Some people think that Santos Dumont did the first powered flight instead of the Wright brothers. Sadly he lost all his passion about airplanes when he found that the became killing machines instead of the unifying machines he dream off.

What about the Malaysian su-30 , to me it looks like it has tons on new gadgets on it, even more than the the mki from india

yeah, some pilots didn't like the mig-23 at all, Alexander Zuyev on his book says that the mig-23 had several strong points, but was accepted with less testing than other jets thanks to soviet bureaucracy, He mention that the short landing requirements were achieved by faking the real performance of the airplane; like releasing the drag parachute just before the jet hit the runway with its landing gear; even then the landing gear will suffer a lot from that type of landings. He also says that it was difficult to land because the jet tended to float and bounce really easily and if the pilot was not careful enough that bounce could end up in an ugly landing for the instructors eyes or worst a crash. He said that flying the mig-23 was like flying 3 different jets, because it will behave totally different depending on the swept angle, speed and throttle position. In other words a jet that required lots of training to not only fly but to master it.

mmm; maybe that is why I like to fly the su-27 more than the american jets in lock-on!

The blackbird also had its issues like intakes closing at mach 3 leaving you with asymmetric thrust; that caused crashes; It had lower g limits than the mig-25. That doesn't mean that either one is of lower engineering quality. The russians had several problems to solve with the new interceptor 1- They needed an aircraft big enough to accommodate a radar immune to jamming from bombers and other types of aircrafts. 2- They were worried about electromagnetic pulses from an atomic blast, so they could not make this new interceptor a high tech gadget as an american jet. 3-they didn't have the transistor like the americans, I believe that this is also an ideological issue, since russians prefer to do their own math instead of using a calculator. 4- They had titanium but not the tools, they also didn't want to mess with designing sophisticated tooling 5-The mission was to take off go fast and launch their missiles, so there was no need for maneuverability. 5- They needed a new interceptor fast an cheap 6- This bird was to be maintained by a trained specialist and several conscripts, some of them with very little education. So what they came up with? They designed a super-powerful and yet simple radar but using vacuum tubes, this ended up being a bless since they are less susceptible to atomic blasts and they don't break as much as transistors. (of that era) Since titanium was so difficult to handle they used iron instead when it was possible. They also welded several parts of the jet to speed up the building and to make it cheap. The engines were a carryover from a missile I believe therefore the limitations with speed. The engine was already there so why messing around by designing a new engine if we don't have time? At the end the russian were able to make the fastest operational interceptor quickly and relatively cheap. How many blackbirds and a-12 were build in the US? And noooo I'm not saying that the mig is better, it is just that the russian used what was available to them to provide results while the american went above and beyond with less concern about the money, this strategy also gave America fantastic airplanes but at a bigger cost and sophistication, at the end the a-12; a technological marvel was cancelled, while the Russian kept their migs-25.

Here are my questions! So... what happens on the mig and su-27 when you loose an engine or both? do you loose power to the controls in a double engine flameout? I read that on the f-18 one of the engines provide power to the flight control system and if you loose it you loose control of the airplane? was that the case with the f-18 that crashed on San Diego? The report says that one of the engines was malfunctioning due to a fuel line problem and when the pilot was close the the base the other engine quit and he had no control after that. Why most of the russian cockpits are painted blue? (the mig-35 has a dark cockpit way cooler to me) What is the start up procedure for the su-27? What happens after you pull to much (going slow) and override the stick bumper or pusher on the mig-29, does the airplane drops one of its wings violently like you can expect form a regular swept wing aircraft or it drops gently? Is it possible to enter a flat spin on the f-16 or a wing rock? there is a report of an accident on wich an f-16 loaded with a ventral fuel tank crashed because the pilot lost control wile pulling to much and the airplane stalled and crashed into the sea, if that is the case; I tough that the f-16 flight control system would not allow you to get into spins.

What about the Kamchatka peninsula? We could have japan and some parts of china included, imagine the theater of operation! Japan's self-defence forces agains the russian federation, nato included there and the chinese forces! We could have a mission on which you have to take your mig-29 to japan in order to scape from russia, and of course you could also play the roll of the su-27s chasing the traitor mig!

Well the Navy is not waiting for the Chinese. There four Aircraft-carriers getting some cool upgrades at Norfolk Virginia and some secret testing too ... I'm going to post some pictures later.

2 f-15s , one tanker to kill a group of terrorist armed with machineguns and an rpg? is that cost effective? I think that the Air Force needs a light attack airplane to do this types of missions, something like the old Bronco or the Brasilian tucano. I can't deny that those eagles look bad ass.

Is it possible to create new cocckpits models for lock-on 2.0?

What are you guys talking about this is a complete chinese design :megalol::megalol: the good thing is that in a few years this original designs will be abaliable with plenty spares parts here in the States; but I bet that those americans are going to call it su-33 ingnoring that this is a true original chines design :megalol::megalol::megalol::megalol: like they do with their "mig-15" copies.

If you look at the pictures one engine exhaust looks fully open and the other llooks like it is "closed"

So... what happened to this inventor, is he still building airplanes, his work on the zero was fantastic. Sad and funny documentary.

Canadian f-18 crash today here is the link for the video http://www.globalnews.ca/world/crashes+alta+airport/3315220/story.html looks like the 89 mig crash; but lower? engine failure or stall?

Since you guys know so much about computer building; you should came out with 3 types of computers that fit diferent ideologys: socialist computer package : A computer for the worker's party; designed for the working class, a computer that have cheap components that work thogether as one and produce the "same class" of performance of capitalist class computer. all that done by a very low budget proposed by the socialist party. note:The capitalist class would be discussed later. Note: "same class" denotes performance estimations on capitalist computer performance charts obtained by the intelligence agents of our party. Sweden Class computer: Nor to fancy, nor as cheap an crudely made as the socialist computer package. This is a neutral computer designed with just the right combination of stuff to leave those nasty Socialist package behind while keeping the pace with the capitalist computer package. Capitalist Computer package: A computer that seeks the absolute performance with little concern about budget and schedules. A computer on which the latest components are not even yet commercialized. The Capitalist package considers cryogenic cooling systems, terabyte hard drives, bearings-less cooling fans as technologies of the past.

If that is true the should call the people who worked on the original project, at least that would give them a decent job. What are they going to use the ekranoplane for? as a ferry? I imagine this machine crossing from Dover to Calais that would be like the ultimate chip! something like a concord of the sea.

Here is the The US Department of transportation Safety Circular for the albatross, interesting read, specially about how you deal with an airplane with bad engine maintenance records.
