  1. +1 Like you, I say let him package them however he wants! Personally, I like the boxing scheme he's shown in his mockups!
  2. I have a feeling that effects like this are tied to the material properties of the objects in the map. Since the Caucasus map is just a port-over from the previous version of DCS (1.2.x) the ramps, runways, taxiways and roads don't have the necessary material properties applied to them to display wet surfaces like that. Now, when the NTTR and SoH maps become available, I anticipate that they WILL have those types of rain effects because those maps (and the objects contained within them) were/are being developed specifically for the EDGE environment - where as the original Caucasus map is not. In essence, what I'm saying is that they probably don't think it's worth the time, effort, and expense to go back and rebuild the Caucasus map objects with newer material properties that can display effects like that. Too many other priorities to waste time on the older map. I say wait and see what the NTTR brings before requesting things that may already be included.
  3. I tried using this method with the F-15C and I was, in fact, able to take control of the original AI aircraft, but then when I do that, the original Player aircraft no longer follows the flight track that I previously recorded with it. Basically, by taking control of the AI aircraft, you're creating a NEW track and the previously recorded flight data is no longer available. It was a good thought "in theory", but unfortunately it doesn't work. If only there was a utility like FS-Recorder but for DCS... where you could record multiple flight tracks and replay them all at the same time. <SIGH>
  4. That's all post-process effects done in the video editing software. None of that rain effect is a part of FSX.
  5. I'm thinking more as an update to the pilot's helmet model. You rarely ever see an Eagle Driver wearing the standard HGU-55/P helmet anymore.
  6. JHMCS for the F-15C Not a necessity, but would be very nice to have. At the very least, I hope it is slated for the F/A-18C! DCS 1.5 is incredible and I can't wait until the NTTR is released! I haven't had this much fun flying since I retired!!
  7. Thanks for the reply... I haven't tried the SU-25T or the TF-51D yet... but I will. I've gone to the module manager and all of my modules are there and activated. They were all working fine in the Open Beta prior to the 1.5 update (I've been running the open beta for a few months.) Should I just un-install and re-install them each one by one?
  8. My installation of 1.5 is fine and all of my modules are installed properly, however the only aircraft that will allow me to actually go to the cockpit view (F1) is the L-39. I've tried creating new simple flying-only missions with other aircraft (i.e. A-10C, F-15C, F-86, Hawk, etc..) and I always select the pilot to be "Player", but the only aircraft that will actually allow me to have a cockpit view is the L-39. I'm not adding anything to the missions.. just inserting my aircraft of choice and a simple runway start. No other AI aircraft or mission parameters are being created. For all other aircraft, though, it's as if the mission designates them as AI only and they will takeoff and fly without allowing me to control them. The mission will start with a top-down Map view and the only aircraft views I have are F2 & F3. It is as if there is something overriding the F1 cockpit view in the mission Any advice? Thanks!
  9. Not in DCS, they can't! :D
  10. Actually, the most prominent feature of the F-15E is quite visible - the CFTs mounted on the intakes... hard to mistake it for a C-model.

  12. Excellent news!! I'm in for at least one of everything!
  13. Considering that in FSX/Prepar3D a single airport can cost well over $40, I'd say it's a pretty good bargain! We get at least 4 detailed airports in the NTTR package - KLAS, Nellis AFB, Area 51, and Creech AFB and a full Las Vegas city as well!! I think it's a steal!!!
  14. No offense to you intended... but just because you don't find an aircraft interesting doesn't mean others won't. Look at the C-101... it's a trainer with no weapons capabilities and yet people seem to be having a ball in it. And in all fairness, the Super Tucano isn't exactly "obscure"... we (the US) just sold a whole bunch to Afghanistan for CAS purposes (at which it is quite adept and very effective!) I think it would add a very unique capability to the lineup I, for one would love to see it!
  15. Sorry. but I just don't see anything that looks unacceptable about the the current state of the mountains - and I flew through the REAL NTTR nearly every day for 3 years when I was stationed at Nellis AFB. I'd say ED has done a pretty damn good job of capturing the look and feel better than anyone possibly could!
  16. Are they aware that "Mirage" is spelled incorrectly in the shot of the hotel in Las Vegas? I'm assuming if it was on purpose, then it is for trademark purposes? Other than that, It looks INCREDIBLE!!! Brings back fond memories of my days flying at Nellis!
  17. That first one isn't white - its actually the same gray colors (Light Ghost gray and Dark Ghost gray) and camo pattern currently used - but with color markings instead of subdued markings.
  18. These are incredible!!! Bravo!!! Any chance you are developing a version that is mountable in the Obutto cockpits? I use the Obutto Ozone cockpit frame with the Warthog mounting adapters. I'd love to be able to mount YOUR stick base to the same center-seat mount that the Warthog uses! The thing I like about the Obutto is that everything (stick and throttle) is right at the user height with no stick extensions necessary... the mounts are adjustable for height if necessary. I have both a center-mounted Warthog stick for all center-stick fighters and a side-mounted Warthog FSSB V3 for flying the F-16 and all side-stick aircraft. http://www.mainperformancepc.com/product/obutto-gaming-cockpits/obutto-ozone-gaming-cockpit/obutto-ozone-r3volution-a10-thrustmaster-hotas-flight-stick-mount-accessory/ Thanks for your continued hard work! I'm already a confirmed customer for you!! Greg
  19. I just made this modification to the detent on my Warthog throttle and it works great! Very easy to do! I just scraped the sharp edge down a tiny bit with an X-acto knife and then smoothed and rounded the edge with a miniature rasp file. The plastic used for the detent is easy to scrape with the X-acto knife and very easy to file, yet it's firm enough that you don't have to worry about going too far and removing too much plastic. Just remove very small amounts at a time, then smooth the scraped area with the file and test it in between until you've found the optimum resistance. The key is to have a very rounded edge on the little plastic "wings" of the detent insert. The push-through requires very little extra force, yet the throttle seats firmly into the detent to give a definite distinction between military power and AB. Works great for the DCS F-15C! The AB engages/disengages right at the detent. Thanks to SDsc0rch and Eddie for the tip! Greg
  20. Actually, you can move quite freely in the ACES II ejection seat. The parachute risers connected to the pilot's PCU-15 harness are actually attached to straps that are connected to an internal reel inside the seat just below the headrest. That reel can be locked by a lever on the seat to prevent the amount of movement by the pilot in the seat during abrupt maneuvering. It's very much like the shoulder harness in an automobile - you can move freely during normal operation, but in a crash, the belt tension locks your body into place to keep you from being thrown forward into the steering wheel In the event of ejection, the reel automatically rolls the straps in and forces the pilot into the seatback to put him in the proper body posture. You can see how much lateral and forward movement the pilot has in this video - its an F-15, but the ACES II seat is almost the same as the A-10 version. Fast-forward to near the end of the clip.
  21. I, too, preferred the sounds from a couple of versions ago that had the more prominent ECS sounds and more pronounced airflow - as opposed to the less-realistic and overwhelming turbine sounds that they put back in. It was more akin to what you'd hear wearing a helmet and CEPs. I understand the argument that without any sort of physical feedback (vibrations from power changes, etc.) the turbine pitch sound is a key for some people in "head's-up" power management, but I just prefer the more realistic cockpit sounds. Would be great if there was some sort of option to choose which sound profile to use.
  22. It would, indeed, be nice to have both of these - especially the whistles/chirps from the F-100 - however something tells me that your wish will have to stay just that - a wish. The only way I think they'd include it would be if they did a more "in-depth" version of the F-15. But sadly, that's not in their current plans.
  23. In your TrackIR Profile, just change F9 to Shift + F9... that's what I have:thumbup:
  24. Some people like using them!
