Definitely a disappointment, but at least it will give us some high quality AI for the Bug, Rhino and Growler - if nothing else...

Just to confirm the problem still exists... I just purchased the Tomcat a few days ago and have yet to be able to watch any tracks because it veers off the runway on takeoff and crashes before I even get airborne... even though the original flights were fine and without incident. Apart from that though, I'm loving the Tomcat! I must say it's an impressive add-on! Well done!!!

DCS: F-16CM Block 50 by EDSA Discussion Thread

DCS: F-16C - IT'S GOING TO HAPPEN!!! I almost choked on my coffee this morning when I read the DCS Weekend News email!! Also checked to make sure that the date wasn't April 1! Even cleaned my glasses just to make sure I wasn't seeing things!!! Can't believe it's finally going to happen!!! Thanks, ED!! -
If you're referring to the Warthog HOTAS... yes.. the separate stick and throttle are the same ones sold as a set.

Anybody Using Debolestis 13 degree Tailpiece
ggerman replied to Weegie's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I didn't even bother with the polished version. There's no need for it in my opinion. You can't really see the piece when it's connected to the base so its a waste of effort and, as you said, could reduce the outer diameter. I reduced any chance of play in my stick by adding an extra washer to the inside attachment screw and over-tightening it. As a result, it is firmly in place and there isn't the slightest hint of wobble. -
Anybody Using Debolestis 13 degree Tailpiece
ggerman replied to Weegie's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I use the 13 degree forward/15 degree offset version in heavy black plastic and it works great. Very strong and stiff. It will take a little getting used to if you are used to the upright, straight metal tailpiece that comes standard with the Warthog. The forward pitch will feel a little strange at first, but you'll get used to it quickly. I bought it to replace the original cheap metal version, which snapped in two. This one, I feel, will be much stronger! In fact, I just bought 4 more of these tailpieces yesterday for my spare Warthog sticks as well as an extra Warthog Throttle Detent. -

Lynx Cockpit Utility Brick "Button box"

I could take a stab at some F-16 panels for BMS Falcon 4, if you like! Is the template you had earlier in the thread still the current template? -
Lynx Cockpit Utility Brick "Button box"
ggerman replied to LynxDK's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I plan to buy a few of these!! I'd love to be able to use them in DCS World, BMS Falcon 4.33, and P3D. Have you come up with any BMS Falcon panels yet? -
I think they may be referring to the "bang" that you hear in external view... if you watch a replay track, you can hear a loud "bang" when the cans light up in external view. In real life, you'll never hear a "bang" when the 220's or 229's light up (except during a compressor stall) because they are staged to light up gradually... but what you SHOULD hear is the distinctive P&W "queep" - the chirping of the CENC opening and closing the nozzles - in exterior view... which is (sadly) missing in DCS. That would be much more realistic than the current bang heard in exterior view (though you would only hear the nozzles chirp if you're within about 1/4 mile of the aircraft during takeoff or landing or during EOR checks.)

FSSB R3 and Warthog stick shaft toughness question.
ggerman replied to VWood's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I have an FSSB R3 and Warthog stick that developed a slight wiggle after about 1 year and then one day the pot metal shaft snapped in two right at the base. There is, indeed, a great deal of pressure asserted on that shaft - but only when you have the force set to higher levels. Instead of getting a replacement from Thrustmaster, I ordered a 3-D printed heavy vinyl replacement from Debolestis Shapeways shop in this thread It's extremely stiff and it also has the correct angle and slight offset that are missing from the original TM version. So far, it has held up remarkably well... there was a slight wobble at first, but I managed to tighten it down and now it is perfect! It was very affordable and so far it has been a great replacement! -

In Cockpit Footage Taxying and Airborne - Engine Noise
ggerman replied to Tinkickef's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Ummm... the A-10 TF-34 doesn't have burners...:music_whistling: Just a large fan and a 4-stage LP turbine, a 14-stage HP compressor, and a 2-stage HP turbine. These are essentially (with a few differences) the same engines used in the commercial Bombardier CRJ-200 (CF-34) so if you want to hear a more accurate sound, listen to one of those from inside the passenger cabin. -
Thrustmaster Warthog with F15 style grip
ggerman replied to flashben's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I ordered one of the tailpieces in black nylon (the thicker core). Once it comes and I get it installed, I'll post a review for you. Thanks for the help! -
Thrustmaster Warthog with F15 style grip
ggerman replied to flashben's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I have 2 Warthog grips - one I use on the Warthog base and a second that I use on my FSSB R3 base. I guess I had the force on my FSSB R3 higher than it should have been because the Warthog grip snapped on the part highlighted in the image below. It's soft metal and I guess not really ideal for force-sensing stick pressure. Anyway, I just bought another Warthog stick to replace the grip. Wondering if the part you have on the F-15 stick could stand up to the force used with the FSSB R3. Would be great if I could find someone to machine that part out of stainless steel or something stronger that can take the repeated force used with a force sensing stick. :joystick: -
Looking for Nvidia software that saves profiles...
ggerman replied to fitness88's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Next time be more specific... and it's not just an overclocking tool... it's a 3D settings profile builder - to set antialiasing levels, ansiotropic filtering, ambient occlusion, v-sync, transparency AA, etc. for a single global profile or program-specific profiles. The first screen is just an overview of the graphics card performance - if you go click the tools button you go into the tools dialogue, where you can adjust the 3d settings in user-customizeable 3D profiles. But if I'm not mistaken you should be able to save color profiles with the standard Nvidia Control Panel -

+1 Ironically, some of the same folks who do things like that are "very vocal, hard-line sticklers" for "total accuracy in a simulation". They count rivets and complain about the accuracy of the flight model...yet they do things like that... or they fly with a mouse or use a racing wheel for a yoke.

I know they're working on a Nimitz-class carrier to go with the Hornet, but I think this might be something different - otherwise ED would probably have shown us this in one of their newsletters. This looks like it's a 3rd party creation. Would love to know more about it - no matter who is doing it!

Stumbled across this on YouTube yesterday but haven't seen anything about this in the forums... it's from October of last year. Who is creating this? Looks like a great model - hope they animate the catapult shuttles and add some steam effects to it, though! The night lighting on this thing is incredible!

I'm getting this with both the Mirage AND the F-15C in Nevada after the 2.0.2 update. This is with absolutely NO wind at all.
