Here is a short movie with two JTACS and an AWACS operating in DCS Ka-50 Black Shark, in DCS World 1.5.3. Please note, that to permit TurboHog's excellent mod to function, you must rename the "aircrafts" folder in the mod folder to "aircraft". This will permit JSGME to install the mod into the correct folder. Now for some missions!:D Best Regards David

Here is a short movie with the Mod in action. :D

OK, here is a shock! I have got a fully functional JTAC and AWACS in Ka-50 Black Shark in DCS 1.5.3 All I did was remove one letter from TurboHog's (Frett) original package! In TurboHog's KA-50 JTAC&AWACS 1.5 folder there are three sub folders, Bazar, Mods and Sounds. In the Mods folder there is a folder named "aircrafts". This I amended to "aircraft" and re installed the mod using JSGME. Result....JTAC and AWACS works in Black Shark in my 1.5.3 release version. I have tried it with two JTACS. A Predator and an infantry man. Both working on separate frequencies! With an AWACS overhead. A couple of replies are missing from our Russian accented pilot, but for the most part he replies completely. Right down to repeating the 9 line! Thanks again TurboHog, this has really enhanced my Black Shark mission making!:pilotfly: Best Regards

looking forward to it! The NTTR map uses -(negative) coords (I think) and I believe the Ka50 system does not currently handle these. ED are aware, via a bug report, and have it on their "to do" list! However it will be nice to have a JTAC in the Caucuses, even with an American accent!:D Regards, David

How do you enter western cords. in PVI-800

Can we also have a Ka50 JTAC facility please. The Hog and this sim are superb, for their navigational and battlefield situational awareness. With the NTTR map and later, (hopefully not much later) the Europe map, the navigation/targeting input modes are important. At least to some?;) -
I agree these campaigns are superbly compelling. I purchased TACVIEW to help me work out what I was doing wrong. This helped a great deal. However, I have a problem with my log file. It seems sometimes the log is not saved correctly. This halts any previous progress. Have a look at this thread. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=161101

I have installed the original via JSGME. I have no JTAC in my radio menu? There is no AWACS either:cry: Shame, I really thought this would work. All the Lua entries seem fine. Except that Home Fries' Lua files have very many addition entries that are missing from the original work. I tried adding these but messed up my install and had to remove them and revert to the original. Stumped! Anyone got this working with 1.5.3 final release? Cheers David

Is there any chance these mods can be in a download file? I would like to have a JTAC functional in the KA 50 missions! The thought of editing the lua files fills me with terror, my editing skills are naff! Can we ask TurboHog if he agrees? Regards David.

I am flying the Ka 50 as a British side helo. I have not seen any degradation in the sat nav....:smilewink: Interesting though if you have seen this:)

Thanks, I will have a rummage around for the mod. But I know the older missions are not 100% compatible with these new versions. I suppose I could use Triggar zones and radio transmissions to clear us into attack. So once we move into a "zone" the JTAC responds? Then mark the targets with smoke? Kind of like a pseudo JTAC. Cheers! Edit I tried the mod from Turbohog. It seems that it does not work in 1.5.3 or 2.1. There are lua edits listed in the thread, I tried these and ended up breaking my install. Fortunately I was able to roll back to an earlier intact install. Does any one have a working version?

Is it possible to have FAC functionality in Black Shark missions? I have two FAC's set up with frequencies, as 30 FM (channel 1 on the R828 radio) and 32 FM ( channel 2 on the R828 radio). I hear the FAC report the target destroyed, using a condition trigger, but there are no radio commands to contact the FAC as in A10 missions, to check in etc. I think I am missing some steps to get the FAC radio items to show up? Cheers, David

I recently started doing my own Black Shark missions again. I had trouble with comms at my FARP and until I had all the units standardised from one country, I had no comms. For a fully working FARP I had the following; One country only i.e I began with UK and USA equipment mixed, which produced no comms, after standardising to just a single country all was ok. 1. FARP fuel depo 2. APC M1025 HMMWV 3. Transport M818 4. Tanker M978 HEMTT 5. FARP ammo storage 6. FARP Tent 7. FARP command post 8. and the Heliport of course. Looks pretty darned impressive now and everything works!:D

Hi, would this be a mod? Have you a link to it? This has always been a little bugbear. The Shkval is obviously based on the original with "tube" type curved screen, so its forgivable to retain the historic credibility of the sim. I have quite a large single monitor, so its not a great problem. But any increase in definition is nice. I recently came back to DCS World and am very impressed overall. The Black Shark us perhaps the most challenging and complete battlefield sim there is? Certainly the actual flying is very rewarding. Apart from the A10c, which still suffers from the old trees issue, that being, trees showing as while hot in the IR optics? This makes searching for targets in a Forrest a bit of a nightmare!:music_whistling: Cheers.

I know there is no such thing as a silly question, but how is the updated version updated? There is no way, I can see, to tell if we have the final version or the one we originally purchased?

I have the Route/off/Descent switch on a hat on my X55. It permits the three way function by having Route on (up press) Off (either up or down press) Descent (down press). I understand what you mean about the three way though. However, I have no switches on the X55 that stay in either an up (on) or down (off) position, like on the actual aircraft, so its a moot point for me. The bottom line is that I get the three way functionality from a hat working as a two way.:)

Thanks, I had no idea you could set the ADF frequencies in the mission editor. Its been a few years since I did any missions for the Black Shark!:smilewink: The 8 presets originally only had the northern Russian bases pre tuned, so it would be nice to have the southern bases. That's before getting to Nevada!:) Cheers.

Thanks very much guys. I forgot about the ground crew changing the HMD for you! What a superb study sim this is! I have not flown it since 1.2 and this evolution is just superb. :smartass: Now does any one know how I can set the ADF frequencies on the AR-22? The presets are all coded in, but I think you can amend the code somewhere in the sim? I found this in the manual, but it does not state where the codes are located. "While in real life the frequencies for each ADF channel are set by ground personnel, you can edit these in the ADF configuration files outside the simulation." I would just like to know what channel pre-sets are for which airport. I think you can also set the ADF pointer to point to your wing man, but since he's on the data link that's probably not needed. Thanks again.

The Night Vision System is marked as "Disabled". Is there a mod some where that enables a night vision goggle system for the Black Shark? Just re learning how to fly this superb study sim..... This and the A10C were my first DCS sims and boy have they stood the test of time... Regards

Having just completed #10 and a superb campaign experience, I was both puzzled and relieved that the Intel brief was a little incorrect! The brief stated this; "We’ve also been told to expect them to ‘play dirty’, meaning that they’ll change the rules on kill removal and make it so that we end up being outnumbered by Red Air fighters that we kill but which are then allowed to ‘regenerate’ shortly afterwards. We will really need to keep our eyes out of the cockpit!" Well thankfully this regeneration did not occur. If it had I doubt I would have had the time to complete the mission, let alone return with only the loss of one flight member. I have a video of the final mission complete with TACVIEW, on my You Tube Channel, but will not post a link here in case it spoils peoples fun. Now for the F15 Red Flag!:) I think overall Red Flag in the A10 achieves what the real Red Flag sets out to do, namely improves your ability to fly and fight in the Hog. Thank you ED!

Many thanks. My editing problem was not incrementing the "RF-A10C-5.miz", and onwards.... There being four number increments to each block, using the mission counter. I have no idea why the log became so scrambled? Thanks again.
-
EDIT. This is hopeless! Every time I edit the file and load the campaign, it puts me back to mission #4? I have tried editing this for the last hour and same result each time. The log is re written every time DCS starts up??? This campaign is not playable for me. Unless I re install and try again from the start? logbook.lua

Yes I am sure you will do fine. No editing out errors. Although I am tempted, since that's got to be a mistake? Even if the guy had strayed into enemy lines or been overrun, they would have shot him first.....unless the mission designer made him invulnerable or invisible? However, it just goes to show that from a black and white grainy image, you really can't tell who is the enemy. If we are told to kill people at a location, we do it and reap the rewards or consequences later. We just don't expect JATAC's to order a strike on their own cranium! As for hot starts, have you tried editing the mission at the start. You may alter the ordinance load, perhaps you can alter the starting position? Cheers.
-
I have experienced similar things. I believe its a limitation if the JATAC logic. If we don't kill the primary designated target first he gets upset. It doesn't affect the mission result. I always take out AAA and SAM first, using the optics, then go for the primary target, ignoring any moaning from JATAC about "wrong targets". The great thing about these missions is that no two re runs play the same. Sometimes the air defences are taken out by our f18's, sometimes not. It makes the missions re playable, adding the element of surprise:) When you do #6, watch out for the JATAC, Moonbeam. He is positioned amid the enemy armoured units. I used a 97 on them and killed Moonbeam! That caused a "fratricide" call and I lost all combat scores. Either it was a one off, or the JATAC is actually placed there on purpose? Must have been heavily camoflaged, or the enemy armour would have got him first! :music_whistling: The only way I found out was to watch it back on TACVIEW. It would be nice if we could edit the missions, I would use a Preditor there instead. Anyway, its all superb and the feeling if immersion is there throughout. Cheers.
