Happens the same, my GPU don´t surpass 50% utilization (52 to 55 ºC maximum, on 2080ti), setting with a PD of 202% and many other graphics options enabled.

For me is more "cheating" the fact that the sim doesn´t represent realistic viewing, like the other 2WW sim, which is quite far realistic (even represents sun reflections over metallic surfaces, "glaring" that could be easily notice at distance). So using "dots" represents to me the more realistic approach to awareness in real life (i tweaked the labels just avoid to seeing planes at 30 Km...)

Hi, I attach a new LUA file modified version (works with any level of shadows selected in menu option). In addition, I found the parameter to removes completely the flat shadow (finally....), with renders projected plane´s other dynamic objects with a visible distance limit of 50 meters (more or less). Helps improving FPS specially on tarmac You have to put this file in \DCS WORLD\Config\Effects However, this modification makes not passing security control in multpilayer. shadows.lua

I noticed some night lighting improvements, but only from some AC: F-15, Mi-24 Hind, Mi-26 chopper. At the night, its position light is visible since many Km (never seen before, nor 2.5.5). Attach other topic I started: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=4275216#post4275216

@MUSTANG: Do you know how to remove flat shadows projected with player&others aircraft, on the ground? while mantaining other shadows. Some similar like static shadows coded in flatshadow.hlsl line "return position = 0;"

I noticed in 2.5.6 that F-15´s lighting had changed since 2.5.5, make them very visible for 3-4 Km at night. It also happens to other choppert maybe Mi-26, don´t remember exactly. It could be extended the F-15C sort of wingtips lighting to others AC, just to enable night operations awareness about traffic patters / others AC?

What is the problem of paying a monthy subscription of 10 €??? I´m sure that many of us when go out home spend much more than 10€ WTF... (not this time... due COV19). Ever my gym which I go 2-3 days per week costs me over 70€ per month. You seems that don´t realice that this is not like a "closed" videogamem, like BF1, TW3, HLA, etc..., its a bit different, cause its evolving over time, like many others sims or programs... how many time do you have to pay a yearly subscription just to use newer versions of Autocad3d or other similar programs that are evolving?? @ED developers: please consider turning your product in a montly subscriptions, maybe hire specialists in core optimization - graphic engine programmers, vulkan specialists, etc.. -we´re many years waiting promissed new feautures, and I feel that you maybe don´t have the necessary resources just to control many new features only speaking about different modules. I will be very happy to pay 10-12 € per month (appart of the modules I bought is the past , more than 600€...), if really I´ll see improvements in my SIM (and not promises year after year...).

Yes, there are many objects not rendered equally in both eyes: - Rotor blades - Su-25 (reflections bugged, seems that renders different in each eye) - Clouds and contrails, at a distance 20km or more, only render in one eye. - some explossions / smoke effects, at distance 20Km or more. At least, AC´s light floods at runway seems rendered correctly in the last beta.

A-10 I´m sure that the glass is sort of special thickness also

Please remove the dark tint of the canopy glass, in my opinion is overdone, has the effect of exterior dark environment (in comparison with other AC). Or at least, make it optional like F-16 yellow tint. Thanks.

Thanks a LOT Mustang, I noticed thatm with flat shadows mod, the shadow casting due mountains is NOT removed, which is GREAT specially at sunsets!!! those modification I was looking since many years ago!!! Previously, with flat shadows enabled (just to have mountaing cast shadowing), the performance had a massive hit due enlarged shadowing of trees. Specially on VR. Now, mountain shadowing is enabled without fps dowgrades. I send you a file that I modiefied file (SHADOWS.LUA) just to have plane and others objects shadowing rendered at lower distance (not rendered full shadowing at 5 Km which is not really necessary nor usefull/noticeable).You have to select in MENU the quality of shadows "LOW". In addition, this mod make cockpit shadowing with more resolution. If you would, I could add to your package and file structure. Please let me know. Only two questions, MUSTANG: 1-. Overcast mod is impressive, specially under cloud cover. But above, may ask you if it would be possible to increase contrast clouding? 2-. What are the effects of fire smoke? increasing / lower fps performance? I hope ED read this message, is quite frustating spending and hour tweaking the sim with each new patch, those shadowing "hacks" by users, that helps FPS without lowering visual quality (that helps specially VR users) in my opinion MUST be included in options menu. Specially those related with shadowing that bring down performance by 70 or 80% (sunset tree shadowing bring fps to 5 or 6 in sunsets, with top high end PC´s....)

Thats because you have put in autoexec.cfg the line: "options.graphics.stereo_mode_use_shared_parser = true"; Remove it or change to false.

I think that distance LOD is another issue (I noticed specially with clouds and contrails, only rendered in one eye when vieving at distance - 40 Km or more -. In 2.5.5, those were rendered perfect with no issues). However, I noticed that the bug related with projected light on runways only partially in one eye, surprising, has been solved finally in the latest open beta (2.5.6.45915). There is no mention in changelog. I tested it with many AC: F-15, Uh-1, F-14, Su-27 , F-18, F-16 and A-10, projected lights in VR are quite better now, at least, projected equally in both eyes.

It not has been for a while (testing the latest 2.5.5 openbeta version, there is no fool day or resources spended in that...). The problem with ED is the lack of competence & other sims in the market. They don´t care giving any explanation appart "workin on it..." or fixing bugs, since many years. That is whats is happen in reality. Mainly due: 1-. Its the only product in market (sadly). 2-. They don´t have (or at least, it seems) any control about source code (confirmed in reddit due "spagetti"code). 3-. Sales in EA due most users (if not, all) don´t have any others sim options in the market. In december´2019, I was very happy to see new items like new clouds, vulkan, etc... now, I have lost all faith and hopes in ED, that really helps in growing&improving the sim. Many promises, many announcements, with no results. Patch after patch, at least the last 2 years, are a cumulative of errors & broking items, without fixes.

Whenever possible please, at least, mark this as a "REPORTED" (lighting illuminating runways). I attached the necessary trks along other users about double-lighting issues. Has been investigating since many days.

Regarding the "sucking the time from the dev's", I´m sure that the April´s fool "three of a kind" doesn´t suck any time.

It´s clear due many report that there is some problem with uncommon CPU calls, even less CPU utilization adn low video mem usage. I hope ED find the root cause or modification since 2.5.5. that bring to knees the fps we had in 2.5.5 I understand BigNewy position, however, a comunication like "we´re working on it", for me is not enought. Taking into considerations many reports, tracks, and many testes given by the community... I would expect a bit more from ED. To my understanding: I suppose that the lack of more explanations from DEVs, is due ED don´t know whats going on with the root cause of the problem. We´re near 4 months with this situation, this worries me a lot.

Hi Bignewy, I attach 2 tracks I commented many times about infamous stuttering in 2.5.6, specially when using TGP in Caucasus terrain (when camera pass over the horizon), making it those planes completely unplayable in that terrain. Appart of other sort of FPS decreases related with few numbers of AI units. This sort of stutter (TGP looking at Caucasus) doesn´t happens in PG terrain (also in 2.5.6) or 2.5.5 (all terrains), its quite specific from caucasus, seems related to some issue preloading in memory. In fact, I noticed that video memory used is considerably lower in 2.5.6 in comparison with 2.5.5 (maybe the not cached scenery could impact continuosly due constants loads-unloads???) I hope the next week we´ll have those problems fixed in 2.5.6, at least, returning the same perferomance we have in 2.5.5 (not optimal, but at least playable with my high end PC in VR). I agree totally with you. we are waited not only many months, even years, looking at other´s companies products and its advance this situation is completely unacceptable. Personally, after each patch iteration I have to tweak again many parameters like labels, shadows, fps shaders mod from other user... why I have to do this work? Why I have to "fight" with detailed tweaking when I have a top high end PC?? we spend many hours just tweaking, testing, reverting, year after year, just to be on the same situation like 2 years ago. The pity is that a lot of persoms consider normal. No multithread, no clouds, no vulkan... will reach 2025 and ED will get out 20 more modules more, selling all of them in EA, with exponentially 2000 more bugs, just because I feel their cannot control the bug beast they created. As you said, enough is enough. To ED ALL Developers: just an advice (I also appreciated BigNewy work on forums, at least he answers to us): don´t sleep in your beds, and look what is happening with Intel due the AMD growing month after month. The lack of modern sim competence could change... every thing is subject to change :thumbup: No more money invested in DCS from my part, WILL only when I´ll see fixes and improvements in core sim, not just a damm shader lighting tweak.

I know, however at least in 2D could be playable with high specs PC. In VR cannot.

Its quite simple: they don´t test in VR, nowadays is not consider even a priority. Simply. Because there is no PC or configuration in this world that could move this. Mine is high end PC 7700K (a bit old, but with 4 cores at 5.1 Ghz water cooled), 32 MB at 3200 mhz, 2080ti at 2.100 Mhz (AOURUS EXTREME), two SSD 2 TB / 2 TB (in one DCS, in the other W19), Valve index HMD, W10 optized with the less startup applications, etc. Consider I have many sims in VR, this is the worst software, in terms of performance and optimizations.

I use a moded shadow.lue file by me, that works quite well (in 2.5.5), which reduce distance drawing of shadows in objects to 100 meters, keeping the cockpit shadows. At least, its playable in VR with objects shadowing. You only have to replace this file, and selecting in options the shadow object detail to "low". I used since one year ago. The only problem is that doesn´t pass online file checking. One time more, a optimization that could have been done by ED many time ago, in core sim, not by me. I attach it shadows.lua
