Gave it a quick shot this morn. Now, I'm not Top Gun Tom or anything, just your average joe. So, for me it was hard. I'm sure I'll get it but it will take time. I took your advice and held Moe, Larry And Curly back till I could clear some Sams but there's the rub. I couldn't get close enough to get a lock. I think that means actually going over the hill, doesn't it? I'd pop up and have a whole world of hurt coming at me long before I could get a shot off. And if I was anywhere near the top of the ridge, flares a blazin and all, I just never got down befvore it was too late. But, I aint quittin! I'm jumpin in there again right now. Maybe this time I'll tell the boys to hit some air defence targets at the same time. And hit the rejoin button before they are all crispy critters.:megalol:

Using Gun in Hog Hunt Missions.

I finally found the answer in another thread. Aparently the fix is to reset the target alt (which is 5000ft at target in Hog Hunt, obviously wrong as it is sea level.)to DTS. page data down, alt. flashes change to dts with select rocker. All on UFC of course. Did this but unfortunately as has been happening with Hog Hunt more often than not, game stopped working before I got to guns. Meaning I started out using up all my mavs, the CBUs then would go to guns. Just didn't get that far. -

The pipper dissapears for me before I get to the target. Also the range is way off before it dissapears. I did notice that at takeoff, the alt is in the negative 200+ range. Where am I, the Dead Sea? Is this what is affecting my gunsite?

Interestingly, I had packed this campaign in because of initial bugs that caused wingmen to get hung up at taxi and losing my hud ladder and so on. Finishing the first campaign and well into the second, I decided to give it another go. But, this time I used the auto start. After a good 15 minutes I was still sitting there waiting for the pitot, nwsteering, seat arm to happen when I took over and requested taxi. I followed the dotted line past the transport, made the turn on the dotted line and watched all my wingmen follow. As this airfield is huge I slowly made my way to takeoff and made sure Mo. Larry and Curly stayed with me. Takeoff was normal and the long trip to the rescue event followed without any video corruption. My thinking here is that there is so much going on at this airfield that if you hurry up the process you get corruption. Just a thought but well. who knows. Unfortunately, after a long flight (I did use the cntrl z keys a lot.)I did what I have learned to do with this game which is anchor the Three Stooges (is that mean?) and scout the area first, taking out the AAA. Then the fast mover bad guys arrived and it was game over for us. I got the attack bogies order out an one of my guys knocked down one bogey. So, back to the drawing board. Then again, I haven't even experienced CSAR not doing its job so that is yet to come.:cry:

Ok. How does a fella find the lights for this type of start? A little head mounted flashlight would be nice. I kind of groped around and found the battery and interior spot lamps dial with the help of the tool tips but without it may have been impossible.

I've missed this. How do you change out your wingmans' loadout? And I just finished my second mission, Devil's Cross, landing safely, parking, shutting down only to watch those other three dummies land and pile into each other and die. Who signed up the three stooges? -
Still haven't figured out how to get those cool lighting strips to light. Somebody told me online last night about the toggle for nosewheel light beside the antiskid. Thanks for that, somebody.:)

There's an aweful lot of these bad boys to even get near to. Are there a finite number of missles the enemey can fire at you or do they just respawn? I won't even keep on trying if that's the case. But I'd love to complete this one.

Hate to put your mind in the gutter, Bloomstomb but, the lowly Logi Extreme 3D stick I bought for under a hundred is working just fine for me. And it has throttle and twist for rudder. Just sayin. -
THANKYOU ANDY!! Buy the man a beer! I was using the backslash key which brings up the commands that, I guess are only good for easy comms. Using the Hotas Mic, or in my case, Num+or_LAlt., actually shows the commands with title above. IE; VHF AM. And, low and behold, they can hear me. Thanks again for the input, folks. I'd be lost without yas.

Speaking of going guns. Whats the best way to go after helos or aircraft? The floating pipper doesn't seem to be the trick. And a tracer or two sure would help to point the way.

Sorry SH. Easy comms is what I meant to say, not radio assists. And, at first I did not hit the input putton but saw it there and hit it and tried to call again to no avail. As for switching to FM. It says its supposed to be 140 am.

Decided to try the campaign again without radio assist turned on and still cant even get thru to the tower for startup. I dutifully went thru startup with radios set as per startup and changed freq to 140 for Vaz. I looked for some other sort of 'on' switch but found nothing. Repeated called out for startup but still nothing. What am I missing?

OK. Strongharm is probably gonna want to spank me for this one but, as I am still a kid (WAY metaphorically) at this game I'll tell you what seemed to work for me. I had CCIP invalid when trying to drop a dumb bomb in CCIP and switched off the TGP and Laser. Then I just followed the line down on the target and when the circle was there, did the manual release. Worked great for cluster bombs.

Chat Mode Colour Wondering if there is any way to change the received chat colour? Dark Blue at present and I miss a lot of what is being typed. I need it to stick out more. Preferably white.

Dummy's Fix Me bein in that catagory, here's what I worked out. With my lowly Logi Extreme stick I first mapped direct trim control to the the stick by assigning button 11. I hold this down and am able to roughly trim the aircraft> and I mean roughly! Looking for a lighter touch I was just now able to assign the hat up, down left and right with RCNTR modifier and now have a much more workable trim. Hurray for me!:pilotfly:

Yes. Sadly, I have now found that out. I have been looking at the online games and there doesn't seem to be a lot happening with 95% needing passwords. But, I'll keep looking. Thanks again.

DOH! Well, As you can see I am one of your SLOWER students. And, after three weeks in the game, I have been able to complete the first two easy missions and can run thru the startup, get permission to fly and fly in the campaign. Last time up I had very little happening on the hud so I definately have to work on that. Just hope your mission packs can help. Thanks, Doug.
