Nice video. At 900 M/S, the missile, fired by the Tunguska, is very fast. We don't have much chance against these. Here is a short description;- The system uses the same 9M311 (NATO: SA-19/SA-N-11) missile family as the naval version, which can engage targets at a range of 2.4 to 8 km and to an altitude of 3.5 km, The Tunguska-M1 uses the improved 9M311-M1 missile with an increased range of 10 km. The missile has two stages, a large booster stage with four folding fins, which boosts the missile to a velocity of 900 m/s, before falling away. The second stage has four fixed fins, and four steerable control surfaces. The complete missile is around 2.56 meters long with a weight of 57 kg. Guidance is performed by the gunner who uses the 8× magnification (8 degree field of view) 1A29 stabilized sight of the Tunguska to track the target and the missile (using a flare or pulsed beacon) is automatically tracked by the optics. The deviation of the missile is compared with the tracked target and used to calculate guidance commands, the tracking radar being used to send radio commands to the missile, making Tunguska a semi automatic with command line of sight (SACLOS) system. The gunner is initially cued towards the target by the systems search radar. Once the missile is steered to within 5 m of the target, an active laser or radio fuse (9M311-M1) is triggered. The warhead weighs about 9 kg, and is a continuous rod system, consisting of 600 mm long 6 to 9 mm diameter rods with a flower-like cross section. The cross section ensures the rods break into fragments weighing 2–3 grams. The rods form a complete ring about 5 m from the missile. Outside the rods is a fragmentation layer of steel cubes weighing 2–3 grams. The 9K22 is reported to have a kill probability of 0.6 with missiles (9M311). When I look at the A10, after a near miss, no wonder its like a cullinder:)

I saw this interview, also can't find a link? You have the most accurate flight and battlefield simulator ever compiled in A10c. Here is a link to Wags' You Tube;- http://www.youtube.com/user/wagmatt With the demise of MS with their "Flight" offering. We have these clever guys at ED to carry our "Simulation" world into the next generation. Make no mistake, the A10c and Black Shark are accurate simulations, down to almost every system on the respective aircraft. Then there are the weapons systems..................:D:D Satisfying to learn, rewarding to fly. Cheers.

OutOnTheOp, I have flown F4 for many hours, previous to this superb sim! F4 has some sort of an override flight control built in. I dont think its at all realistic. I too could refuel an F16 in F4 ...easy!;) The system in A10 is far more realistic! Very difficult, sat staring at our PC monitors. Here is an extract and a link. The boom is a fantastic piece of kit. Not simple at all. "The COUPLED mode of the flight control system is designed to partially alleviate nozzle loads and allow the boom to follow receiver movements. " http://airrefuelingarchive.wordpress.com/2009/05/11/kc-10-boom-on-a-kc-135/ I am calmer doing a straffing run on a SAM than when trying to re fuel the Hog!!:)

Ensure EGI is in Nav mode. (Nav on CDU) Alignment is complete. All 4 SAS chanels are enabled. In the key options menu, I map the EAC on to key "5", and EAC off to key "6", you can map it to your Warthog or other HOTAS if you wish. It can spring back to off sometimes if I click it with the mouse? Cheers.:)

3 problems... 9m119, Radio, and Betty
Xxx replied to Fulcrumkiller31's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Hi, I just posted this question over in the A10 section. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=83599 The T80's are now an awesome weapon and with the Svir Lazer Beam rider, they are a threat like any other SAM. (IMHO) So if you have no SEAD available, break their beam, go low, creap into your WEZ and let em have a Vikhr. Trouble is, is his reaction time faster than yours and is the Svir as fast as a Vikhr?:D Great stuff eh:) -
Yes, quite so. Was just thinking again ( dangerous that;) ), if your CO gives you a vital target to take out and also gives you choice of bombs, would I choose Iron Dumb bombs? Answer, well really, if the profile is lo-lo-lo, then no. ( Exception being High Draggers) If its anything with "high" in the middle, well no again. I know my IAM or LGB will correct itself for any wind. ( Burp, even after too much festive turkey:huh:) There again if we have run out of IAM's or LGB's then bring on the Norden:D
-
Thanks Eddie. Yes thats the missile. It takes out the AI Apaches and Cobras with ease! From a mission design point of view the T80's are a balance of power changer:) These need to be treated to a dose of SEAD now! Cheers.:D
-
Anyone noticed the T80's using what appear to be either a Strella or 9m11, type of SAM? Not sure what they have or where they are firing it from. looks like its from the main gun?? I have a column of T80's in my "Finest Hour" and "Dangerous Escalation" missions, that are equipped with a large supply of SAMs? I wondered why they were so darned difficult to attack!;) Anyone know what these missiles are? Will try for a screenshot, but they are damn fast! :D
-
Interesting read. I missed this when it was first posted. Can't help thinking about the Norden Bombsight our guys used in the Flying Forts and Superforts in WW2, they needed to correct for wind then:). Then I thought, why would we need to input these wind calculations? If you are dropping bombs from higher altitude, our A10c has JDAMs and LGBs.;) The CBU 105/103 has as (WCMD) GPS tail kit bolted on so we just target it to the SPI. Aint progress a wonderful thing :D.

You dont need to re install A10! But the mission you saved after using the "prepare mission" feature in the Mission Editor will need to be either edited in the manner described in the link, or scrapped. Cheers.
-
Like I said in my post above. The people poking fun at him are likely the people who look at the level of complexity in this simulation and give up.:music_whistling: There is only one female fighter pilot in the RAF ( that I know of) and one in the RCAF ( again that I know of), maybe he's met one of them:smilewink: Lucky Guy!;)
-
I had this very issue some time ago whilst creating missions. If you go into Mission Editor and select "Flight", "Prepare Mission", this causes the aircraft to load weps differently. There is a solution ( apart from scrapping the mission and starting again) but you need to edit the mission in an editor like Notepad++. Sorry, I forgot the editing proceedure. I think you delete the weapons section in the mission. It was discussed on the forum about 6 months ago, but cant remember the thread:mad:, my old memory again! I will post it if I find it, but I never mess with the prepare mission feature. EDIT This is one such thread, I am sure there are others;- http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=78799&highlight=prepare+mission Assuming this is the problem of course:) Cheers. :)

If in easy comms mode, usually, from the radio menu button(#) the Ground Crew will show in the menu. From there you just go through the menu options. The manual (page 652) states being at a Ramp, but you can re arm on the runway! You may also need to "upload" any weps re-load from the Update menu (DTS Upload),....Warrior has some good guides. But thats another subject. Ask away if you need help with this. On the subject of anyone poking fun at you flying this sim, not many can successfully fly and fight this aircraft in Sim mode. It takes dedication, skill and practice, so heed them not. This is not a FPS. ;)

Now downloadable from the main site;- http://files.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/141723/ Edit. The mission "Finest Hour" is also downloadable from the main site.;- http://files.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/141729/ This is a more intense "Dangerous Escalation". More threats, but just about winnable:music_whistling: I was trying to create several cataclysmic effects when/if the base gets captured. v1.1.1.1 does alter some of the pyrotechnics! Not as violent as earlier versions.;) Under development...I have further modded Finest Hour, with a little scenario at the end, where Custer ( base commander) escapes capture from the Spetznaz. A little trigger that sends him off in his Hummer, to a waiting Chinook. The Chinook takes off when/if he reaches it and attempts to fly to safety. I am still testing this one! I dont know if anyone would appreciate my embellishments? There is a limit to how much one can put into a single mission. I have seen a CTD when I am using the (cheat) repair function at the base? This may be due to all the bombing and shooting going on? :music_whistling: Or it could be I am developing this one too far? If you incur a lot of damage its tempting to switch off after landing and do the ( cheat) repair. As this is unrealistic, I mean, engine replacement/both wings/tail........ Maybe the CTD is a way of preventing any cheating?:D ;)

Sorry Peter, when you look through NVG's for long periods, the Brain will "fill in" the blank areas. You end up with a complete field of view. You do not see what is depicted in the screen shots. There are no round images or oval ones, with black "blind spot" masking effects. Thats only in old WW2 naval films........... A quote from the referenced article;- "The interesting thing about the blind spot isn’t so much what we don’t see as what we do. The fact that there’s no visual information there doesn’t lead the brain to leave a blank in your visual field; instead, it paints in whatever background is likely to be there. If the blind spot falls on a dragonfly resting on a sandy beach, your brain doesn’t blot it out with a dark smudge; it fills it in with sand. " REF. http://discovermagazine.com/1993/jun/thevisionthingma227 Happy Christmas to all. ;)

Hey guys, have you noticed in this latest patch the action of the CBU-97 is very accurate? When the chute is detached, the rocket motors causes the weapon to ascend while it disgorges the IR Skeets! The animation is excellent:thumbup: In fact just as advertised. http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/dumb/cbu-97.htm So after setting ( or using default 1800 feet) the HOF, the weapon will always dump the chute and spin out the skeets at the same altitude, so the IR proximity sensor can achieve a "lock". It has to be the same altitude or they would not find a target! Each CBU-97 had 10 BLU/8B's , each of these has 4 "Skeets"with the FZU-39B proximity sensor! ;)

EtherealN, thanks for that. Was not aware Fraps ran on a separate core, for our DCS. I know it annoys me greatly in FSX:doh: Spikenet sys. specs in my sig.

I think DarkEagle's point about practice is valid! Remember we are trying to fly this helicopter just using one physical sense, that of sight! We have no perception of true flight, as our balance is firmly planted in our backside, which is parked in a comfy computer chair.( Unless you are lucky enough to own a full motion platform!) http://www.flightemotion.com/ Please, Santa can I have one for Xmas?:D
-
a) 60 b) 41 c) 40 e) 39 For myself, the biggest test of "frame rate" is the perceived "smoothness", ie, the effect the movement in the sim has upon the human eye. We are not supposed to see anything faster than about 25 fps. We do notice frame rate variations (stutters). Even with figures like the above, I see "some" stutters with large terrain loads and vehicles are firing? Again, for me its sthe way the sim can deal with this "load" which I look for.;) PS Fraps will slow my machine down...., its great for recording tracks but always system hungry.

These Single Player missions also work well with the latest patch, v1.1.1.1. You may have to "adjust" the weapons load out in the mission planner first. If you want to follow the script and begin with an Air to Air loadout and some LGB's ( thats the top most selection now in the weps loadout page). Also, you now start from a hardened aircraft shelter. (You dont get rain down your neck;)) Then after downing the Hinds land to re-arm for CAS (Defend your airbase) The Hinds seem to be even more deadly with the new patch. Just try flying toward them, once inside their WEZ they will engage you! That would make them the first shooters and you can have a clear conscience to prosecute the attackers!:music_whistling: (Obvious hint) You have to down one before the "trigger" for the airbase attack will begin. The patch also seems to run this smoother than before, although when everything gets going you have a lively little war going on in your back yard, testing your GPU, not to mention your airmanship:music_whistling:. Cheers and a Happy Yuletide to all.:D

Thanks Guys. After more 30 mm rounds ( glad I'm not paying for them!) I think its best to just select the Gun Cross with range. It doesn't obscure much and does the job. Talking of doing the job, the CBU 97/105 as implemented in A10, is an absolute honey! The 108/B submunitions are animated superbly. They eject the chute and deploy exactly like this ;- It just doesn't get more real, what a sim we have here:D
-
Thanks for that. I'll try it.

Does the A10's CCIP Gun reticle (RKT as well) always obscure the SPI Diamond and the Target Designation Cue (TDC), when you fly the reticle over the cue's? Amazed that I have only just noticed this. Whist targetting BMP's, I loose tally on the target when the TDC gets obscured by the Gun reticle. Anyone else find this, I guess its a limitation of the monitor?, or is my eyesight not what it was?:( On my monitor, the BMP's are just a dot, the tracer from the 30 mm is the main cue as to where it is. Then its down to the "Titanium" bathtub to do its job...:music_whistling:...Woe betide if I miss with the GAU-8!

The skill demonstrated is very great! I think only a lot of practice is the answer. Would be great if there was a voice over, Wags instructor style, during the manouvers. If you watch, the pilot is using a lot of left boot for much of the time. The loops and rolls are special. My rotors usually collide, which is probably due to incorrect collective movement during inputs....:( Shows what you may achieve with this ship if you know the techniques. Yes, good point re the weights. As we are usually at a high weight with a combat load. Also there is the crosswind factor! Add to that some nut is trying to kill you with SAM/AAA and you got a heck of a sim!:joystick:
