Oh! Is than new? Thanks for the pointer.

The BS3 seems to have replaced the BS2's monocular sight reticle with what looks like a NVG display that has no symbology on it. In the BS2 the HMS could be used to slew the SHKVAL into the area of the target but this new sensor has no symbology and is completely useless in daylight. Have I missed something or has this ability been lost on this "upgrade"?

reported The most annoying controls bug ever in 2.8
Specter replied to Hotdognz's topic in Controller & Assignment Bugs - General
I also have this issue but I have done some diagnosis. Once I join an MP server any aircraft I am in (not the AH-64) and if I select the controller assignment screen it defaults to the aircraft I am in. Once I have been in the AH-64 it then doesn't matter what aircraft I jump into, the controller assignment screen is stuck in the AH-64! It is as if the AH-64 hijacks that screen. I have run a full repair (the long one) and that has not resolved the issue. I have also tried it jumping from various SP instant action scenarios and as soon as I do anything with the AH-64 the control assignment screen is locked to the AH-64 regardless of what I jump in after it. It appears the only thing that un-sticks the control assignment screen after the AH-64 is a DCS restart. This has the potential to be an excessively annoying bug! -
Maybe what I am seeing is the shadow from the static aircraft, that would but shouldn't be cast on the sea surface, bleeding through onto the deck. It would fit in with some of my other observations and with what you are seeing in the P-51 above.
-
In VR I now have some strange behavour with shadows appearing in cockpit. On the CVN deck thte shadow of the statics follow me around on the inside of the canopy. Also when airborne you can see your own shadow, that is being projected onto the ground, on the cockpit floor. This picture show the shadow of the statics that were following me around!

There is a lot of talk about the British Spey powered Phantom on this thread but what has not been mentioned, unless I have missed it, is the Brits had 2 distinctly different Spey powered models of Phantom. The FG1 (aka F4K) did not have a battery so could not be operated unsupported, It also only had a mechanical Nav Computer so no INS (or INAS as it was called) thereby relying on a second Gyro backup attitude system. It also didn’t have a long range Comms Radio system but it did have a hydraulic wingfold. It’s extendable nose leg had been disabled by the time I got my hands on it in the RAF but the AOA traffic lights on the nose door still worked. The FGR2 (aka F4M) did have a battery so could operate unsupported in a limited fashion. It also had INAS and a HF radio for long range comms. Like the FG1 it had BLC flaps and slats but it did not have a slatted stab and it only had manual wing fold. This model had a standard Nose leg and no AOA traffic lights. It also didn't have the catapult bridle hooks on the underside unlike the FG1 that did. I cannot comment of the F4J(UK) as I never worked on it.

I think I might be one of the 64GB people Mav was referring to. Attached is a screen grab of my resource monitor just before DCS stopped responding. My specs are in the sig. Similar missions on PG map has about 34GB used.
-
Not entirely accurate. It was actually 23 Sqn that deployed to the Falklands with FGR2s. That then left UK AD one Sqn short so in 1984 74 Sqn reformed, after 13 years of disbandment with the newly purchased 2nd hand F4Js. Of note 74 Sqn got rid of their F4Js as soon as enough surplus FGR2s were available after other Sqns converted to Tornado F3.

OpenXR Guide - Deprecated - This time for real (▀̿Ĺ̯▀̿ ̿)
Specter replied to nikoel's topic in Virtual Reality
Because over the years of using DCS/SRS/VoiceAttack/Teamspeak etc, etc all at the same time the collective wisdom of this forum has suggested less issues with them all running as Admin. Indeed when Teamspeak loses focus whilst playing DCS, if it is not run as Admin it won't recognise any key strokes for PTT. That is why. -

Well, everything except WMR is running with Elevated privileges. If you can tell me how to run WMR as admin you are a better man than Google! -

I know this might already be mentioned somewhere in the preceding 60 pages but despite following the instructions in the 1st post in this thread I am unable to make this work. DCS starts, I get the "shattering triangles" within the HMD. It then does it a second time I then get a few white circles rotating around each other then a blank HMD. I can tell from the DCS "window" that head tracking is working but the HMD is still black. Only thing not done yet is update Nvidia driver as the one I currently use gives me best results with WMR4SVR. Could the Nvidia driver be the cause of my lack of success? -
I only found an error when I ran Memtest86 from a bootable USB. Good luck.

After 10 years working on the real aircraft I can tell you virtually no two were the same. Throughout all of the software upgrades the airframes retained the original build standard as the mechanical systems were not changed so you might have 2 aircraft at the same SRP but quite different mechanical standards. There is a reason each aircraft had its own set of electrical wiring diagrams in the maintenance documentation (WDMS)! This gives HB/TG an endless range of possibilities for aircraft standard to emulate. At the end if the day, we are not going to see all Typhoon capabilities modelled and so if we get one that can fire AAMs and drop LGBs and aim via a TGP and see some sort of Link 16 data then that'll be good enough. Whatever we end up with it will only be a loose facsimile of the real aircraft.

fixed internally Engine no.2 does not spool up and shuts down
Specter replied to cgjimeneza's topic in Bugs and Problems
I tried to supply a track file but it is 28.6 MB. Why do you keep asking for then then limit the upload size to 5MB? This problem does not occur, for me anyway, in single player, only on MP servers. I have a track file if you provide a suitable way to upload it. -

I also have this issue in MP post the hotfix. I found that once engine stagnates at 52% if you hold Ignition Override on that engine until the NG% turns green the engine starts. Definitely not like this this morning pre hotfix! -
DCS: Eurofighter Mini-Update - The New Office
Specter replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: Eurofighter
What I did notice in the render is stowage for both seat pan and canopy safety pins. I was lead to believe, although willing to be corrected, that only the RAF used both pins and the other nations used only the Safe/Arm handle and the canopy pin. -

Specter replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: Eurofighter
I do know that. However, any nation with Tornado also had the ordinance for Tr 1 Typhoon if they had the will to use them. My involvement in this thread started when it was implied that Tr1 did not do A/G. As someone involved in the RL Tr1 A/G clearance I just tried to correct that assertion. What HB give us in game is for them to decide, I'm fairly sure it will only approximate RL as is the case with most if not all modules. Either way, I'm out of this conversation now. -

Specter replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: Eurofighter
I can only talk from my own experience, which was RAF. There were only minor differences between the nations aircraft and the correct software load would allow any of them to do A/G. Biggest differences were in SHM and DASS systems, neither of which affected weapons delivery -
