This is not protected content, but your guess is as good (or bad) as anything because I don't know ;) It would be nice if someone with Vista could try to record sound with FRAPS and see if it works, particually if you have a PCI soundcard.

Does anyone know if you can record sound with FRAPS in Vista? I don't know if it's the onboard soundcard or the way Vista handles sound that is the problem.

Devs/testers: Ka-50 cannon data? (deflection angles)
peterj replied to peterj's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Are there any significant differences between the Shkval in the Ka-50 and the Su-25T, for example viewing angles? -
Scripting it gets pretty close to an exploit tho, you've basically added a new ECM feature with external software. But since it probably can't be proven, it might be better to just let it go so everyone can do it.

No shader problems with full shadows? http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=23479 What version of forceware are you using, and what did you do with NTune?

Looks good. Are those markings temporary?

LockOn unpredicably crashes at 40% (after the first 'block' is loaded). Windows Vista 8800 GTS P5B-VM Is it possible to know what is loaded after the first block? Any ideas?

With the data link changes for NATO and export, ie Link 16 compability. Is this document still a representative description the data link features? The Gripen is fitted with the "Tactical Information Datalink System (TIDLS)", which gives the fighter four high-bandwidth, two-way datalinks with a range of about 500 kilometers (310 miles) and very high resistance to jamming. The datalinks allow the Gripen to engage in combat using another aircraft's sensors or from targeting data provided by other defense systems. Data acquired from remote sources is fused and displayed on the fighter's main MFD. The link is fully operational when the aircraft is on the ground, allowing a pilot on standby to have high situational awareness of the battle environment. One Gripen can provide radar sensing for four of its colleagues, allowing a single fighter to track a target, while the others use the data for a stealthy attack. TIDLS also permits multiple fighters to quickly and accurately lock onto a target's track through triangulation from several radars; or allow one fighter to jam a target while another tracks it; or allow multiple fighters to use different radar frequencies collaboratively to "burn through" jamming transmissions. TIDLS also gives the Gripen transparent access to the SAAB-Ericsson 340B Erieye "mini-AWACs" aircraft, as well as the overall ground command and control system.

Windows Vista: The longest suicide letter...
peterj replied to Cdr.Instigator's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
If you spend that money and intend to play protected content, maybe you should make sure that it's HDCP compliant? :) But yes for those of us that have an older HD-tv, it will be a problem. -

Wouldn't WINFS be like going from caves to space also? ;) - About the content protection, it seems doomed to happen and vista just adds software support for it. It's the same hardware solution used in blueray players etc. Adding that support might come with some bi-effects, but reading that document I can't see any really serious issues, maybe you could point them out? -

Iv'e been running Vista for a while, here's three things i like: Superfetch - Improves responsiveness allot. Applikations you use often are buffered to ram, so for example firefox will start instantly. If the ram is needed this data is just dropped. Aero - 3D accelerated desktop, everything just works better and smoother if you do it in 3D. Allows you to do some nifty things to like tabbing between applikations in a 3D view. If the application happends to be a playing HD-movie, that's what's shown. I only wish you could use Aero with the classic theme, I'm getting used to the new one but I can't say i like it. New file stucture - They've dropped "Documents & Settings", "My Documents" and other stupid directory names. Instead it's \Users\[username]\Documents ..\Pictures ..\Music -
Hungary equipped theirs with AIM-120C-5. Plus Gripen is the platform used to test fire MDBA Meteor ;)

Will LOBS support Widescreen?
peterj replied to Nate--IRL--'s topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
The su-25t is playable and the aspect ratio is correct, but you can't change the viewing angles, which allows you to make better use of your horizontal space. -
Thanks To bad it wasn't vista related, I'm sure nvidia will resolve these issues before Black Shark is released *cough* ..

With full shadows there's external glitches, at other settings there's cockpit glitches. Looking all to the left sometimes reveal glitches, retacting the gear sometimes removes them. What do you say? Full shadows All planar shadows edit, I meant to post this in tech discussion.

Testing LockOn FC install on Vista, problems!
peterj replied to H4rM's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
How does lockon perform in vista? (fps roughly compared to XP) I'm going to install vista now on my new system. It's fun to see what they came up with, secondly i don't want to maintain two os installations or reinstall in a near future unless i have to. (If so, only a small xp installation for benchmark comparison) Hopyfully will drivers improve further and general problems be solved in the following weeks. -
Is there a way to practice formation flight?
peterj replied to GR27's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
There's a tool which allows you to fly in your own track (using multiplayer), i dont remember the name of it, but somone else around probably does. -
Beginning of Polish F-16s duty
peterj replied to VMFA117_Poko's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
It would be interresting to know in what way is it less effective. From what iv'e read C/D versions are quipped with both TIDLS and Link 16 and that the systems can coexist. -

TIDLS for example, "Tactical Information Datalink System (TIDLS)" Four high-bandwidth, two-way datalinks with a range of about 500 kilometers and very high resistance to jamming. The datalinks allow the Gripen to engage in combat using another aircraft's sensors or from targeting data provided by other defense systems. Data acquired from remote sources is fused and displayed on the fighter's main MFD. TIDLS also permits multiple fighters to quickly and accurately lock onto a target's track through triangulation from several radars; or allows one fighter to jam a target while another tracks it; or allows multiple fighters to use different radar frequencies collaboratively to "burn through" jamming transmissions. TIDLS also gives the Gripen transparent access to the SAAB-Ericsson 340B Erieye "mini-AWACs" aircraft, as well as the overall ground command and control system. NATO-version also speaks Link-16, but TIDLS is used when it's possible ie fighter-to-fighter, else the data is downgraded so it can be sent with Link-16.
