  1. Hey Wags, thanks for the list. I wasn't really expecting you to chime in, but rather one of the testers. I'd thought one of them might be able to throw something together quickly, and simply. I figured ED would be too busy, and not have the time to just pop something out. In other words I was looking for a quick Black Shark fix from someone not too heavily involved in the production effort. Well..since you're here, how about a new video this weekend? :D might as well ask, and let someone tell me "no". ;) Flyby (alias Mr. Gimme-lend me-let me have)
  2. OK so now there's a request for a (non-combat) night movie from within the cockpit, and a request for a demonstration of datalink usage. Do mine first (flying with nvg) as it should be simpler to produce! :D Flyby
  3. now that's encouraging! Hi GA, Thanks for at least looking in on this thread! Flyby out
  4. no, no, Urze... I'm not just talking little snippets of night flying here. I'm talking about a movie devoted to night flying. EDGE is impressive, but the few seconds of nvg flying barely whetts the appetite. A full-blown night-flying movie is just the ticket. :D Unless I ask for it, I may never know if anyone is interested in making such a movie. I don't need to see night combat. Indeed, a simple night flight moving up to a farp as if in preparation for a mission (without the mission). Just a couple of minutes of night flying is all I'm asking. Anyone? Flyby
  5. Can someone make a simple, and short movie? Just a little dittie showing some nighttime flying with the view from within the cockpit flying through the valleys or something? Just asking. Thought it might be nice to see,and might not be to much work to produce. thanks, Flyby PS yes I know the the BS is not considered a night attack gunship. ;)
  6. Leafer, you trouble-maker! :D don't you know those guys who write the reviews get paid by the letter? Add charts, and they get a bonus! (j/k) I tend to skip the middle portions of hardware reviews, and look at the section on gaming performance, then read the conclusion. For me that about sums the article up most of the time. carrying on! ;) Flyby
  7. Just a quick link to Tom's hardware where the discussion is about overclocking the new Intel processors. http://www.tomshardware.com/2007/12/13/can_water_push_yorkfield_to_5_ghz/ Something to think about if you're of a mind to go that way. Flyby
  8. I like the new website format. Now I can check on the LOCKON forums without any fuss at all. Nice work. It's a nice improvement. (now stop patting yourselves on the back, and get back to work;)) Flyby out
  9. have you tried...? I suggest you try www.Netwings.org It may have someone there with the same problem. Or perhaps you can try searching Microsoft's website? Good luck to you. Flyby
  10. Welcome deviletk! The more the merrier for Black Shark, I say. I hope you and your mates have had a chance to look over the avaialbe Black Shark videos, and found them as exciting as I have. This sim looks to be very challenging for game-play, so if you loved Falcon, and LOMAC, Black Shark might just be your "cup of tea". Personally, I am from the state of Ohio, USA. I'm sure you will find us a pleasant enough group and literally from all over the planet.so again, welcome!:) Flyby
  11. the air is clear again. ;) Flyby
  12. are they really? I had no idea they were using the old IL2 engine. No offense but that doesn't seem correct to me. It would be nice if someone from DCS or otherwise in the know clarified/denied/verified this. Flyby
  13. plenty-many cpu cycles Go here all. Hope this helps explain things a bit. There will be mid-level Penryns coming out very soon. Not just the expensive ones like in the article. http://forums.vr-zone.com/showthread.php?t=204686 Flyby
  14. thanks for the quick reply, GGT. Good feedback. ;) I'm actually waiting on reports of the new mid-line dual-core, and quad core Penryns. Flyby
  15. all-weather aspects of the game? It will be interesting to see how weather evolves in Black Shark, if there are plans to evolve it all. For sure, I don't know if the release will have complex weather effects, so I'm just speculating. But along this line of thought: 1- What is the Black Shark's all-weather combat capability or limitations? 2- How will weather at ground level be implemented in Black Shark? (You can set turbulence at altitude in LOMAC, iirc). 3- How will weather effect AI ground-anti-air assets in Black Shark_Land? Having asked those questions, I'd find it quite challenging to have real weather effects implemented in BS. But I think true weather implementation, while possibly quite immersive might be another hit on the processor. Even as I contemplate a computer upgrade, I don't think I can afford a top-end gpu card, nor even two good mid-range cards in SLI or Crossfire mode, let alone a top-of-the-line cpu. So any aspect of BS that eats cpu cycles, or costs me gpu performance would only impress me if it added to the immersion, and the overall suspension of disbelief. I'd then be willing to sell blood to finance further upgrades. (sorry for the drama) Flyby out
  16. does this mean... Wags does this mean in a coop mission all BS pilots will share the same info mission (waypoints, threat areas, target areas, etc) automatically? I'm guessing "yes" Flyby ps thanks for the ABRIS update. very informative.
  17. we'll see A single-seat gunship up against the NATO hordes! I foresee the online war skies blackened by masses of Black Shark gunships dispensing just desserts to the defilers of the Realm. Set up your defenses as best you can. They will avail you not one iota of safety! Oh btw, don't mind me. I'm just trying to keep my Black Shark mojo strong.:pilotfly: Flyby
  18. oh man look at all that NATO stuff! I can see the mission builder aspect of this sim is going to be fun with all that NATO equipment to blow up. I wonder what area of the maps best represents the landscape of the Fulda gap? Imagine flying close air support for a battalion of T-72Bs. ;) Flyby
  19. a mirror finish? hmmm... I say again, hmmm... Would an inbound missile be deterred if it saw it's reflection? hmmm...what would you do if you had to land quickly to hop out and take a whiz, then turned around and couldn't see the "Wonderwoman" helicopter? hmmm...a mirror finish. Things that make you go hmmm...:P Flyby
  20. Tornado for me It seems I already voted for the Tornado somewhere here. Anyway I too had the Tornado sim from DI. In fact I still have the Desert Storm add-on to it, though it can't be played without the original (anyone interested in it?). I recall the mission builder in that sim as being top notch. My second choice would be the Strike Eagle. Either one would make me happy. Flyby
  21. ya don't say... OK, B_GP. Thanks for the youtube link. I have TIR-3 with vector so I'm set (as soon as I build a new pc one of these days):music_whistling: I've seen this video before but forgot it showed mirrors while panning about. I agree the mirrors don't seem to show much, but maybe if I rose up in the seat a bit I might see the tail of the BS.:P Flyby
  22. Brit-GP to quote you: "no reason for Black Shark not to". I say hhmmmmm...sir. Hmmm. Me thinks the NDA might leave room for speculation, sir. Naaaa! Just kidding. Thanks for the reply. I suppose BS will, as you say, have optional mirrors. :) Ought to be nice. I wonder what the FOV of those mirrors are. Additionally, does anyone know if any gunships have side-mounted mirrors, as seen in fast movers, though maybe mounted outside? When I see helicopters flying sideways it makes me wonder if they're eevr concerned about what might strike the tail. But I guess they would not fly sideways at any great speed in close environments. Flyby ps great shot of the mirrors!! :D
  23. Hi All, I saw the post of the BS walk-around and noticed what seemed to be a top-mounted rear view mirror. I'm not sure if it was a mirror. Does anyone know if the BS has such a mirror, or any rear view mirrors at all AND if the sim will have mirrors implemented? Thanks for viewing this post. Flyby
  24. hey! hey!! Hey!!! ya gotta do the Fulda Gap. It's not been done adeqautely if at all (iirc). Imagine the battles philosophies. Imagine the scale and the horror. Second choice would be Korea (if you ever have the chance, see the film: Porkchop Hill, a classic). ;) Flyby
