I guess I'm the only one not so exited about dcs a-10. To me it will be a pain.... why? because I will have buy it the same day of the release ergo I will most likely be at work; I will have to wait until 5 PM to grab my car and run to my house without getting a speeding ticket; it will take me another 45 minutes to get home (traffic is awful here ) after that; I will have to endure the stressful process of downloading the game; I will count each bit of data being downloaded to my computer; I will look desperate at the loader seeking for the magical 100%; after that I would have to gather strength to endure the installation process. After all that I will come to realize my worts nightmare! I won't be able to play it because my computer wont be powerful enough :( that would be the worst torture; knowing that I will have the best simulator ever produced but wont be able to use it! It would be like having a fully loaded su-27 on my garage but without the pilot license to use it!

ok;can you guys explain to me what is the fsx fiasco? To me fsx is not that bad; it is an upgrade over flight simulator 2004; I can't run it smoothly on my computer; but the same happened to me when flight simulator 2004 was released.

how come they have more mi-24 than mi-8 that doesn't make sence at all. looking at the numbers it appears than the russians lack helicopter transportation, my country has around 70 blackhawks and we are small country; now if you count the other types (mi-17,uh-1hs, jetrangers etc.)of helicopters we have, then the russian numbers look even worst. This numbers look way off to me.

An important point in favor of the eagle is that it is a bit smaller and lighter than the flanker; the flanker has a lot of inertia on the roll and pitch so you really have to be very Smoot with the flanker. It takes more skill to use the piper on the flanker than on the eagle.

I still think that this fifth generation birds are too expensive; at this point there would be no nation able to afford loses on any type of conflict let alone accidents. Now another think I don't like is that lockheed is involved in too many weapons programs. Why rely in one company to produce most of your weapons and if you as a government are giving so many contracts to this companies; shouldn't you expect this company to give you better prices. How are they going to replace the f-16 with this if it is not an affordable fighter like the f-16 was when launched back in the 70's

What is the big black panel in the front for? That map reminds me of the tornado IDS map, have this birds been upgraded? What is the advantage of using a mig-31 instead of the su-30 and what is the standard mission profile for this bird; is this thing able to super-cruise?

I used to love formula one; but got totally tired of the manipulative and dirty side of f-1. Things like letting your team mate pass you just because he is a bit faster than you; and has more points than you totally ruin the sport. The Renault incident and Mclaren espionage are clear examples of how unethical formula 1 has become. F1 is supposed to be a competition not a personality contest; Ayrton Senna said before; if you are not willing to fight for the first place; don't compete. I also got tired of x driver get the pole; x driver wins if he doesn't make a bad mistake since he's got the bets car. Got tired of watching pit-crews win positions instead of the drivers. Got tired of drivers not fighting for the fist place since it is to risky to pass the guy in front. Monaco is cool but it is almost impossible to see passings if you don't have crazy people like the old school drivers. A lot of people consider f-1 drivers the best drivers in the world; to me this is not 100% true; I would rather see crazy rally drivers beat the crap out of their cars without even knowing the road, that to me is much more exiting impressive than f-1.

Venezuelans are saying that they operated their su-30mk2 at a hight of 65 thousand feet and 72. I wonder if they were clean and low in fuel to operate at that altitude; they said operated; it is not clear if this was a zoom climb.

They also bought diferent versions of the flanker intead of buying a single model with bigger numbers. How do you spect them to integrate togueder if all of them have different equipment.

What I like about x-plane is the fluidity of the instruments and the flight model, I would say that x-plane as it comes in the box is less attractive than fsx; at least the stock models in fsx come with virtual cockpit; so it feels more immersive; xplane also looks a bit dark; the lighting feels like it is overcast all the time. I guess with time xplane can become the best civil sim; it just need more publishers launching quality models, and more people doing their own stuff like on fsx, fs2004, etc.

Now that we are talking about the mirage 5 or V; what is the instantaneous turn rate of this jet, sustained and roll rates. I saw one of these doing some crazy pulls in my country several years ago it was very cool.

the answer is on wiki This occurs at the speed for which the difference between thrust and drag is the greatest (maximum excess thrust). In a jet airplane, this is approximately minimum drag speed, or the bottom of the drag vs. speed curve. Climb angle is proportional to excess thrust for example for the f-15 the best climb speed is around 800km/h, but for that you have to adjust your rate of climb; at least that is how they achieve the altitude record on the f-15 here is the video of the maneuver :

Pilotasso if you want the most accurate su-27 I recommend you get the airfix su-27 or the heller russian knights su-27 ub; these two are the only ones that capture the look of the real airplane, I would suggest building your own cockpit windshield for these; since they are not exactly perfect; and sanding the nose cone to achieve the crane-like appearance.
