Laptops, LO, USB and the like :D
SuperKungFu replied to Black_Hawk's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
lucky for you, i actually experience an upgrade from 2.1 to 2.4 GHz, it does reduce the stutters and really helpful during graphic intensive situation. However, if you haven't felt anything faster since your desktop, then you wouldn't notice it since this would all be a big improvement- so you could go for a 2.1. However, i do feel like you should get the 7200 rpm HD since loading times and such would all improve. Not only for Lock On, but your overall computer. -
Laptops, LO, USB and the like :D

sounds like you might be getting a 15 inch laptop since it only has 3 usb ports. I can't comment on the usb hubs because my laptop has 6 usb since its a 17 in, but I do want to comment about one of your specs: you hard drive running at 5400 rpm. This would significantly slow down a computer, 5400 rpm is utter crap. My suggestion, get the cheapest HD they offer on that laptop (if you haven't bought it already) and go to newegg.com and buy one that's 7200 rpm. -
very nice! can't wait to see it, when it goes it, its going to be in my favorites for sure. Rep inbound.

Northrop F-5E Model Soon finished.
SuperKungFu replied to shaggy's topic in 3D Modeling for DCS World
Amazing work guys, keep it up, Can't wait to install it. I do agree with some of the previous post about damage model, I hope one day you guys find a chance to add this critical feature. Yea its very hard to create a good damage model. Also, you can't create some radical new damage like specific parts falling off. We experimented with this in the A-10 model. We found that even though we created a new damage such as 1 engine falling off, in the game its hard to trigger it. So my suggestion is to study the stock F-5 model and find its break points. And improve on those damage areas. Good luck to you guys, if you need a beta tester, I'm always around. I've been beta testing for SIM-MOD, ED, VNAO...etc. -
lol, still cool nonetheless. So thanks for bringing up this sim.

lol I'm getting there's no damage model, otherwise i would do all sorts of crazy stuff.

Mugatu, how much did you pay for your macbook pro?

angling the pylons might be a bit tricky, I believe in the meinit.xml file each pylon can have a variable named FiZ which allows to rotate payload around horizontal transverse axis. FiZ variable can be added to any pylon. Try searching for FiZ in MEInit.xml. We haven't explored this yet at sim-mod so if you do manage to get it to work, please do share.

dunno yet, I assume the 9xxx series will take a while before it enters laptops. They run at a pretty high temperature so it might cause laptops some problems. the highest I had seen was an 8800, I have an 8600 GT in my laptop.

Menu music F/A-18 and intro music from "Great Planes"
SuperKungFu replied to Odin_Norway's topic in Chit-Chat
Yea I have the Great Planes series and I know what you are talking about. The famous discovery channel badass song intro. I heard it for a couple of planes, the F-18 was one of them, another was the F-4 phantom (but not from the great planes series) Although the youtube link was not the one i was thinking about, that's the ending, not the intro. But I don't know the song title, i tried doing a search for it but never found it. If you have any luck, please do share. -

sony was originally know for its quality and stuff, but my pro's laptop paint quality is already starting to fade and such, and its expensive as hell. Basically, you are paying just for the brand. Apple, some people prefer apple but again, its expensive as well. I can't really comment on the others except dell. I have the Dell Inspiron 1720, the specs are in my sig. It runs lock on pretty well and i like it here's a pic of it If you get the dell, I can provide some dell coupons on this site http://www.notebookreview.com/dellCoupon.asp Those coupons change every week so it fits a variety of needs. So you could get a fairly decent laptop for a good price. All the best. but one advice, if you are going to have it for school like I did for college, a 17 inch laptop is pretty heavy. But I bring it anyway because it can play lock on lol. Cheers and good luck.

Patch 1.13 Requested Features/Fixes List (*Merged)
SuperKungFu replied to Colt40Five's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I just have 2 request fix - whenever you go into options menu, it won't screw up the widescreen ratio and it won't screw up the trackir have better vista support - the sound it utterly horrible in vista. Those two simple things is enough to make me happy for a while. -
yea I played world in conflict, but I really like to build my units and have my own base, and command and conquer generals was the last that that could provide that with modern military.

it doesn't matter for people who have 64 bit, most games are still in 32 bit format. If a company made it for 64 bit computers only, that would be extremely stupid since only the 64 bit people could play.

I think gozr was refering to deadman.

hey I'm just the translator lol But from what I know, structure models such as bridges, factories, buildings...etc The limits are: up to 100-200 meters: 10,000 faces 1 kilometer - 1000 faces over 1 kilometer - 100 faces or less. So hopefully some of this info helps, don't know the details about vehicles or aircraft.

Translated version: This information is not a secret. The model's poly count is within ED's requirements.

HAPPY BDAY X-MAN! hope you have a good one!

I in no way represent DCS. But DCS still offers the best "realistic" graphic in ANY flight sim genre. Its terrain is mapped out to exactly what it is of the real black sea area, even right down to the soccer fields. Its new models with its realism and damage model beats any other flight sim genre, including AC6. And besides, its a lot easier said than done by saying create a new graphics engine. It takes months and years to develop a good game engine. In addition, you have to think about their point of view. Its a supply and demand market out there. there's a wide variety of PCs out there, so its a lot harder for PC industry since not everyone is running on the same specs like the console games. Not everyone can spend a couple grand to buy the best computers to run games. So if a game developer create a very very graphic intensive game, only a few percentage of the population could play it. and if that happens, the company would go backrupt because no one could or would play. So its not wise for a company to push too hard on graphics. What makes a game great is its gameplay, not graphics ;)

Yea that's true, but check out how the Su-25s fires the Vikhr missile, they actually spin haha. Its pretty cool to see that.
