DCS A-10C Digital Skins "Marine" & "Army" Pattern
RodBorza replied to Ranger79's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Hey Ranger79, I've been following this thread since the start, and since the beginning I was looking for a green army digital pattern, but I was a bit afraid to ask. I thought it was in some sense abusive, "since the guy already had a lot of work to make this cammo, asking him for a specific while I'm sitting here just waiting is, y'a know, too easy".:music_whistling: But since you've already done it, and it does look beautiful, me want that!:D Great job man, they do look really cool and add a lot to the sim. -
I am in a somewhat close situation as you are regarding controls. I have a 8 button control but with only one hat on it. Normal hat input is view. Buttons 3 and 4 are zoom in and out. LCrtl+ Hat is trim. LShift+Hat is slew. LAlt + Hat is DMS. And finally LWin+Hat is TMS. A bit confusing, but with time I got to manage all this. You can set it all up on Options>Controls>HOTAS and choosing Modifiers for each command. Of course, I'm looking forward a Track IR 5 which will ease the load a lot on the controls, also to make my old CH Fighter Stick gameport controllers to work on my USB-only computer. What I mean by that is that a good alternative, not as expensive as the TM Hotas Warthog, are CH Products, which are reliable, have lots of hats, buttons, etc; and are not THAT expensive.

Hmmm...then, this is new to me. In other threads it was said that nothing would happen if you left the Mavs on for too long. If the seeker ranges decrease, well, another great feature for an already great sim.
-
You can also press the ACK button on the lower right corner on both MFCDs. Yep. Mavericks do heat, however their ability being degraded in the game is not modeled. So, leaving them on in the sim has no bigger consequences than getting the annoying NOTE message as stated above.

Nice review. The PCGamer UK review is also very positive.

+1! That's good info. Didn't know that.

I just want to add: besides flying higher than usual, you can always call SEAD flights on the radio menu F10. Others... Usually, depending on the mission, you'll have to loiter somewhere and wait for them to do the job. One thing you have to have in mind is that they have limited ordnance also. So, when they come in, they'll soften the area, not destroying all threats. But it will help, Also, if you have to loiter around for a long time, as we usually do, talking to JTAC and all, if you look at the menu, the SEADs and CAPs flights are replenished from time to time. So, if needed, you can always call them again later on the mission.

Yep. Sticky thread would do.

I agree with all and add this: never ever had seen a game producer to directly look at the forums and directly answer customers the way Matt Wagner is doing. This is the part that impresses me the most. I happen to own the vast majority of my games from Ubisoft. And although they have forums and support, I had never seen this kind of commitment and attention to customer request. On the other hand, from ED you know they are listening. Take a look at Matt's videos on You Tube as an example. Can't agree more! As long as they keep up the good work, I will buy it just to keep them going.

All in all that's the good part of it. For us hardcore simmers learning is part of the fun.

Well, in midst of all this, I just want to say that I was in a perfectly good day of flying then my Autopilot died on me. No MFCD failures, but Autopilot suddenly out.

Lasing Targets For Others: Best way to maintain the lase?
RodBorza replied to Merlin216's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Besides that, lasing with the IR Pointer on (the Both option) will give others a good reference/confirmation to where exactly you want them to drop ordnance (mainly at night, that is :smartass:). Also, for "over the clouds" bombing, a lightly armed (mainly only rocket markers, TGP and AIM-9's) could guide the bombs to the target that other more heavily armed flights can't or are unable to. This may not apply much for other A-10's, but I can see a good aplication for other planes like F-16's/F-18's. -
A nosey question about Matt's rig...
RodBorza replied to mooshim's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Just to add at what EtherealN has said. Take a look at the NVidia link below. It will lead you to the Graphic Cards comparison table. It is under the Shop tab. This table will help guide you what video card suits you better. You'll see that the numbers can be (and really are) deceiving: http://www.nvidia.com/object/graphics_cards_buy_now.html -
LOL. I won't even ask how you found this out. :D

RodBorza replied to mooshim's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I don't have. Still. But I'm saving for it. Here in Brazil, unfortunately they are not available everywhere. Graphic cards, on the other hand, are very easy to find. But for Track IR, we have to import them. Right now I'm saving for a Track IR 5 and TM Warthog (the good side of being single...) :D -
At least I brought her back in (almost) one piece.
RodBorza replied to kungfoo's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Where's your landing gear???? Never seen that before. -
As DarkEagle pointed out the Laser is not set to Auto by default. You must change it from the DSMS INV page. Or, if you want to manuallly lase it (as I do myself) you need to set the Laser to Latch On. If you don't do it, you'll need to continuously press the NWs button to lase the target. To set Laser Latch On, go to the CTRL page on the TGP and on OSB 8 (i think) you'll have the option to set Latch On. Press it, go back to the TGP main page. When you press the NWS button once, it will turn the laser on. When NWS is pressed again, it will turn the laser off. Very useful for attacking AND taking measurements to targets. Not the Mark points per se can be named, however, you can create a Flight Plan from the stored markpoints, and then name them as desired. A lot of work, but possible.

Thanks JaboG32 and nomdeplume for the info. It seems it is not imposiible, but very difficult to implement all things that must be set in motion for the CSAR dynamically. But, as far as it goes for missions, it gave me a lot of ideas. It's time to inaugurate the Mission Editor....hmmm...:smartass:
-
It would be nice, though. Being able to check-out with JTAC from the current assignment and check-in with AWACS for a CSAR.
