  1. Sounds like a plan. Will need to map my rudder trim.
  2. Thanks for reply. I'm not sure what u mean by 'allowed', or by who. I'd be very surprised if RL pilots are not thought how to fly with all combination's of AP on and off, and i can imagine many situations particularly in combat, where they would need the discretion to decide how best use the tools at their disposal. I dont use the FD, just the Abris, and HSI, and i do trim frequently during flight. I am keen to understand the flight dynamics/envelope of the Ka with/withoug all the combination of AP, and flying aids
  3. Na, dont think so. I use the 'AXIS' indicator all the time. Rudder centers perfectly at rest. Constantly trim in forward flight to get correct forward speed/direction, altitude. Dont use the FD mode, im talking about free flight. I can switch to AP anytime when flying to a WP. That does not help me understand the flight dynamics. Don't have rudder trim mapped to my stick. Maybe i should.
  4. Hi all, Ive spent a fair few hours in the ka pit now. but still have difficulty centering te ball in normal forward flight. I generally fly with only pitch and roll ap on. I use the slingle trim button, and dont generally trim rudder. I understand thats it not a very efficient way to fly if the slip indicator is not centered. Generally it finds its way to the right, indicating sideslip to starboad, which may have something to do with the rotation direction. of the rotors. Any comments would be great, or reference to other thread/s
  5. Dont forget to put a wide dead band on both the x and y axes in the hotas software for the microstick, that gives more control over movements
  6. DONT FLY WITH THROTTLES SET FULL Normal flight should be in second (one from the top) detent. You are less likely to 'over cook' the engines for long flights. TAXI AND TAKEOFF WITH HEADING AND ALT AP BUTTONS OFF Engage these in AP, Hover, or Target tracking modes only. SWITCH THE COCKPIT GAUGE LIGHTS ON Even in daylight, these give a better view of the instruments. (LSHF K) ALWAYS FLY WITH THE AXIS INDICATOR SWITCHED ON Its vital to know what you are at, cause the sim cant simulate the real stick position (CTL ENT) DIM THE HUD AND HMD REALLY LOW This will help you see your targets more clearly, they only need to be bright enough to read and see. USE THE CYCLIC TO STEER WHILE TAXIING. Not like fixed wing, rudder does little to steer at low ground speed. Use the cyclic instead, with throttle detent to pos 1, and cyclic pitch 1deg. USE THE SIDE WINDOW VIEW Sometimes gives better visual view of distant targets. Not obscured by hud glass. Use HMD to lock shkval on them, and autoturn to line up. TO SLOW AT LOW ALT, BANK STEEPLY, KEEPING ALT CONST, PULL ON COLLECTIVE, DROP CYCLIC. When u dont have the time to bleed forward speed and can't afford to gain alt but have room to maneuver. Approach you landing spot with an offset, and bank steeply into it. Im wondering when is a newbie, not a newbie ? :smartass:
  7. Think hovering and guided weapons have been covered well in other topics. For lining up on static/moving targets with ungiuuded weapons there is a contradiction because unless you are at the same alt as the target u cant line up with a hover. Once you are lined up, your in a condition for moving forward. One way to hit is to fire as a 'snapshot' while the target moves through the firing reticule. If you have time, and depending on the threat, you can hold up, generate a little negative speed, then as you nose forward to line up the target, you have a little time before you start to increase the forward speed. if you don't succeed, then again pull back on the stick to generate a small reverse speed, and try again. This technique helps keep stand off distance, but you are presented as a nice sitting target. Other alternative is to nose forward, and 'fly through the target, then overfly and come around again, or break off before reaching the target and come around again. This one brings you very close to the target, and if your not successful in elininating it, it's likely to focus on your rear end as you egress. Its probably the reason why these 'attack' helicopters have helmet mounted 'slaved' guided munitions as their primary attack modes. Just another 0.02$
  8. If you got a throttle, the use then KB + and KB- keys cause they are spare. Works good here.
  9. Sorry but no its not to do with crash recovery, neither is it to do with tab control shift. The mission 'Confrontation 4x4.miz' as an example , allows you to get right into a new bird if the last one has been destroyed. Not a new slot, the same slot, as many times as you like. In fact if you wish to get back on the tarmac with a new bird, you simply select ESC, then hop into the same slot. There must be something in the mission editor which allows a player vehicle to be respawned. But i can't find it. Else its some kind of scripting which i don't understand.Someone who made mp missions for FC would know, because the same reswning was avaliable in some FC MP missions, from what i remember of my online sessions. Thanks
  10. Is there a way to make player units (clients) respawn from the mission editor when they have been destroyed/ damaged. Thanks. Noticed some default MP missions where this happened.
  11. Hi All, I have a decent PC with very basic Grafix chip. I use it as a dedicated server for some games. Im wondering could i use it as a server for BS. I know BS does not have a dedicated server, and im sure the machine would not meet the minimum game requirements for grafix. I don't want to use up one of my activations, if there's only a slim chance that this is going to work. Answer in this thread in the MP forum. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=34252 Moderator please feel free to move this post to the MP forum. Thanks
  12. Many thanks and I agree, it would be in immense task to keep the two databases aligned. I thought that tacview used the in game terrain database, and that the problem was one of 'calibration' of the object position relative to the database. I suppose tacview would need to be integrated into BS or FC to effectively resolve this. Great tip
  13. I user the KB+ and KB- keys to center and pause TIR from BS, since these keys are used for the collective, which you cougar throttle handle should be doing. These are then assigned to appropriate keys on the cougar, where i can get at them quickly, especially the 'center' one.. You can get the cougar and TIR files at the begining of this post.
  14. Thats good advice
  15. Great tool, and its what it says, its a 'tactical' tool, focused on mission tactics, rather than flight training and maneuvers. I relly love the way you can pan back and forth with the slider, all in an instant, and look at different events at the same time. It truly compliments the in flight trk files, which are great for seeing how you fly, and has great cinematic visuals. I have one query. I flew a mission in mp last night with 2 human pilots, flight took us down a valley and over the mountains. We flew straight down the valley, but when i look at the tac file, it looks like we are flying through one side of the mountains at times, Like as if the location is shifted. Not sure why this should be. Its like its out of calibration or something. Wonder would latency cause it, eventhough our flight was very smooth without connection difficulties? Any ideas?
  16. Cheers bestrokin. Works great out of the box! Only had to change the voice activation button, and the comms keystroke (european keyboard). Update: Here's a command reference for anyone who wants it. BS Shoot Reference.rar
  17. Anybody done yet, and is willing to share a Shoot comms profile for BS?
  18. Here's my profile I avoid dead bands, and precision mode, as your head is actually very sensitive, and you get used to small movements. To compensate for this i have the TIR centering button close at hand, and use it regularly (at least as regularly as the stick trim!!), and i also have the 'pause' button close at hand, if I urgently need to fix on a 'view'. The profile (among my other input device profiles) is here if you need it.
  19. Yeah thats seems to be whats happening. After reboot, clouds are good, but once i load another 3d application, and then try it, i get these bad clouds. I tried with 2 games, ARMA, and IL2, one is directx other is OpenGL. Even happens after loading BS!, which is similar graphics engine At least now I have a workaround so that's something.:music_whistling:
  20. Finally, think that fixed it for me.
  21. First detente is pretty much idling, and with pitch down to 1deg, there's very little torque, once it gets rolling. Can't imagine that doing damage. Not sure about the AP, probably right, I always take off with those off anyway. Heading channel always causes me problems on the ground (and in the air). So i switch it off! Think there's another good thread discussing this AP channel.
  22. Ive updated the profile files. I have added the following in the shifted mode, to aid track playback. ALT/TAB, Camera close/far Zoom in/out, speed up/slow down sim. And have the EJECT working also along with GEAR in Safe mode only. Simply download again.
  23. Here's a technique I use to control the Ka on the apron, and taxiway. Disengage the AP ALT and AP heading Set the throttle (yellow handles) to the first detent (from the bottom). trim the cyclic a little forward (symmetrical- use the axis indicator to see it RCTL ENT). Now increase the blade pitch to 6/7, and push the cyclic forward to start moving. When moving, return pitch to 1deg. You can control forward speed by pushing the cyclic more or less forward. To steer, push the cyclic forward and to the side you want to turn to, use rudder in the same direction, as required. If turn rate drops, slow down or stop and start with cyclic pushed correctly with the rudder in the dirction u are turning, and increase the blade pitch till you start moving again. Always have the wheel brake close at hand.
  24. SP, OPTIONS, GAMEPLAY, COCKPIT LANGUAGE
  25. There used to be a way (ALT BSP) to restore the recorded view during playback of a track in FC. Im wondering is there something similar with BS. I cant see anything in the keyboard file. Thanks
