  1. ...you think that you need to shutdown and sleep in order to go to work, and when you shutdown the sim you see that it is already time to go to work!
  2. Well, it depends... (ok, great answer... very helpful... :D) If you wanted to have 100% realism, then one should always carry one Maverick under each wing, to avoid tire damage on the long run or having the TGP burned by a lauching missile. I even posted it as a Wish List feature for DCS: A-10. On the other hand, however, in real life you would have lots of assets doing "cover work" for you: SEAD & DEAD flights, stand-off jamming, etc. I don't know to which extent a pilot cannot change the payload he will carry, maybe he could at least protest or suggest (that's the right word) some modifications regarding the mission and the inteligence available on the target. Anyway, my opinion is that if you feel it is cheating by modifying the payload itself, maybe you could try and add some other flights to help you out, paving the way to make it easier for you and your team. P.S.: I was playing the Raiding River mission last night and, gosh, how I wanted to have some HARMs to take that damn Sa-11 which kept tracking and launching all the time. It is a shame the A-10 cannot carry them and that there were no SEADs flights available...
  3. Thanks to all. But WariorX got it right. The problem is in the Mission Editor, and how the mission designer set the options. I flew other mission with my own modifications on the Editor to allow it to give external views and such, and now it works ok. This is a great game. Every time I go up I fly for three, four hours. Amazing. The other day I always had to sleep till late. Good side of not being working. But now I'm working, there's a downside (less A-10 hours), the good side being able to buy a new video card (my 4550 barely runs it, and still, looks beautifully). Great game.
  4. Not all external views are presenting this problem. Only ones are F2 - external aircraft and F7 - View released weapon. Thanks WarriorX. I'll try that. I'm playing the Instant Action Georgia Spring Easy mission. I'll see if the problem is related to some of the things you noted. Thanks again.
  5. Yep, after 60 days off of my beloved A-10, I'm back. The level of flight simulator in my blood stream was very low. Now, I took the chance to install a Win 7 Home Premium-64 bit and the last patched version of the sim and I gotta say the game runs more smothly, no CTDs whatsoever and it does look beautiful (ok, I like the eye candy...). And all that in my system which is, for now, very low end (2 GB RAM, ATI 4550), and the game runs perfectly. But not all is fun and games. When I hit the F6 button I don't get a view of the released weapon. Also, and more importantly, I can't find my wingman. I remember on Betas when you hit F2 you could see all the nearby aircrafts in sequence, now I can't. It is hard to know what if your wingman is doing something stupid or not (one more often than the other :D). Has anyone had the same problem (patch 1.1.0.7). That's all. I just wanted to share. And hey, I'm liking the new menu music.:pilotfly:
  6. When the TGP is about to be masked the M starts flashing to indicate that.
  7. good to knoe that. Other important info was to know that the AI will attack only what they have detected; unless you tell them what to attack. :smartass:
  8. The most amazing part of all this is not the video, or how he uses the wingmen efficiently, but the quick response. It's been only three (!) days since Mr. Wagner started a thread on what kind of instructional videos we, virtual armchair pilots, would like to see. And now we have it. This is real customer support. And I don't really remember the last time a game producer showed up on the forums to ask what the customer wanted. Really, really nice. This is why, no matter what "U.S. fighter" they will release next, I will buy it, just to support these guys and keep them going.
  9. Said it all, brother. Giving the "Atack Ground Units" general command is no joy. But if you broadcast SPI, and give the "Attack Armor With Mavericks From the Nortgh (or Default)" thing, they (the wingies) work pretty nicely.
  10. Yep. There are various threads already on the "superhuman" capabilities of the AI wingman. They tend to detect targets way before you, and to attack them very efficiently (sometimes, too efficiently).
  11. Yep, This Su-27 means business alright. Nice digital camo.
  12. +1, Agreed!
  13. Very nice! Good to know, it opens up new possiibilities.:smartass:
  14. Nice video! The external view is a nice touch, And, man, those Ka-50 can reaaallly turn on a dime.
  15. I agree with Ice. CBU's will hit something, because the bomblets footprint spread allows it. Unguided bombs, is hit or miss (very difficult). I wonder if it is feasible with LGB tough. Another one to test list.
  16. Agreed. Yesterday I watched a video showing the employement of Brimstones by Tornados. Nice little precise things.
  17. Probable causes: 1) Cold. Maybe because it was winter, the IR seeker on the "D" maybe doesn't track the target because the vehicle is also cold. The vehicle doesn't stand out of the surrounding environment, contrary to what one would expect. 2) Moving target. Mavericks are great weapons, but if the target is moving abeam (90 degrees) of the aircraft axis, they are more prone to lost track. Some videos on YouTube on the sim show that. Enganging targets coming in the direction (axis) of the aircraft is almost a sure kill, moving laterally is not always guaranteed. 3) Flight envelope. Depending on the distance, Gs, maneuver required to track and engage the MAVs, as any missile, can and will miss. And 2 out 25 is 8% misses. So, statistically, not a really bad ratio. Edit: Also, considering that the "H" model looks for contrast, a black dot (vehicle) on a white surface (snow) allows for a very high contrast. One more probable cause for the "H"'s hitting more than the "D"s on your specific mission. Well, this is my two cents. I really don't know if I raised more questions than answered them... :music_whistling:
  18. Blackheart and Temphage, hats off to you guys. I was watching a video yesteraday on the Afeghanistan war...well, things are not easy, never ever.
  19. Yep, I confess I tried that... :joystick:
  20. Like I said, I like to watch unedited videos. It allows me to see where the other pilots make mistakes (and it is funny to see how we all make the same mistakes) and more importantly, how others do things right. These sims are understated on their "open-world" capability, since you can setup an attack from whichever direction you choose (the low flying BlackShark allows that) and what tactics to use. It is good to know a different way to engage targets, air defenses and not losing your wingmen to AI fire...:D Again, very nice and keep'em coming.
  21. Nice shooting! Your videos are very nice, man. I like to see a mission played from start to finish, no edits. It is good to gauge how one is good/bad at flying/employing weapons and to learn from other players as well. Thanks for uploading.
  22. I think it is related to the Escape Maneuver for the release of the bombs. I believe you have to set it to climb. In the Beta Manual (don't know the page for the release version ), on page 529, it is shown the DSMS page for General Purpose and Cluster Bombs; there you can change as required. I can't test it myself, 'cause I'm away from my beloved DCS:A-10 at the moment ; but it is the first thing that comes to mind regarding this problem.
  23. Beautiful shot cibit. Nice Moon detail.
