No more CDU messing with JTAC for target location (for starters)
Fish replied to 711Hancer's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
I just plug them in directly while JTAC is listing 9 line. No wasted time. -
CTRL key is not a good one to bind as activation in default mode, cause widows sees this key press along with the vac command as long as you are holding it, so RCTRL & KP+ is what windows sees. Try use the 'ARM' mode, if using that key, so you only got to push and release it, then say your phrase. Test your command in the test mode, first. While the test mode will show the phrase being recognised, it will only confirm it as good command, if you have 'armed' the activation key.

Best practice on taxiing first before you are dependent on them for landing. Agree with poster above, after a little practice you will have the feel. I use them to help me with tight 180 turns on taxi/runway, and for turning off onto taxi. ~Always have your mini control indicator switched on, so you can see the state of brakes (and other controllers). Great feature. Worth persisting to get them working.

Yes !! Works a treat then

Yes but u have to get to the sweet spot. He has to 'plunge' the telescopic pipe into the nose of the jet at an angle of about 45 ideally (though he will chase you a little). So you have to make it as easy for him as possible, by staying as steady as possible when you get to the sweet spot. He's constrained by the shortest and longest length of the boom, so best position is in the 'centre' of his window. STOP THINKING ABOUT THE NUMBERS!! The job is to match the speed. In fact dim the HUD completely, its only distracting. You can discuss all day this topic, but like riding a bike, the only way you learn is to practice lots. For me i practised 'formation' flying with a wingman as lead, then hooking to the tanker became a much easier task to learn. Also start with a clean A10, then when you crack it, add ordinance. I'm sure you have a mission with you at same alt as texaco, and just outside precontact point? make sure you have an accurate stick and throttle, and dumb down the stick responses to start with.

Profiles link in first post. Please take as is. VAC profile is still WIP. All constructive comments welcome. Cheers.

How to get heading from previous waypoint to steering point.
Fish replied to vuurflits's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
You've probably sorted this already, but i believe I covered this in my 'Course Deviation Indicator' navigation video, see my signature. And welcome to the club!! -
Video on setting up VAC added to first post. Profile will follow later.

Gladly, but still tweaking the VAC. Will post both in a bit. Yes, but most time i don't use the HUD. Great believer in the Steam gauges. Then when the time comes, i roll my longitudinal veiw in, and i'm in the HUD. Check this out

I use S3+S4 to give me 'num.'=VAC activate. I use S4 for Teamspeak. (so TS listens to my VAC commands, but that's no biggie). Check this post

Got a bit of tweaking to do on this profile all right. Approach which works for me is several phrases for each command, and make it more 'naturally speaking' commands. Will post a profile as template when tweaked a bit more.

Keep an eye on this thread. I'll post mine when Its tweaked some more. :smilewink:

Thought VAC deserves a thread of its own. (720p) 'How to' of setting up VAC DCS A-10 fish profiles 20111002, Profiles for VAC, TM Cougar, TIR5 with clip pro.

VAC Cause some commands don't fall in the same key sequence (context sensitive), or for example depending on how many Jtacs, are and how close they are, its impossible to map all commands to single phrases. But many can be, So best solution for the rest is to have a 'catch' all, eg O P 1, or Option 1 or Menu 1 all = F1, and map those which have constant key sequence to a phrase. Also, because the first menu layer appears to be constant, e.g. A T C can always be F5, they can be mapped to appropriate phrases. Also recommend using multiple phrases for same command, eg, Two Close formation, Two Return to formation, Two form On Me, etc, so you don't have use same phrase, and it feels more natural, and your likely to remember one. Vac is well able to handle these without a sweat. I also like to use my radio switch to activate the menu. Let Vac take over from there And finally, using the mouse for menu activation, does not bode well for trks. Game does not seem to be able to remember all in correct sequence. With VAC its like hitting the key, and VAC comms sequences play back flawlessly. my 0.02c.

I remember someone posted details of how to adjust the distance buildings and the like 'appear' in the sim. Be happy to get the link to that post if anyone here has it. Or any other help on the subject. Cheers.

Hmm, just discovered this thread. Happens to me also. Funny thing, no matter what HDR settings, don't seem to make a difference, ie. looks like no HDR until after i ALT TAB (only sometimes), does it return with the full HDR, like the old pre 1.07 patches. Not a big deal for me, one way or the other, its the inconsistency which can be irritating. Cheers.

Hmm. Track in first post shows exactly where and what parameters. It not a repeatable problem, so its not possible to give a recipe to make it happen. Bugs are sometimes like that. Its actually not a big problem here, as it only happened a small number of times since i started with dcs.

Answer must no then !!

Is there a key combo to get back to the recorded pit view, after changing away from the pit view? Cheers

How do you print out & preserve all the Checklists, groundcharts etc ?
Fish replied to Weasel's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Spend 99$ and get a second 20 inch 1600x900 monitor. Hook it to your GPU second port. Change you game out of 'full screen' mode, enable autopilot, or pause, and browse/read your documents from you second monitor. Easy and cheap and no printing/reprinting/lamination costs.
