  1. From the DCS WW2 update it sounds like this is being actively worked on at the moment. Hoping for some beta release news in the next while. This is definitely the release I'm most looking forward too.
  2. What you've described above would be a full beta. An early access alpha would be covered by 1 plane with incomplete functionality operating in a small 30x30km map. Then alpha updates could be rolled out periodically as they come available for further feedback & testing.
  3. Do a search in the manual for accelerated stall. You can also Google accelerated stall + P51 for more information and probably see some YouTube examples of it actually happening. Due to the laminar wing design the P51 was prone to accelerated stalls if certain limits weren't respected. With our short throw joysticks it takes a while to get a good feel for where these limits are. The Mustang will warn you as you get near them. The DCS Mustang is very different to something like IL2 where you could throw the joystick around the place - here you have to be smoother with the inputs. In page 101 of the manual there's a diagram showing where such stalls occur for various speeds for a P51 with a gross weight of 9,000lbs. If your Dad is flying with more fuel / ordinance so the weight is over 9,000lbs the limits will be lower. Hopefully your Dad won't get discouraged - it'll take practice to get used to it all but the flight model has the seal of approval from the Fighter Collection and the Horsemen who fly the real thing so if he loves the Mustang he has a chance to virtually fly a very close model in DCS.
  4. http://www.ibiblio.org/hyperwar/AAF/AAF-H-DDay/ There would be an air liason officer that would be attached to armour columns. He'd be in direct contact with the tanks and the rolling air cover overhead. Page 11 in the above link describes the setup of link between the air and ground forces.
  5. Almazi said "some will disappear". So maybe certain areas could be flagged as an area where a crater will be temporary while other areas would not. Or could be some other criteria - we'll find out in due course I guess.
  6. Soldiers with healing shovels presumably would clear runways and roads.
  7. If you use Peter P'd mod that corrects the cockpit view all you'll have to do is turn your head with Track IR. No need to crouch or anything. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=96116
  8. No choice as the original offer to backers which was taken up by a number of people has to be honoured. Any change can only apply to non-pledgers.
  9. Yes would think it's better to bite the bullet on it and do it now. Backers aren't going to be affected by in any material way as they'll still get all their DCS level planes. Non-backers will still an iconic bird to try out for completely free which is more than fair. If the product is good they'll buy more. Pledgers should always get more as they're the ones shelling out well in advance without seeing much content up front.
  10. No they're only supposed to deliver what they have said they'll deliver to their backers. They can make any amount of changes along the way that they see fit provided that the backers get what they were promised originally in the pledge rewards section. Once backers get their 3 planes that's RRG's end of the bargain held up. If RRG decide to make non-backers get only 1 free plane then that's between RRG and future customers. Companies can make legitimate pricing changes after a Kickstarter and prior to a launch. Now if they very materially changed the final product you might have a case but still offering a full DCS level freebie (better than ED do currently) and leaving the rest as payware would in no way qualify and most players seem to fully understand this move - it just makes better financial sense in the long run for the base sim.
  11. I think you need to realise where they're at in the stage of development. For example with BOS the dev blogs started back in Dec '12 and we didn't see basically anything for 3 months after that and it was 6 months before we saw a brief clip of a plane flying. The DCS P51 is indicative of what you're going to get with WW2 as everything in WW2 will have to pass the same quality control standards that the P51 did and as such is a perfectly legitimate thing to showcase. Calling it smoke and mirrors is a bit silly.
  12. Relax. He's pledged a fair chunk of money for this. People are entitled to their opinions once expressed decently.
  13. Check if you have the zoom function in axis commands assigned to something incorrect by accident.
  14. Can you show proof that after the introduction of gyro gunsights and calculated harmonisation patterns that pilots still tinkered with convergence settings? I'm sure it happened earlier in the war - I can find plenty of evidence for that but nothing after. Once we move onto an earlier timeframe in the war with fixed gun sights I think having adjustable harmonisation should be there. What would be really nifty would be a GUI that showed the effect of your changes. With CloD people make all sorts of changes and there's no end of confusion about the effects of these changes - I just set all mine to 200 and left it.
  15. Probably been done before but anyway.. Stangs in space.. travelling a mere 1615mph at 196K feet. Taking BnZ to a whole new level.
  16. Right Shift + P will turn on the pilot
  17. $20 gets you one out of P51 or FW-190 in WW2 $30 gets you both the P51 and FW-190 in WW2 $40 gets you the above plus any planes which come with stretch goals getting hit (so maybe 262 if the stretch goal is changed) $65 gets you both in WW2 and immediate access to P51 in DCS World $85 gets you both in WW2 and immediate access to FW-190 in DCS World once beta is released $100 gets you both in WW2 and both in DCS World
  18. You probably need to clear out all the inputs in the controls section. Have the axis commands in the game and leave the rest to the profile. The slider should only be set to the canopy open / close. In the axis commands the throttle can be set there.
  19. If it was me I'd add in a stretch goal at the $150k mark as it's probably achievable the and would protect against people lowering their pledges near the end of the KS. Not sure what realistically can be done for 50k though. A Piper Cub maybe. I guess a map extension would have to be pretty generic at that price.
  20. Here's a good X-52 pro profile: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/?arrFilter_CREATED_USER_NAME=6S.Duke&set_filter=Y&arrFilter_pf%5Bfiletype%5D=70&arrFilter_pf%5Bgameversion%5D=83&arrFilter_pf%5Bfilelang%5D=&arrFilter_pf%5Baircraft%5D= I made a few changes to it to suit myself but it's a nice base to work from.
  21. DCS internal damage model is superior. There's more variety to the systems damage that can occur. CloD is still pretty good and TF will likely improve it further. Both are a considerable step above the likes of ROF.
  22. The problem is convincing all of that market and removing some of the doubts that some sections of that market might have. I think that the community is doing what it can to help. But Ilya is neither helping himself or helping us help him by not directly and regularly interacting with the KS community. It can be forgiven that new content is being worked on and it's taking time to put together. But to not spend just 30 mins a day interacting with backers by answering questions, clarifying things, providing his thoughts on points is just negligent. There's always, always, always 30 mins in a working day. All that being said I'm still backing this with considerably more than I've paid for any game previously as I really want to see it being made. He just needs to buck up a few things which don't take much time out of a day but have a big impact on the perception of the project with the public.
  23. Ilya - thanks for the update. Appreciate it's a super busy time but I really think it would be in your own best interests to set aside 30 mins every day just to answer questions, etc. here and on the KS feed for the remainderof the KS. People expect that level of visibility (on top of everything else! :)). In the absence of additional content which, for me, is understandable given where the project lifecycle is at right now that 30mins makes a big difference to people's perceptions which feeds into pledges. Anyway good luck for the rest of the KS - nearly there!
  24. All are flyable with AFMs. The Spit, 109 and P47 will come free. The P51 and Dora in DCS WW2 come with the $20 (one out of the two) and $30 (both) pledges.
  25. Yo-Yo confirmed a few posts back that nothing has changed with the FM.
