  1. I did also experience some bizarre handling abnormalities ie sensitive pitch, I solved this by adjusting the curves. There's sepperate curves for pitch, bank, and yaw. Iv'e turned off ShakeGain also because it's not very nicely done in the SFM aircrafts. Strong static shake on AOA-over limit. Weta43, trim controls? Mine's also seemingly backwards, hat left/right is pitch trim, up/down is bank. Doesn't change tho.
  2. FFB is supported, and very nicely in the AFM aircrafts. I hope it will be in BS to, ie no centering mechanism unless the real aircraft has it.
  3. That's cool, lock on version of Red bull air race I'm up for the challange when i get back to my lockon gear :)
  4. Not free, but the samples are pretty good ;) http://www.soundrangers.com/sound-categories.cfm?cat_template=sound
  5. You can replicate this in lockon in a Su-27 with iron bombs, just aim well ;) Or KAB-500, managed 8000m/13km
  6. There have been a couple of successful landings without hydraulics, ie DHL Airbus A300 in Baghdad 2003. Also systems for automatic throttle control has not been implented because the risk for complete hydraulics failure has been considered to low. edit, It went well, they did not think it was a complete hydraulics failure. http://www.airliners.net/discussions/general_aviation/read.main/2822680/
  7. Yes most likely, the biggest problem being their advantage in thrust-to-weight ratio. EF Typhoon (without TVC) would probably put up a good fight against those two.
  8. From contactor.cfg, all has do to with force feedback. ShakeGain, controls the strength of vibrations, I have it set to 0 now because its terrible in the SFM aircrafts. There's nicely modelled vibrations in the AFM however (follows the visual vibrations). Force min/max are standard variables for force feedback strength, IAS might be indicated air speed. There's a TrimmerGain also that sets the force for trim, the stick physically move when you trim the aircraft.
  9. ED seems pretty confident about no iglas, R-60 or R-73 ;) Fuse vikhrs + 4 km cannon (Max effective 3000m, right of the interweb..) I guess you could do some mod to allow Ka-50 vs Ka-50 'just for fun'.
  10. Gripen International has released some interesting images: Gripen N Two extra center pylons, adapted to use Kongsberg NSM (New Anti-Ship Missile) More fuel, room for a bigger engine. Maingear moved to the wings: Gripen DK 16x SDB(?), 4x Meteor, 2x IRIS-T Unfortunally Norway is more likely to go for the JSF. http://www.gripen.com/articles/5.b280b110b188749cb8000173.html http://www.n24.se/dynamiskt/verkstadsindustri/did_12666505.asp (swedish)
  11. 30 J29F "Tunnan (Barrel)" where exported to Austria There it is, http://www.airliners.net/open.file/0535546/M/ http://www.airliners.net/open.file/0985186/M/ http://www.airliners.net/open.file/0500933/M/ Despite its chubby looks it broke some speed records 1954/55 http://www.vectorsite.net/avj29.html
  12. I did some more tests, the AIM-120 performs the worst in the above test followed by the R-27ER, R-77 performs similar to the R-73. On the orignal topic, the R-77 comes with the bigest bang, it makes schrapnel out of a Su-27. Could kinetic energy come into play, it arrives at mach 3. Slow down the simulation and watch the G load in missile view. Anyway WAFM will be interresting. test_fire_RG.zip
  13. I did some tests to see the difference between the missiles in LockOn. Target is passing at 700 km/h, both missiles where fired when the target reached the center of the HUD (time ~3.8s) Screenshots taken at the same time 5.080/1 The R-73 accelerates faster and turns faster, in this track the R-73 reaches a maximum of 9.8G, aim-9 max 4.3G. test_fire_aim9_r73.zip
  14. So given the target is right infront of you and not maneuvering they should perform equally ;) Off-boresight capabilities + thrust vectoring + longer range The r-73 does however miss in close range and hard maneuvering, as modelled in LockOn. I wonder how many Gs it can pull?
  15. Great video, revokes my needs of visiting Moscow and St. Petersburg, I might have to wait t'll next MAKS, 2007 :) On a technical note, the video could use some deinterlacing http://www.100fps.com
  16. The Su-25 seems to have a hight idle thrust, SwingKid estimated 23%, 1900 KG in LockOn, don't know if it's accurate. I found an idle thrust number of 660 lb ~ 300 KG for the Su-27.
  17. Good looking trees http://www.speedtree.com WAFM - Advanced flight model for weapons GG - Is WAFM for the Vikhr dropped? (from the initial release)
  18. Accelerating faster than an artillery shell in a dive seems a bit off, however the engines delivers some power at idle, it will slow from 800 to 700 in half the time with the engines off as opposed to idle. OT what's the small surface in the rudder for? it usually goes in the opposite direction when you apply rudder, some source said it had a two-piece rudder for reliability.
  19. Good voiceover, very convincing ;)
  20. Spontenously I also think they should introduce "LockOn 2" with the multirole F-16 and MiG-29. LockOn BS 1.2 should fill peoples demand on A2G for a while, and Tank killers is sort of more of the same. Howover i can see if they wan't to make the most out of their latest A2G commitments. I think anything that leaves the guys in moscow is doomed to be exellent :)
  21. That's normal, strange, but normal. It won't show 100% unless both hyperthreads are fully utilized, if only one hyperthread is used 50% means 100% CPU usage. You can gain a little by turning HT of in some non-parallel applications, but generelly it's not worth it.
  22. Apparently the black box was recovered from United 93, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Airlines_Flight_93 Here's a CVR transcript, link (pot. disturbing)
  23. 2. The autopilot has fiddled with the trim and you can't reset it in the su-25/t. Ither you have to trim it manually or you can use alt+3, let it stabilize and then disengage the autopilot. After I switched to a FFB stick things have gotten more complicated, lockon simulates that the stick centration is moved when you trim the aircraft. The problem is that trimming manually has little effect on the sticks centration and generally makes it worse, alt+3 does not center the stick. So you're left with alt+1/§ which centers it somewhat if you line up the aircraft well. Anyone else experienced this with a FFB stick?
  24. Some footage of the delivery, http://info.teamm.se/Gripen_in_Hungary.wmv The Hungarian MiGs looks nice in the same air superiority theme.
  25. There are more than 40 AI aircrafts, could it be that SFM for AI only concerns the flyable models?
