As already suggested, it may be helpful to pause the sim to give yourself enough time to carefully read through the instructions. In addition, I would recommend flying the training missions in windowed mode, so that you can keep the flight manual open in another window and use it to reference some of the things being discussed in training. There are some points in the missions (such as the AOA indexer description), where the instructor describes things before you actually use them, because there is not enough time for detailed descriptions when it's time to use the instrument, such as when you are focused on your final approach. For these kinds of situations, it may be good to have the manual handy to reference drawings of symbology and explanations. Also, you may find some of the material linked here helpful, in particular the training videos toward the bottom: http://en.wiki.eagle.ru/wiki/DCS:_A10C_Training_Supplements

You are correct. Working on surround sound now.

I am not sure if this is the problem in your case, but to be safe it's better if the option is disabled. When enabled, it matches the cockpit swithes to what you have set on the HOTAS, so if you set, for example EAC switch off on the HOTAS (I know you probably didn't), it will turn it off in the cockpit at mission start. To avoid this situation and always start with default cockpit switch states, you should turn OFF "sync cockpit controls" option.

If you are experiencing a nose-down pitching action, it sounds like you may have another controller assigned to your pitch axis. Take a careful look through the Axis Commands in Input Options and make sure each controller is only assigned to what it should be responsible for (i.e. no rudder mapped for pitch up/down).
-
Perhaps your cockpit switches are being set differently than default at mission start, because you have the "Sync cockpit controls" option checked in Options/Misc?

Another warning for no politics. Please limit your posts on the subject to factual news items with links to the source and that's it.

Is there any good source on startup?
EvilBivol-1 replied to bloomstomb's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Check the Training Supplements Wiki page for additional resources (including the check list mentioned above, but many others as well). http://en.wiki.eagle.ru/wiki/DCS:_A10C_Training_Supplements -
There are a number of different radio menu implementations that have been considered over the years, including a mouse clickable version like you describe that I had also suggested at some point. However, the need to take your hand off the stick is a considerable disadvantage. Another approach that I would submit for consideration is the use of the keyboard arrows on the keyboard or the POV hat on the stick to cycle through the menu items. In this system, once the radio menu is open, you would press the down arrow/POV hat down until the desired option is chosen, then hit left or right arrow/POV left/right to open a submenu and then hit the mic switch again to transmit the selected message and simultaneously close the radio menu. When the radio menu is not in use, the hat would function as whatever it's normally mapped to. At least at first thought, this seems to me like a convenient and quick way to navigate the radio menu. Opinions?

Hi all, The forum is not the ideal place to host educational content for the sim, because threads are constantly disappearing or require a ton of stickies. ED has a Wiki site available and this would be a much better place to host an organized set of resources for new pilots. We've prepared an initial set using some of the many guides/tutorials/docs that have been created by the community. Please feel free to expand on this list, but also try to maintain clarity and organization in the process. If you would like your content added to the page, but are unable to edit the Wiki on your own, please send a PM and we'll try to help. http://en.wiki.eagle.ru/wiki/DCS:_A10C_Training_Supplements

It's legit.

So long as it's for product-related purposes, you're more than welcome to use the File Exchange to host mission files, including ones modified from the original release. http://files.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/

We would like to provide a printed manual for sale, but it will depend on costs of printing. Currently investigating the issue.

How many more weeks until A10-C DVD is released?
EvilBivol-1 replied to Ramstein's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Current plans are for a summer release with some variability between specific language versions. -
Just a quick correction regarding the form of copy protection used in DCS: A-10C. This has been updated since Black Shark and now uses what's called "AAA" (add activation automatically) technology. This automatically generates a new activation 31 days after the last (final) one is used, so the user never runs completely out of activations. Also, A-10C is sold with 10 activations and 10 deactivations. For more details, please see the Install guide in the game's Doc folder. This post is intended to clarify the issue in the review. Please do not derail the topic with a CP discussion. Start a new thread if you wish.

Moved as a sub-forum of A-10C general discussion.

I'm not sure what you mean specifically, but LOS obstructions have always been modeled to a greater or lesser extent, in general becoming more complex and inclusive with each product. In A-10C, ground AI now feature elements of target detection variability. For example, put a MANPAD unit under an overcast sky and watch him do nothing in response to an enemy aircraft flying overhead above the cloud layer.

A-10C Familiarization Training Mission - typos
EvilBivol-1 replied to derelor's topic in Mission and Campaigns
Thanks derelor. If you're going to go through other missions and notice more typing erros, it would be easier for future reference if you could keep them posted in a single thread. -

FC2 - Problem with training videos
EvilBivol-1 replied to BattleAxes Skinner's topic in Bugs and Problems
JSF, you are referring to training videos. These are video recordings of the actual training missions. As such, of course you can't take control of the plane or pause the video using the Pause/Break key. These are just lines that were originally part of the training missions that were recorded as videos. -
You can use the TAD display to set a markpoint at the bearing and range from your current position given by ATC.
-
I think you misheard or misunderstood. The instructor says the typical pattern altitudes will be between 2000 - 3000 ft. During the lesson, he asks you to descend to 2500 ft.

Training Mission Problems after the patch
EvilBivol-1 replied to sobe's topic in Mission and Campaigns
There are not supposed to be problems. Is there a particular mission you're having a problem with or all of them? Clean isntall of the patch version? Any mods?
