Any info on the reason this isn't done? I can see why if you for example want a better solution giving radio ops to different groups, etc, in the game. Will flickering of A-10C hud in external view stop?
-
Lovely, ED! These will be used thoughrougly!

Rule #1 for successfully dropping single dumb bombs for precision impact: use CCIP! CCRP uses another calculation all together for determining when you should drop the bombs, while CCIP essentially shows where your bomb would hit, combined with that and that the margin for error is smaller with CCIP (your velocity component away from the target is a lot smaller) makes for more precise ordnance on target. I only use CCRP for dumb bombs when dropping more than three bombs in ripple and when I have a precise SPI on target (TGP).

I guess that is the problem for me, I'd feel bad about having to fly an old MiG-29 with old avionics for example, hehe. But still, if they're making one, then it would have to happen this way, wouldn't it... -
Yeah, it is terrible how many tests assume things. I mean, you cannot naturally assume the building is not locked inside a big vacuum globe, can you? :P

Hehe, okay, gotta give it to ED for giving everybody some hope, about everything, at least if the hoping guys have enough creativity to interpret what ED say in their favour. :P Anyway, what is the difference between the hornet and the super hornet in terms of modern technology? I fear that whatever be the next aircraft, it might have an older avionics suite than DCSW. I want a digital DSMS! I mean, as an example, had ED made an A-10A module now after A-10C, then people would be pissed about having to use the old ACP. -

Or, at least, you can see who owns the domain here since nothing is responding in the web browser (at least for me). http://www.networksolutions.com/whois-search/f-18c.com -
Additions/features we (the fans) would like to see

Wow, long lists. Though, tailpipe, although it is perfectly fine to desire what you want, be sure to assert that your wishes are true to real life, as ED will probably not make something that is not. I am not sure if the A-10 TAD has the ability to add SAM coverage circles to it. :-/ -
The camera mavs will generally struggle getting a lock during nighttime. Use FLIR mavs instead. The D or G ones as Eddie suggested.
-
Yeah that works even better. Better talk-on at least. :P
-
Mavs are not fully ballistic, since they use their fins to counter bending of trajectory.
-
What he ment was that JTACs give different codes for different players.

I didn't really say the submarine periscope FLIR has the same sensory as any modern day TGPs, how would I know, I just said what my friend said, but you are right in that I have no experience with what you obviously know everything about, sir. But the fact that those periscopes they use on our subs with optics and all claim to be worth around the same as that of an F-16 tells at least me they are military grade equipment, and not some cheap 'civilian stuff'. So whereas the footprint signatures hold true for a stationary FLIR looking at people walking on a pier 100 meters away, it doesn't mean it would be noticable in a TGP equipped in an actual aircraft.
-
Yeah, said jet trails, ment exhaust, sorry. :-)
-
Really? As Rongor, I have never seen the exhaust heat behind helos on the FLIR...
-
I think it was brought up because of that. :-) Anyway, as Rongor says, time spent on implementing something that is realistic, yet does not impact the pilots in any major way, like heat from footsteps, is obviously not worth the effort, but quite the contrary for things that would, like the jet trails. :-)
-
It'll be out in a weeks time anyway according to viper, although with a slightly pessimistic "subject to change". Hey, gotta be positive, maybe it is released tomorrow! :P
-
I have a friend that served on a Norwegian submarine as a sonar operator. He told me that when he used their FLIR sensor embedded in the periscope, he would see the heat from the footsteps after a walking person on the pier, or the heat from the tracks of the tires of a moving truck. Something that could be added that would not be too hard to implement or ground breaking in terms of graphics, would be the fading heat of the tracks after a moving vehicle. They would simply be rendered as decals, like normal tracks are in most games that have vehicles, and it would add to the immersion of FLIR in the game. Greater signature for tarmac, less for dirt, etc.
-
Ahhh, it sure would be nice taking off from the busy flight deck of a nimitz class. ;) If it is a Hornet, which is not unlikely, I'm gonna have a blast just going crazy with aerobatics for the first month before I even do any combat missions. :P

Tune to 124 VHF AM, it is the default DCS monitor channel for allied flights. They're there, and they sometimes give you a headache. :P
