of your hud (no "P"). after locking your target (with heat missiles selected) you can press the "I" button for IFF without any warning. Look for the "F" (friend) on the left HUD. EOS mode works simmilar, you must be sure to have IR missiles selected before locking & IFF. Best thing is to find a friend online & practice against each other, letting each other know when you hear a warning. Do NOT fire any missile without knowing for sure who you are firing against.
  24. I suggest to those who are bored with the missions to come online & fly in hyperlobby. There seems to be a trend towards combined air & ground missions being hosted at the moment by several servers, and they are awesome missions. I have experienced everything that is being talked about, in regards to DC missions, online. Yes you do get calls for help & need to divert. Due to human players, a mission is never the same twice. Most of the missions are fairly hard & require multiple (combined) strikes with CAP support. SEAD work & even the "Wild Weasel" are all a part of completing your objectives. With comms programs like Teamspeak or Ventrilo you can experience the teamwork & interaction that no DC can ever produce Yeah, a DC would be nice for offline play but it probably wont happen. I was the same as some of you, just playing the same missions occassionaly trying to make them harder. Now that I fly online, the CD lives in my drive again & I get that satisfaction I was looking for when flying this awesome simm. Cheers Rastus PS. Hanging out for the hele, looks great so far. Any more pics available?
  25. And even the Frogfoot server has been making an appearence every now & then. This is a good server for a/g as you can have a great time with only a few online & ingame. Last night 3 of us cleaned up the map & had a ball, a feeling of teamwork, & a job well done, makes for fun flying on a quiet night in HL. On a busy night the 504, & 169th Miniwar missions get a great turnout with combined A/G & A/A missions which promote teamwork between the groundpounders & air to air assets. Enjoy. PS, Thanks Frogfoot for hosting, good to see you back. More please :)
