On further testing it appears to be my mission which is the cause. This mission, or rather the Vipers in it, used to work properly before the summer holiday however. So in the mission, the AP is acting up and not really keen on maintaining altitude. You will also notice that the AOA indexer and NWS/AR lights are dimmed as well when you enter the cockpit. Is the steerpoint follow supposed to follow the elevation of the steerpoint, or just the direction? I have the impression it is following the elevation, regardless of ALT HOLD set.

Hey folks, Anyone else experiencing the autopilot not working properly in DCS 2.5.6.53756 Open Beta? When I select ALT HOLD, the plane actually starts to descend towards the ground. My INS alignment was done properly (including ENT on long / lat / alt) Best regards, Mud

I wish I would have formulated my letters to Santa like that, back in the days. :) -
I had a freeze / CTD when doing ESC > Setup Controls during a flight. On the ramp this did not cause a crash. Map: Caucasus Specs in signature. Best regards, Mud dcs.log

 Ah, good to know. I have been doing it wrong then so far. I only started using the turbo lever above a certain altitute when manifold pressure starts dropping.

Should take-off not be done without the boost lever aft?

Linking them however can result in a loss of performance. I don't know if that is modelled in DCS however. See I have the Warthog also, and felt I don't need an axis for the mixture settings. So 3 is enough. I have bound mixture back and forward to the china hat.

I find this to be an issue with all WW2 birds, making it quite a challenge to trim properly. I wish a small tap on the trim switch or hotas would give a very small increment, while a longer hold would allow for bigger, faster changes.

How do you turn on the oxygen? Or does the flow / blinker start automaticaly at a certain altitude?
-
This has never been an issue for me. You just copy your Saved Games folder from DCS somewhere before a Windows reinstall, and then import your control bindings from there. The USB ID plays no role there.

From the Spitfire manual (not DCS): At no time must the drop tank cock and the rear fuselage tanks cock be on together or fuel from the rear fuselage tanks will drain into the drop tank since the connection from these tanks joins the drop tank connection below the non-return valve.

Too me it seems like they added a new effect which has to do with rapid loss of elevation, causing your ears to go "wheeeeee".

Are there any plans to have the lights turned off again by default, or is it going to remain this way?

[NO BUG]auto-start procedure missing fuel-pump on and fuel tank pressure on.
Mud replied to D4n's topic in Bugs and Problems
Indeed, as far as I know there is no harm in turning the fuel pump switch on, as long as the engine is running OR the mixture is in the OFF position (with engine off). -
[NO BUG]auto-start procedure missing fuel-pump on and fuel tank pressure on.
Mud replied to D4n's topic in Bugs and Problems
- Fuel pressure should not be turned on unless the fuel pressure warning light comes on during flight. - Fuel pump may be turned on once the engine is running, but this is not required unless you climb to high altitudes. -
For people still running into this, the folders under kneeboard should be called: P-51D-25-NA P-51D-30-NA

In a chart of Chucks guide you can see that for max range, an RPM of 1800 is used at around 3500 feet. When I fly at that setting, with a boost of +0 and weather set to +12°C, my coolant temperature is around 49°C only. I did manage to fly from the UK to France, then increase RPM and boost for combat, and then fly back on the economic settings without any issues. Questions: - Is the low temperature normal a bug? - Is it harmful for the engine to run at those temperatures? EDIT: I actually see the chart is in the DCS manual (page 144) Br, Mud

To follow up on this: I think I found the culprit. The black part with the white ring on top which slides over the 4 metal struts. There is some wear on the parts which slide over the metal struts, especially on the holes in the white ring. Mind you, I have +2000 hours of use on the HOTAS. I contacted TM to see if I can order that part from them. I will report back here once I have an update.

It's just a bit a play. Of course it get's extended since I am using an extension. Rotating the big spring around can sometimes help in the sense that the play will be only on the roll axis for instance. But most of the time it's on the pitch and roll axis.
-
Yeah, I think with the Virpil stick it might work, but the weight of the TM stick is just too much. I even managed to put two springs on top of each other in the WarBRD and that still was not enough to properly center the stick. I do have the stick between my legs though, on a chair which is slightly reclinced backward. With the TM base it works fine, just the center play is something I wish I could sort out.
-
I own the WarBRD, but it's paperweight to me since I fly with an 11cm extension. The springs in the WarBRD are not strong enough for that.
-
I have seen several posts of people experiencing the issue where the stick has or develops some slack at the center, which is very annoying for precision flying. Since it has to be a problem of a mechanical nature, I'm positive there must be a way to solve it. Yet I have not managed to sort it out myself yet. Has anybody been able to find a solution/fix for this?

Speed of Sound = delay of sound with distance
Mud replied to Dutchmill64's topic in Game Performance Bugs
I have noticed a delay in sound when watching explosions from distance. -
I had this a while ago when flying RTB in Nevada. The contrails of my F/A-18 were being blown perpendicular to my heading. I've only seen it happen once though.
