Is anyone else finding it confusing knowing from looking down, on a bright clear day, if these switches are on or off? I find it difficult depending on how light is reflecting on them. Is there any 'fool proof way of knowing which status they are in. (ive tried sunglasses, but it does not work )

So its probably gonna need to use up another 'activation' to have it on another machine. :no_sad: I wonder is there any intention to make a dedicated server for BS. ?

Another way is switch on the Shkval, with heading hold on, then slew the target designator box left or right outside the hud bounds. AP works to bring the body of the KA so the TD box is again within the HUD. If its targeting or searching that you are needing do to then this is a good way. Ka remains pretty stable throughout this process.

sory mate. dunno. cant see why not. driver update and device manager look the same in vista as xp. dont install any saitek drivers if u want dhaus drivers.

Hi All, I still have one of these old birds in use, with Dhauzimmer's drivers. Ive completed a profile for Black shark, and have included the png file and PDP file for anyone who wants to change or improve on it. They are all in the file found HERE Its got three modes, Default, shifted, and safe. activation and actions are described in the txt file in the zip, and focuses mostly on mimicing the IPV and Abris control buttons and rotary. I'm sure someone would do a better job on the grafix, profile does what its supposed to, and eliminates the keyboard for me.

Help with graphical glitch in clouds?
Fish replied to luden's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Me too. Same problem, clouds have funny 'low res' pixaleted edges in distance, then flicker when flying throug them. Using lates drivers with 8800ultra. Changed the 'Maximum prerendered frames to 1. It took a couple of game restarts for the changes to be effective, but its good now. Game looks and plays wonderfully (been away from sims for 2 yrs). EDIT. No not solved. When i restarted the game it was back. Will post if i get a resolution -
Hi all, Been getting to grips with BS. I can easily play back a trk file, but can't seem to 're-edit' it like lomac. Is it possible with BS'?

Thanks that did it. Once i updated the software, I had to update the games list again, to get BS on there. Cheers for al replies.

Thanks for the quick reply Sorry, i have edited post above. Yes I see the TIR axes mapped to the game controls, uder axis commands. but no movement when i get into the pit. I can move with the keys fine. Yes, software was not up to date, so i updated, but unfortunately no difference to the outcome. No blue light on TIR, I get green light, with profile loaded. I should be able to force game to see the 'default' selected profile. Either way, with default profile, or game selected one, gives same result. No movement in the pit.

Hi all, Ive just installed DCS, and have a profile for DCS Listed in my TIR games list. I have linked a good profile with the DCS, and left the profile to automatic selection. Gauges check out fine. However when i start DCS, and go into mission, there is no movement from TIR. I exit the mission, and check out the controls. Here I see a list of key combinations, under axis commands i see the tir axis's listed there (mapped). It sounds like im missing something very simple. Just a note to say, that i dont have any joystick installed at the moment (long story), but wanna get familiar with the avionics in the meantime. Cant see this having any bearing on TIR though. Anyone else got problems like this, and anyone solved them Also noted that i can get the mouse look if it ESC then click CANCEL. and switch it off if i change to ext view. Strange. Any advice welcome on the TIR problem. Thanks in advance.

SU-33 carrier landing almost impossible?!
Fish replied to SoaringEagle74's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Well if you find that difficult, then you havent tried landing the SU25t on normal runway!!! -
Yes definitely a game ahead of its time.

Just tried this with my new rig, E6850, 8800gfx, with the settings pumped up, and have put on some old tracks i had recorded. (havent been flying for some time so stick is in storage) Boy does this sim still hold up. It looks absolutely fantastic. Nothing in my experience comes as close the the feel of real flight as this sim. Im only now seeing it as it should be seen. Beautiful.

Ive used GC since version one came out, and have found it great for all except Operation flashpoint, where i kept getting incorrect commands being intrepreted. I recently updated my system, and found that GC2 gives me a 'blue screen error' when i try to run GC2 in test mode. So ive bit the bullet, and installed Shoot. Its much more complicated to setup but, it works like a charm, and no mistakes or wrong commands in OPF. Have not tried it in FC or F4, but im sure it will work just fine. Its easy to edit the profiles with any old text editor, as they are stored as xml files. And theres a nice HTML output from them. GC2 was super in its day, but time to move on.

No problem here with rudder. im using all tm gear.

Top up your $20, and order Armed Assault here TIR in a FPS is awesome, and the game is excellent.
-
I did indeed misunderstand. Your point is well made Alfa. Anything which helps wean beginners onto TIR is good. I know several 'experienced' virtual pilots, who have the device, but do not use it or use it to its potential.

Well you know the old saying doctors differ etc......... Ive posted this before on this subject, but can't remember which forum. I (like Aeroscout) work with fairly flat profiles, and a 'centering' button always to hand on my hotas. (the on off button is actually pretty useless to me). Yes my 'comfortable position' changes all the time, sometimes i need to stretch on the chair, sometime i sit upright, sometimes closer, and somtimes i roll m chair in and 'slouch' in it. And all in the same flight! And i dont reset each time i move. I just do it when i need it. Most time the view will be a little off center, but no matter, once i can see what i want around me. And the icing on the cake for no deadzones, is the 'center' position can now be moved. So if your doing a landing with 6dof, you can 'sit up' and look more over the canopy. This by just dropping you position, hit the re-center key, then back to normal, and woolaaaaa you view is now raised a little. Similarly if much of you work (LBG delivery or bVR for example) is in the pit, you can set it so you 'center' position is looking more at the mfds. Ive been with TIR for a number of years, (until i seen the light... :) )and like most used deadbands for a couple of years. The reason being that we all move to TIR from the normal 2d or panning 3d (with a pan reset key) and get very comfortable with the pit being 'exactly' in the center of the screen' when we are looking forward. Thats fine if your making a video, or someone else is watching you fly. But it really is not that important if the 3d pit is well implemented in the sim. (im not talking about major shifts from the center position here. Check out the A2A fuel in this video , to see what i mean. Position is off center a little but refuelling goes smoothly...) I know pilots are fairly well strapped in to their jets, particularly fighters, but they also need some freedom of movement, as can be seen when they can look over their shouder. This is how TIR shoud be... IMHO. Try it that way for a while. I'll be surprised if u change back to deadzones when you do..

F-117's being phased out starting as of now.
Fish replied to Pilotasso's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
You'r showing your age, and reminding me of mine............. :) -
To get the effects u see in the movie, you need no deadszones,(with a centering button easily accessible from your hotas, ie without looking down) that way its very natural movement. But like Ross said, start gently. I suggest dont enable 6DOF, just activate yaw and pitch (left right, up down) and get used to it gently. Also spend some time in the pit, without the complilcation of flight. If you have lockon, or IL2, you can replay a flight using it, that way ur like a spectator. And here's the place i got mine FYI. Dident take that long cause they ship from the UK to Europe. eDimensional . U might find it more convenient that Natural point

Here's a little pit movie from EECH. EECH TIR Movie This sim might keep you from cold turkey, while you wait on Black Shark. You will get a start here. http://www.eechcentral.com/
