I"m assuming this is a bug because once the probe extends fully then it will retract properly, but if you are extending the probe and try flipping the switch back to retract before it's fully extended, it won't retract, it will just stop. once you flip it to extend again it will continue extending, and once it's done, then you can flip the switch to retract and it will work properly, and now you can flip back and forth and it will change direction instantly as I think it's supposed to. once you retract it completely, this behavior resets and you have to complete extending once so you can retract. it's not a controller config issue because I just configured this properly, and even flipping the virtual switch in the cockpit with the mouse, it will act the same.

ah I see. I have yet to file my detent piece. perhaps by now these guys have adjusted their curves already

Switch Positions - default.lua
fael097 replied to RogueSqdn's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
worked like a charm, thanks! so perhaps you could help me with some other stuff, I assigned the pinky switch forward to external lights as in the OP, but I wanted to assign pinky switch backwards to the same plus landing/taxi light, so a combination of the 2 functions. is it possible? -
Switch Positions - default.lua

ok so I was trying to add a few commands on my own, I copied the name of the launch bar switch from another file, and pasted into a line exactly like the anti skid, which works, like this: { down = gear_commands.LaunchBarSw, up = gear_commands.LaunchBarSw, cockpit_device_id = devices.GEAR_INTERFACE, value_down = 1.0, value_up = 0.0, name = _('Launch Bar Control Switch'), category = {_('Special For Joystick'), _('Mods'), _('Left Vertical Panel')}}, the anti skid works, when I flip the switch off, it turns off, but the launch bar doesn't, i have to flip it off and on every time. why is that? -
that's cuz you spent most of the time in the middle, so that's where you need fine tuning. if you have proper controllers you most likely won't need curves though

I used to fly the fsx accel hornet and then the vrs super hornet all the time, and even though I was able to put the plane to a full stop on the deck, I'd just wing it, no actual idea what I was doing, since I always used ATC. whenever you can, get a separate throttle, it's a hell of a difference

where are these previously published curves you mentioned?

Switch Positions - default.lua
fael097 replied to RogueSqdn's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
my mistake, I was editing the default file for keyboard commands, not the joystick default.lua -
gotcha! thanks
-
btw you sure it's tied to wing fold? I can't test this right now, but I read somewhere that it could be tied to anti-skid instead
-
makes sense! thanks

Hi, I'm using the tm warthog hotas, and the pinky button on the stick is activating NWS HI only when hold, if I release it goes back to regular NWS. is this how it works? I thought it should press for NWS HI, press again for NWS. what's the deal?

any idea why it shows "no command available for this device" under the throttle and the stick? as in the boxes are grayed out, I can only assign keyboard commands, not joystick. -
right now I'm using the pedals from a g29 racing wheel as a make shift solution, but I'll probably buy those saitek pedals or something similar eventually

I tried a few settings and always ended up having stutters, so I moved on and bought a nvme ssd after all. no stutters anymore at all. my vr settings must be about the same as yours, I set them so I never get less than 45 fps. I get a bit of vr sickness if it drops, even so slightly like to 43 or 42fps. the variation must be an issue for me when in vr. on tv I run 4k with about everything maxed except msaa which is 2x i think, not really necessary in 4k but it helps with the shadows I guess, and those trees and ground clutter ranges which I keep around mid bar. steady 60fps with vsync on altough I don't play much on tv these days cheers mate

not much of a cockpit, but here it is so I had made wooden mounts to mount my tm hotas into an office chair, but it ended up too flimsy, wood was heavy, and I mounted it into the steel part of the arm rests, so the sitck was side mounted. it would wobble some times and I'm pretty sure the weight of the throttle+wood was tilting my chair to the left. I also designed poorly the stick mount and it ended up too high, it was like I was holding a wizard scepter. the chair isn't comfortable for flying at all too, so I had to ditch that idea and start again. my living room isn't large, and that's where the computer is so I decided to design (properly) a simple mount that I could fit into the couch so it's more comfortable and won't take too much space. this is what I came up with. in the pics the stick is not centered in the seat, I just misplaced it when taking the pics. it also looks like it's squeezing the seat, but my legs squeeze about the same when I'm sitting, so it fits perfectly when I'm flying. it's a good position for both vr or tv. now I just have to rotate the stick base counter clockwise a bit, and paint the thing black I guess. what you think?

The A-10C drifting (both on runway and in air)
fael097 replied to Fred00's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
I started flying it when it was released, and always noticed what you described. I remember cause I had a real crappy joystick back then, and couldn't take off because it didn't have any axles left to assign rudder control. for me, if there's any wind / loadout asymmetry, the plane will do what you mentioned both on the runway and when airborne. with those conditions, there's never a perfect trim even. it will always roll and pitch just slightly, but noticeably over time. I always assumed that's how it works in the real thing and moved on. guess that's what autopilot is there for, right? -
sounds like a calibration issue
-
it's not always the same mission, any mission I load this happens, but I only have the caucasus map, so it could be the magnetic variation. if it was the wind, it should tilt to the other side when you turn 180º, but it's always the same tilt to the left
-
hey, my waypoint lines on the tad always seems tilted to the left, even when I'm right on top of them, looking straight into the waypoint. what's the deal? I attached a screenshot, even though I'm heading towards the waypoint, seems like I'll cross the line if I keep moving forward, except I never do. is it misaligned or something?
-
if that's the case, then the a-10c module is really accurate, as I have to keep moving my head all the time. yet I don't buy it for a second. no way in hell they would make the hud field of view say 10 degrees (arbitrary number) but you can only see 7 degrees from sitting position, so if you want to see everything that the hud was designed to show, then you must bobble your head all the time or stare into the hud as an elderly person reading the newspaper without glasses. perhaps in the real thing you have to move your head 5cm up or down, left or right sometimes, not 30cm up and down or 40cm forward to see vital information.
-
do real a-10 pilots fly with their heads directly above the joystick? that's the minimum position I can see all the symbols displayed, like this:
-
it might be something like that, but right now the only way to see the whole hud is to move your head directly above the joystick or beyond. it's just too close, doesn't seem very realistic
-
this is really disappointing. I was trying to adjust my position so I could see the whole hud and indeed I had to be sitting on the stick to see it properly, in a way that was difficult to see the side consoles. guess I'll save some money for the hornet and hope it doesn't have the same problem then thanks!
-
hey, I was flying the a10c just now on the rift, and realized I keep moving my head a lot so I can see the hud symbology. If I sit still and center camera position, I can't see the heading indicator or the horizon line on the hud. shouldn't it be smaller? or shouldn't I be closer to the panel? what's wrong, and how do I move my position manually without having to move my head to weird positions, re-center view and moving my head back again to relaxed? here's a screenshot attached
