Yup, I think you have to do that, since VHF/AM is the only band you can set for AI air groups. Either that, or have a dedicated channel for AFAC, but other flights will not be heard while tuned into the AFAC channel. It might be interesting to have all package flights set a new channel when entering a combat area as part of the "fence in" check and this could be where you have everyone tune into the AFAC's freq. I didn't make any changes in the priority settings in my test mission. To be honest, I'm not sure how custom priority logic is implement now and I think it has changed since earlier versions and may not even be functional according to what I'm seeing in my tests now. Since the default priority is 0, I don't think it does anything, unless there is another action with a higher priority value. If everything is set to 0, the actions are just performed in their listed order, which is fine for the purposes of our AFAC actions. Exactly what happens when you change the priority value is a little unclear to me based on my tests in the current version. Will have to clarify with the devs.

Nate, in the release version of 1.1.0.8, A-10C is equipped with ELPRS and will transmit data. That's true for ground units, whose freq. can only be set in the Advanced Actions panel. An Air Group's frequency can be set in the standard Air Group Properties panel. Default freq. for AI air groups is 124 MHz. If you want the AI flight to stay on that freq. for the duration of the mission, you don't need to do anything in the Advanced Actions panel. However, if you want the air group to switch to another freq. in the mission, you can use the Set Frequency command action to set the desired freq. But make sure to set a freq. in the VHF/AM radio band (116-151 MHz). That's probably the reason you can't bring up the AFAC in your mission. Not sure why it only works in the VHF/AM radio band, but perhaps because the programmers reserved UHF for player flight (default 251 MHz) and VHF/FM for comms with ground units. Yes, the order of actions in the actions list (calling them tasks is confusing, because a Task is a kind of action, as is Enroute Task, Command and Option) determines the order in which the AI performs them. I.e. the AI goes down the action list and performs the actions in order. If one can't be performed, it moves to the next in the list. You can force-prioritize the actions using the Priority setting. This way an action at the bottom of the list can be set to the highest execution priority and will be performed (or at least evaluated for execution) first.

Here is a simple and dirty example of what I think might work for your scenario. In my test, three of the five targets appeared and the AFAC called out all three. I think the trick is to use Enroute Task FAC orders instead of Task FAC orders. Using Enroute Tasks, the AI actively searches for targets and assigns what it can find. AFAC-test.miz

Problem with GAU-8/A and Rockets tutorial 1.1.0.8?

Glad to help. And there's a reason the ANG wanted a trainer for the A-10C. ;) -
Problem with GAU-8/A and Rockets tutorial 1.1.0.8?
EvilBivol-1 replied to Gremlin's topic in Mission and Campaigns
From what I can see, the problem is that you initially turn off the IFFCC (presumably by left-clicking the switch) instead of setting it to TEST mode (middle position, right-click). Once the IFFCC is off, it kicks off the EAC and resets the steerpoint names, which then don't match what is expected by the "instructor" based on what was programmed into the mission. This can actually be fixed by doing a DTS Nav Data update on the CDU, but obviously that isn't covered in the lesson. Also, I see you never lifting off the runway and running right into the grass for a successful explosion, but that's another matter entirely. :) -
Problem with GAU-8/A and Rockets tutorial 1.1.0.8?
EvilBivol-1 replied to Gremlin's topic in Mission and Campaigns
That does appear to be the updated mission. I just flew it again and it worked on my end. To save a track, you can run the mission from the mission editor. You will then have a debriefing screen when you exit the mission, where you'll have an option to save the track. -

To check your game version, see what is the latest ReadMe version in your main game directory and also check the Credits in the Mission Editor (under the Misc. tab on the top tool bar). -
Problem with GAU-8/A and Rockets tutorial 1.1.0.8?
EvilBivol-1 replied to Gremlin's topic in Mission and Campaigns
Could you attach a track of your flight, so we can take a look? The updated missions had been tested and found to play through correctly, but it's possible something was missed or perhaps something going wrong on your end. To make sure you are in fact flying the updated mission and not the outdated ones that came default with 1.1.0.8, what are the exact names of the waypoints you see on the HUD when you cycle through them? -

Problem with GAU-8/A and Rockets tutorial 1.1.0.8?

For version 1.1.0.8, the updated training missions need to be uploaded from here and unpacked into the \\Training\en folder: http://files.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/59550/ -
Yes, you have to download each file individually by clicking on one of the FTP or HTTP links for each file and saving it in a directory of your choice. However, I'm trying to test the site right now and there may be login issues at the moment. If anyone else is reading this on the forum, a test of the login and download links would be appreciated.

You have to download all 4 files - setup.exe, setup-1.bin, setup-2.bin, setup-3.bin. They all have to go into the same folder on your hard drive. Once you download all 4 files, double-click on setup.exe to begin installation. For each file, you can choose any of the FTP or HTTP links to begin the download. If you have a bittorrent client, you can download the entire thing using the single torrent link at the very bottom of the downloads page.

Errors in v1.1.0.8 training missions
EvilBivol-1 replied to derelor's topic in Mission and Campaigns
Could you try running the linked Start-up lesson? I made no changes except saving the mission again in hopes that it locks the options settings, which are loaded in the mission itself. https://rapidshare.com/files/1595193634/A-10C-Training-Start-Up.miz -
The primary reason training munitions are not used in the training missions is that we have not yet developed a good way of tracking their impact locations. However, this is something we still wish to include.

Errors in v1.1.0.8 training missions
EvilBivol-1 replied to derelor's topic in Mission and Campaigns
Thanks for the tests, derelor. However, flying in the release version of 1.1.0.8, I'm not able to confirm your results regarding labels in Start-Up and the playability of Guns and Rockets. Both work as intended on my end. Would be great if we had a few more players report their findings. -

We've prepared updated versions of the training missions for the patched version 1.1.0.8. Besides fixing the broken missions, some minor improvements and adjustments were made to all training missions. You can download the complete new archive here: http://files.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/59550/ Simply unpack the archive into your .../Training/en folder. You may want to back-up the original just in case. Hope these work well for you. Feedback welcome. Thanks,

Yes, we'll have fixes for these ASAP. Landing mission has been fixed already. Sorry for the inconvenience.

What is the last instruction you receieve? To assist you better, perhaps you could provide a track of your flight? -
Modern Russian spelling in all caps: Original title in "old" Russian: *OT area is in chit-chat. ;)

To further your defense, there was originally instruction on accessing this information, but the system still had some bugs at release, so it was removed at the time. We will try to add it in the next patch.
