That is true for pretty much everything in the cockpit, gauges, indicators, labels, displays, you name it.
-
They're all pointing to mag heading according to manual.
-
HUD, ADI, HSI all have heading information (magnetic heading). Additionally: - HSI displays magnetic heading by default or true heading if mode is Cv NAV (provided by INS). - if your INS is down you can switch to SEC mode to still get gyroscopic info (heading, attitude) Table page 81 of the manual (pdf 82) has all the info for HSI modes.

Since your system crashed you might have some info in the Windows Event Viewer. Crashes are usually caused by faulty drivers, too. If you can, reinstall DCS, I don't know if that will change anything but worth a try. Otherwise, your logs will be necessary for ED people to investigate. This post will help: OPEN BETA - How to report a bug (FAQ & Guide) In your case, this part The logs might contain some useful info.

I'm just asking the OP to indicate which pylons he used for his initial problem report. You know, to reproduce and test things, see if it's wing-root pylon related or not, that kind of stuff.
-
If I understand correctly, When you load Rockets + Mk82SE + Mk82, you don't see the Mk82SE. Then, same loadout without Rockets, i.e. Mk82 + Mk82SE, you can see the Mk82SE. The problem here doesn't seem to be the mix of weapons, it seems that adding the rockets makes the SE not visible. Can you specifiy exactly which pylons you're using for both?

Should be 1 2 3 4 5 You might have a conflict with '1', I didn't test it was solved with recent update

They have to be due to the also unrealistic number of A/C in the air. Just like if the entire US fleet is going after those poor guys day after day. Coop missions are less extreme.

Thanks, I appreciate! I'm glad to know I managed to help. This type of sight is new in DCS, it deserves an in-depth study on it's own. I also think this exercise will improve my gyro-sight shooting with older ships :D

It should turn blue at night IIRC, don't know if implemented.

Is there any legal definition of alpha, beta? I'm not talking about people's expectations or understanding, I'm talking about real law. Since you're a lawyer I'd be interested to know about it, thanks!
-
The module was even not officially released... It's a BETA Technically, you shouldn't be a able to file a complain under that act until official release. A lawyer might think otherwise, I'm not one. When I bought it I was fully aware that it was a beta and therefore some stuff wouldn't work. I understand your frustration, but as many other users, you wanted it as soon as possible and afterwards complain it's not finished... If you can get your refund, you can now wait for release and wait for sale to get an even better price. With that delay, all issues should have been sorted out and you 'll be able to enjoy it fully.

Supporting wingman's SARH ?

Oh sorry, we're not talking SARH anymore, nervermind, then yes, surely possible. -

AIM-120 uses datalink and active seeker - different beast. -
Pre-warping the viewport camera images to fisheye ?
PiedDroit replied to maxdiver's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I don't even know if that is possible... Even if it was, to get something that is mappable on a the same surface, you would need to use a crazy FoV (DCS FoV), which would leave you with a very little pixel density in the center and high pixel density on the edge, definitely not what you want. If anything can be done, it has to be done at the rendering level. -
The way I think I'll use them is from medium altitude, just like you would do with an A-10C. The different is the Mirage is much faster, allowing to engage a target with a longer reach than with an A-10C (go fast, drop and turn away). So it will be useful to engage *some* targets the A-10C can't reach, but not all... Again this is not a do-it-all wonder-SEAD aircraft.

Rockets are not a precision weapon, it's more an area weapon relying on number and fragmentation effect to create damage. It makes sense not to harmonize them, this way you can launch them form any distance. With harmonization, range would be limited to 2x the convergence distance, pretty useless with rockets. (I can't think of a single example of harmonized rockets in history)

That makes sense

Did you try that recently? Track replay corrupted very easily. The longer the track, the worse. I had issues even with 1 minute track, so I let you imagine the probability of getting a good replay on an hours long track ;) On a side note, I don't know if this will change any soon. Storing absolute values instead of deltas have some major drawbacks: bandwidth and cheating...

Supporting wingman's SARH ?
PiedDroit replied to Dirty Rotten Flieger's topic in DCS: Flaming Cliffs
A primitive radar would do that yes, but a more modern one would probably use different frequencies (one for each ship) to allow a flight to do multiple shots on distinct targets. -
Yep, in network.cfg

Nice story  makes me want to retry MP.

Little extract from the manual, it seems that we're able (at least for the Air-Ground mode) to select or the quantity limiter for cannon and rockets: Tir limité (limited) ou Tir continu (continuous). TOT = Total, PAR = Partiel. Edit: It appears that this button also controls the number of 530D's to shoot, 2 or 1.

What I posted is a selection of the best stuff, you don't see all the bloopers :D (but this is also by trial and error that we progress). There was another topic opened about snake and piper specifically, here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=158366 I continued posting there because gunnery is only a small part of tactics, so better not posting too much of it here. I guess it's worse than it should due to video resizing.

The most difficult part is to be able to it (1) quickly, not lose time on tracking and (2) not wasting ammo. (1) because the AI will not maneuver too much (which is good for basic training), but a human will try to shake you off.
