Pre-Purchase NEVADA Test and Training Range
pii replied to KEULE's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
If you buy the map on Steam can it be added to the stand alone version? -
Download the steam version of DCS World.
-
FYI While I wasn't able to add the FC3 key to Steam now I was able to copy the folder to the Steam folder and it worked, I never had to even enter a key! Same for DS2 upgrade but I activated it in the past and it seems to have remember it and didn't require me to enter the key again. I now have ALL modules installed and working in Steam.
-
If you have a nvidia 600 series or better card Shadowplay is awesome and won't hurt your FPS like Fraps will. Edit: Oh I see you have a 680 so your all set and it will record for free. You'll need to download the Gforce Experience to enable ShadowPlay.
-
Cool now all we need is a BS2 upgrade Steam install. I can install it manually and it works but I'd like them all to be easy to install and uninstall from Steam before I commit to it entirely.
-
You can install it manually and then when you launch it from Steam it will activate and work. There is a post someplace here (sorry forget where) and it works great. I had all my modules installed in Steam except FC3 and I have all modules. I used this method to get BS2 upgrade to work from Steam with no problem. I'll see if I can find the thread with how to update it later.
-
So Steam will accept our old FC3 key when it is released? Not that I care since I gain nothing moving it to Steam, matter of fact I've deleted the Steam install. However Steam may be faster at updating. I'm trying to update DCSW to 1.2.7 now and its downloading at Dial up speed.
-
I'm just guessing here but I thinks its basically the same. The original FC3 aircraft have all been given New Flight models and cockpits, I think. To be honest I haven't played it much so I'm not 100% all the planes have been updated but I do know many have if not all now. (which is why they are now releasing it as a full product. It also won't need the FC pre-installed to be able to install fc3. oh and I would also imagine it will be compatible with the Steam version. But like I said I'm just guessing based on the press release you linked and past talk from ED. My question is will current FC3 owner have an upgrade path for discount or free.
-
No he didn't he said "F-15C: DCS Flaming Cliffs" Wishful thinking?
-
And as fas as I can tell there is no reason they couldn't gift them again on steam as stand alone. I know they are not all complete yet thank you But there will be more than 2 planes from that series cconverted sooner or later. Anyways doesn't really matter to me, like I said my stand alone dcsw has everything I've bought and works just fine. I was actually going to make a sym link pointing from my steam install to the dcs stand alone to see what happens :smartass:
-
Where was that stated by someone fromED?
-
No flaming cliffs is the product they own the name and rights to it and as you can see Ed is selling planes without the flaming cliff name as modules. So they can indeed give them away if they wanted. They are decoupling it from fc to get away from ubisofts restrictions. Unless we can get those modules in steam and get bs2 and h1 I won't be moving over as I would lose too much that I have already paid for. I'm a steam fan but I have no issues with my dcsw standalone install so no lose here. In fact if I were to change there would be a lose
-
 you had to buy ds1 to get bs2 which is just an upgrade to make it dcsw compatible. In short we already paid for it twice although we got a break on the second version. Bs1 +bs2 cost more than the game as is. Nothing free here just want to move what we've already bought at 1.5 times the cost.
-
What? It would be no different than releasing the planes alone on Steam. If Ed wants to give those that already bought fc3 the planes seperatly, like they are doing anyway, then its none of ubisofts business. Ubisoft already got theirs when I bought fc3 if Ed wants to gift me modules what business is it of theirs? Certainly if Ed can sell them they can also give them away if they want to.
-
In a way yes. If you own fc3 you get the new AFM and pits for free so why not also give the modules seperatly if your a fc3 owner?
-
They Dont even have to send steam any info. Steam could simply connect to the key server at Ed and check if its valid.

All I can say is :doh::doh::doh: I think your finfoil hat is too tight..:music_whistling:

A-10C Purchased and Downloaded but does not install!
pii replied to skc's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
I don't think that's the site. If you look up more and way ahead of where you are looking I bet you will see them. Hit the master mode until you see "guns" on the Hud and then that circle is your site. There are several but that's a easy one to see. -
You may want to go over to the support forum. ED's ticket system is major f'ed up (that's putting it lightly) and they take FOREVER to respond. Their is a moderator over in the forum though that will help you out and there may be a solution already posted. Try to search function also!
-
Pffffffftttt you call that a crash landing? :music_whistling: If you don't end up in a fire ball its a good landing in my book.

If you get a WH HOTAS the stick defaults to the same functions as the real A-10c you don't even need to set it up. However you can add to it if you use MODIFIERS and could probably put just about anything you would ever want on it with out ever using the Target software. The only time I touch the keyboard is to pause but that's only because I haven't bother to map it. There are 55 buttons on the WH and with modifiers, which you can define in the A-10c configurations, you virtually have 100's. This isn't strictly a WH thing, you could do the same with an x52 or any Joystick. The A-10c configurations is very flexible.

Thinking of buying this but is it really hard to learn?
pii replied to Dudester22's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Hey that's a pretty nice overlay but a A-10c over lay will have virtually every key covered and many will also have shift an Control key combos and right shift+ key combo, Contol+Shift+ window key + key combo and...., will I think you get the picture. The nice thing is you don't have to know the keys as you can actually click the switch in the cockpit once you know the system and where it is as every switch and knob functions. No hotas?? hmmmm Only one thing to do, get a hotas and a new wife! I think they have a Hotas wife bundle deal on Amazon this week!:smilewink: Sometimes you have to let them know who wears the Pilot pants. Oh you'll want a TrackIR also so if you forget the new Wife you can get a TrackIR with the money you save!:pilotfly: -

pii replied to Dudester22's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
If you want to LEARN what it's like to get in and fly a real A-10c then this is the SIM (it's not a game). If you just want to get in a blow stuff up then fly the A-10a in FC3. This SIM will take weeks, months, even years to learn and fly and master. If you like learning about military aircraft then this is one not to pass up. Heck it's THE ONE to get period. Also note you will need a good set of controls to do it right also, so if you're not dedicated you should pass.
