Just a quick test and it seems to work fine. Cheers. Any advice for AF ? seeing a lot of shimmering around distant towns etc. Have set it to 8x in the ati control panel.

Just got one of these puppies, to replace my ailing 8800ultra. Still tricking around with settings. If anyone has done this you might post how you got AA and vertical synch working for BS/FC. Cheers,

enable, center only, mapped to num+ and num-, cause these are for throttle, and most will use a joystick for these controls
-
That sounds like a plan

Its a bright line on the ground outside my pit, both right an left. Its not fixed with my head, but apperas to be aligned some how with the Ka. Any ideas. My grafix board is an ultra 8800. Once i get off the ground it gone.

Ive been in and out of sims since early 90's, and also FPS. And while it would be nice if terrain was as good close up as a good FPS, For me its go be 'smooth' first and foremost, on a reasonable spec'd rig. I think ED have done a great job with this as is. While fancy hdr stuff and volumetric trees would be great, they would not really enhance the playability of the game hugely, and in fact if they reduced FPS, would probably take away from it. Very detailed vegetation and building etc are essential for FPS games, because of the tactical way the player interacts with them. Its not the case with a flight simulator. I would much prefer to see better damage modelling of ground and ai vehicles, in preference to more up to date graphics, as this would enhance the game's playability. Would be nice to have a game with the simulation and AFM of BS or even FC, merged with the detail of an FPS such as ArmaII. Then we could fly like real pilots, and fight like infantry in the same battlespace. But I think thats a long way away.

Might be a little more here than you need to learn now, but If u master the navigation in the 'hudless' su25, then you can find you way home from anywhere. The thread is here

A-10A pilots! beginners, novice, and experts..

I would expect flying Su25 or T would prepare you better (AFM) for A10 in DCS than the A10 in FC! -
Answer no for me. FC now looks amazing with current hardware. Silky smooth. However I confine myself to the 25 and 25T, as they provide the best challenge in FC. Really enjoy BS also but for me FC reigns higher on the 'fun' factor. And for information i don't get a chance to play online anymore.

ive had all Tir's since 2, and Like someone said above. In order of precedence. Clip makes a bigger difference than different version. TIR5+Clip TIR4+Clip TIR5 alone TIR4 alone However, you can always buy the clip later, it is very expensive to upgrade TIR (as i have found). So maybe get TIR5, and later you might have cash for a clip. :juggle:

Cheers, have updated the post, Works either position for me. I believe Sobek is technically correct. Manual 'All flights are preformed must be performed in this (auto) mode, except for specific emergencies.' ch 6-10
-
Hmm! Dont know what you mean by full auto?

Like many things in life they are actually easy, if u know how. 0. Heading and Alt hold off. 1. collective full off (brake position) 1. trim cyclic approx 25% forward, centered. 2. move the throttle to second detent. (zero is idle) 3. bring up the cyclic to maybe 3 or 4 deg (I have brake on the end of the cyc. 4. push the col forward more to commence forward motion. 5. when movement starts, put the cyc back to 1deg. 6. now use the col for forward or brake (push or pull) 7. now use col + rudder for steering left or right. 8. remember you should not have to push the stick forward too much to turn, centered at 25% trim should be enough to pull the nose around. Note: the idea is to get some 'weight' off the bird (hence the throttle+col), so the nose wheel can easily turn to the direction of 'lift'. But if u put too much col, then you can 'tip' it over. If you are 'trimmed' correctly for taxi (col/throttle/cyclic) then you should not really need to use the brake at all!! Wheel works a bit like a 'shopping' trolley, it responds to the direction you push it,(or in this case its more like a 'pull'. Hope this helps.

Cheers that did it. Works like a charm. Had the sequence wrong, was selecting target first instesad of wingman/wingmen.

You will find this post helpful. 'Share your best tips for newbies'

Hmm. I only seem to get the target icon 'flashing' after i have turned it off. I can then cycle through them. Then I transfer the one I want. Will try it again though.
-
Hi all. To hand off targets to the wingman, I designate/lock with the shkval, then commit the target to memory. Then switch off the shkval, then select the target from the data link control panel, and pass it to the chosen wingman. Works fine. Wondering if there a way to do it and keep the shKval illuminating the same area, because once i switch it off, i gotta set all the stuff up again, find the target area etc. I'm sure its just something im mission, because it would be a bit pointless (and time consuming) if the pilot had to completely setup again for finding a target after handing on off. Cheers

Finally Smooth Flying with these Graphic Settings
Fish replied to toby23's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Just updated from an E6850@3.0 to a Q9650@3.6, and XP to Vista 32. Game now looks and feels amazing. 1920x1200, with full cockpit textures. -
Helmet-mounted sight - When/how often do you use it?
Fish replied to Jack McCoy's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Sometimes i find the front pane view, with the dimmed HUD glass, cluttered, and poorer in visibility than the 'side' windows, and difficult to identify more obscure targets. I will put the target area on my 2oc or 10oc, then use the HMD, through the side windows, as others above. TIP: during initial flight setup, i always dim down the HMD, and HUD until i can barely see them. This gives me great visibility for target aquisition -
Solved!!! There was a problem with my cougar profile, in that any time i trimmed, it ignored the rudder trim. I changed this now, so i can trim the cyclic and the rudder together. On my first test of this, i could set the ball in the center, with the cyclic forward and left of center, and the rudder slightly right. Now its off for retraining, to fly with rudder trim on.!! Thanks for all who contributed

sorry posted in wrong thread.

Yes I'm talking of steady forward flight, fairly fixed speed, fixed (cyclic)pitch forward (trimmed), and use collective to maintain speed/alt. Did not consider the wind but would expect it has less impact at bigger speeds. Will try again flying directly into/against wind, where there's not cross-wind component, to see how it flies.
-
K,T on, H,B off. Speeds say, steady 220kph.(in as much as i can maintain this steady.
-
Thats exactly my question. How do u 'put the ball in the middle!
-
Makes perfect sense . And No i dont fly without yaw channel, (except when under extreme flight envelope conditions, it fails to remain active,) as the undampened motion tends to make me queasy.!
