  1. gotcha, thanks.
  2. I know, right? I got the rift last year and I use it every now and then, but resolution/SDE makes it hard to enjoy it and want to play again. I really think if I didn't have a resolution problem I'd live inside the cockpit. do you have any difficulty reading anything? I mean, I really want to buy it but I'm afraid of doing it then realizing it's like 50% better but some stuff are still unreadable
  3. hey Rift S owners, how is it compared to the og Rift? specially screen resolution / screen door effect, how clearly can you read stuff, DDIs, AMPCD, etc? is it worth upgrading?
  4. so this was completely ignored. still hoping though
  5. so this was never looked into
  6. so this was never really addressed and the issue persists. I suppose adding a tag saying that the track file is missing really doesn't help, since a track file was added later but that tag can't be removed, so devs will always overlook this thread. should another thread be made for the same issue then?
  7. Hi, can I use this to export an instrument to a different computer rather than a different monitor? I have a touchscreen laptop that I would like to use
  8. If you set up a modifier for a controller button, such as an xbox gamepad, close the game, disconnect the gamepad, open the game, and change any commands assignment in any device, such as a keyboard shortcut, while having the xbox gamepad disconnected, the next time you open the game with your xbox gamepad connected, the modifier will be gone. this is awful, now I have to have all my controller devices connected when setting up command assignments, otherwise I'll lose all my modifiers from those devices.
  9. this is not a windows problem. my device has the same ID as ever. I just did some troubleshooting and it's definitely a bug. the problem is as follows: 1- I have an xbox one controller connected to the computer, then I open DCS and configure a modifier button on the xbox one controller, then I exit the game. 2- I disconnect my xbox one controller, open DCS and assign any command to any device, such as a keyboard shortcut, while my xbox controller is disconnected. then close DCS 3- When I open DCS again with my xbox controller connected, the modifier button that I set up on step 1 is gone. so DCS can't keep modifiers stored if you change any commands while that modifier's device is disconnected.
  10. hi, I always like to return to base after a mission, but sometimes I'm too far away to return to the base I came from, and I always have trouble finding nearby airfields when I'm somewhere without waypoints. there isn't an easy to use gps at hand, the HSI map doesn't show you much information such as ils frequencies, or tacan, or a simple heading for the runway, or even comm frequencies. I mean, there's a list of tacan frequencies in the database but they don't say anything, where are they from, etc. I know I can just contact an airfield via radio and ask for directions, but I don't know which is which, which is closest, runway heading, and when there are two fields next to each other, I have no idea how to figure out which one I'm talking to. no instrument info either. what I mean is, what if I'm in the middle of nowhere with low visibility and I just wanna land somewhere nearby? am I just too used to civilian flight sim? also, when I'm given instructions via radio such as Fly heading 240 for 45, what does the 45 mean? distance in nautical miles? if so, how do I know how many miles I've flown since that moment? (or at all)
  11. Hi, I set up commands for an xbox one controller in dcs, and then later when I plugged in my hotas, the xbox commands were all scrambled, my modifiers were gone. then I set it up again, and now when I opened the game without my hotas connected, the xbox config is all gone again! what is going on? I don't wanna set it up for the third time just to see it gone again. does one config depend on the other peripherals? this is really frustrating. it took me way more time to set it up than I'm comfortable to admit.
  12. so will we ever get another free map?
  13. Wow, this is pretty much basic vr programming, you don't bump into everything and interact with stuff. Please fix this
  14. I can't believe we still don't have something like this, so here we go: It's pretty much impossible to reach out for the keyboard and find the F buttons assigned to radio communication while in VR. Why not have a vr friendly menu with only 3 or 4 (or even 2?!) commands, easily assignable to say a hat switch? Button 1: Open comms menu/selects highlighted option Button 2: Highlights next option OR Button 1: Open comms menu/selects highlighted option Button 2: Highlights next option Button 3: Highlights previous option OR Button 1: Open/close comms menu Button 2: Highlights next option Button 3: Highlights previous option Button 4: Selects highlighted option. I mean, something terribly simple, just so you can navigate the menu instead of selecting an option from Twelve(!!) shortcuts, or point and clicking. There's already an assignable Command to open/close the menu, and each module has their own radio shortcuts, so just moving up/down and selecting would be incredibly useful. I hope I'm not the only one who thinks this is a must and that this is considered. Cheers

    AMPCD

Probably. Seen some super hornets with BW ampcd
  16. I always overlook the "training" item in the menu, since it's in a different section than the missions. my mistake, thank you
  17. are there any tutorial missions for say the weapons etc? I see the practice missions, can't do much on them since I've just been practicing carrier landing like forever
  18. hi, is it possible to select the a/g weapon in a similar way that you select a/a weapons? or you must select them using the DDI?
  19. hey, I was trying to set up a gamepad profile for quick tests, but found that the 2 trigger buttons are actually handled as only one axis, so I can only assign both buttons to the same function, which sucks. I wanted to assign say the left trigger to extend the speedbrake, and the right trigger to wheel braking. is it possible? cheers
  20. brilliant! thanks guys
  21. hey, It's been a while since I've flown the hornet and I decided to see how it's doing these days, so I launched dcs and it did a long update, but I have no clue what it did. I don't know if it only updated docs world or the hornet to, I don't see a version number for the hornet and I don't know exactly what changed. I tried a quick flight but didn't notice any changes right away. Is there a place where I can see what version of the hornet I have installed? A changelog maybe? Also where can I find what's the current stable and beta version numbers? sorry, those sound like noob questions but I'm just confused as people were talking about major vr changes and other things, and it's been almost half a year that I don't fly the hornet, I thought I would notice major changes right away, but didn't notice a thing. And it's not very obvious how to keep track of early access module updates, so I need some help . cheers
  22. hey, I 3d printed an extensor shaft for my hotas, but I can't find the cable. is it a ps2 extensor? where can I find such a short one?
  23. hey, I'm thinking of buying the thrustmaster rudder pedals as it's cheaper than the saitek/logitech ones, but one thing that worries me is how close together your feet have to be, in other words, how much space between your legs you have, since that's where my joystick is. opinions on this? specially owners
  24. I'm definitely picky about frame rate, specially in VR. even occasional stuttering isn't acceptable, I even bought a nvme to install dcs because my previous ssd was causing some stutter. I'm also very picky about graphic quality, in fact I model and render 3d models for a living. now, quality wise, well, it's VR. I'm definitely not running at potato quality, in fact it's set to the highest possible for my system without performance drops, but this gen of VR headsets can only get so far regarding graphics, beyond that the screen door effect always takes away the extra realism that minor graphic improvements could add. I honestly can barely tell the difference between my current settings and everything maxed out, besides more autogen density, some distance shadows, etc. but I'd say it looks as good as it gets. and regarding your comment of performance being marginal for you, well I've been playing DCS in VR for almost a year since I bought my rift. my performance should be slightly worse than yours on my 1800x / gtx 980ti, but no aspects of graphic quality or performance have ever bothered me, beside the stuttering I mentioned. I have to admit I must be a few updates behind, and if I had to guess I'd say something big must have improved regarding graphic quality in the last updates. so I'll have to update right now and see if I notice any difference regarding quality and performance, then I can tell you something more concrete
