A nice feature of FC, is that you pay only ~$30 for the first aircraft, all the rest after that come free......... Here how the f16 is started, not sure how relevant it is, but fuel is switched on before the Jet fuel started is engaged. http://homepage.eircom.net/~fish44/Pictures/F16_start_sequence.jpg

1.12a mayor improvement in playability?
Fish replied to tflash's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Here's the only documented change to the SU25 "The drag index for ECM MPS-410 "Omul", L-081 "Fantasmagoria", ODAB-500 has been decreased." Apart from this i've not noticed a difference in performance. It's still the trickiest A/C to fly, but also the most rewarding. What I do notice, but it was prabably there in 1.1.1 is a significant difference between the handling of the 25 and the 25T, with the 25 easier to maneuever and handle than the T. (the difference in aircraft weights would account for this, provided the engines performance on both variants were similar). -
Thought i'd reply to this, since a similar topic is going on for the russian jets. I you consider how a pilot flies, its probably less important to him exactly how much he's burining in AB, but more important that it is factors greater than normal operation. Therefore unless necessary, it is avoided, or at least minimised during operations (takeoff, defensive maneuevers etc). An indication of the AB mode, in the jet is probably adequate to fulfill these requirements (along with sensory cues which i presume are present). What is important is exactly how much he's burning during 'normal', up to military power, and an accurate measurement of how far he's going to be able to go under a given set of circumstances (power setting, altitude, air temperature, pressure etc). So if a gauge went through the full range to cover the vast qualtity of consumption at AB, there would probably be significant inaccuracy in the range of fuel burn where the pilot remains for the most part, and which he uses to get home. A second gauge would be the only practical answer (given the technology available at the design time), but would be in my opinion over kill. Maybe someone with RL experience of AB, would comment.

And the tape reflects the quantity in Kilograms, as can be seen when bitching betty tells us "Fuel 1500kilograms". I did have a thought about calculating the potential distance with a ready reconer based on throttle setting and fuel remaining. But I spoke with someone who knows a little about jet engines, and he indicated that in RL the fuel 'flow' can change for a given throttle (engine revs), temp, pressure, incline decine, ect. Maybe someone here can elaborate on how its calcualted (within the software) in lomac, and what factors affect it.

This will do me for the price tag of <$30 and a laminated sheet. http://homepage.eircom.net/~fish44/Pictures/Dash.jpg There's also a masterpilot behind, for another $40. U know theres more than one way to skin a cat. But if i do win the lotto.....

OOH, i like that 'slider' cougar style throttle. I bet its 'smooth'.....

Just thought i'd post an update on this issue. Since i installed 1.1.2a, the comms menu button is working perfectly. I did have to re-map it to a different key (the L key). Not sure if it was sorted in 1.1.2, as i did not have time to play with key settings to try it before the updated patch came along. Can't say 100% that it was sorted by the patch, and im not gonna go back to the old patch to prove it. So for me i got this extra feature (back) in the patch. Thanks ED.

Thanks for the replies. I can't say i understand all of this, or even most of it. but i get the jist. From the comments above there seems to be two levels of difficulty in achieving such an AFM for a simulated aircraft. 1. The complexity of the models, and the logic, and programming of these. 2. The attainment for the correct data parameters to put into the models. So even if the models could be built for second world war planes or other modern military fighter planes, It might be very difficult to get the accurate data ?

Would anyone like to have a go at explaining in what way/s are the FM of the Su25~'s are more 'Advanced' than the other aircraft in FC. I know that things like weapons inertia, and fuel load affect the center of gravity, and I also know that the plane behaves much different from say the A10. I presume it also means better damage modelling integrated with the other characteristics, However when i look other sims many boast of '....the most advanced flight model in a pc game. I do believe that this accolade goes hands down to the Su25~'s of FC, but would like to understand it in lay terms what makes it so better. Also I've flown the latest version of FB/ACE/PF, and some of the aircraft seem to have a similar feel on handling, slow speed, performance, and landing/cross wind, to the SU25. Would be intereested to hear comments.

My Contribution to the Movie Craze: Venom
Fish replied to EvilBivol-1's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Thanks for the advice on reading the manual, Would love to do that sometime. Could not find it anywhere in the manual. I did find it on the first paragraph of the KeyCommands.doc file though. -

A very appropriate movie, for the departure of this bird. Brings home the loss of yet another great aircraft from our skies. Well done, and another class film Amraam -

Anyone like to point me to some literature on mission building for FC1.1.1. Would like to be able to put Multiplay in the mix with AI planes, and stuff like that. Are there rules about timing of flights from the same runway etc. Its all a little confusing for me so far. ...

Hey Rich, Maybe your spending too much time in the Frog. Hope they don't try to take the damage costs from your salary... -
Hi all. Have not cracked my problem with game comms in FC1.1.1, so would like to try 1.02 again, for single player. 1. How do i keep both installs with ease on the same rig. 2. Will 1.02 support TIR in any form ?
