1. For some reason, I'm super-duper excited about the ambient temperature gauge. It's always bugged me (ever since BS1) that there was this nifty, useful gauge that just sat there and did nothing. Yay for being able to monitor the temperature! ...I am far too happy about that...
2. Out of curiosity, has anyone tried enabling HPET and tweaking Win7 correspondingly? I haven't had a chance to play DCS in a couple of weeks, but when I can, I'll be giving this a shot to see if it makes any difference.
3. And everything you say to me takes me one step closer to it, AND I'M ABOUT TO BREAK! =P But seriously, thanks for the info, folks. I thought I had more catching up to do, but it seems the community as a whole isn't privvy to much.
4. So what exactly is EDGE? As a non-Hog pilot, I haven't kept up with Nevada. What exactly is EDGE? My understanding is that it's a new terrain technology, but what exactly does it do for the sim?
5. Thank you so much for the spreadsheet! This is really helpful!
6. Here here! I have no previous experience with LOMAC, but boy oh boy was it faster to learn the Su-25T. Whereas it took me a couple of weeks to get the Shark off the ground (and a couple more to get it back on the ground in one piece), I was doing gun runs and dive-bombing inside of a couple of days in the Frog. As long as I can talk my other half into it, I'll be picking up LOMAC and FC3 on release =)

Crash

Turns out it was a PIBKAC. Rotor tip lights was on the same macro on my stick, and was still set to RALT j. It's supposed to be RCTL RALT j. RALT j has been changed to "jump to selected aircraft", which apparently makes AI take over in SP. Oh well, mystery solved.

Crash

This keeps happening in the shooting range mission. It seems to occur every time I communicate over the radio while I'm still on the ground. Edit: It just happened again when I turned on my rotating beacon.

Crash

And again, except this time, it took off, flew the entire pattern for me, landed perfectly, parked and shut down. When I exited the mission, it crashed then.

Crash

Just finally got my keys configured and headtracking working again. I was starting up the chopper, and after I requested ground power, the game switched to an external view of my chopper, which was suddenly fully powered up and we took off without any control input. Then it crashed. Track attached.
11. Reset the trimmer as soon as you're on the ground. If you're hovering or moving forwards, you'll be moving forward once you're on the ground. Trimmed for hover != trimmed for park
12. Oh. Well, thanks for the update, I guess. Shame, though; it'd really add to the realism aspect...
13. I recently picked up a USB headset for TS3. I have since configured BS2 to play on the speakers with TS3 on the headset. I would love it if DCS could play the cockpit sounds (warning sounds, Betty, etc.) over the headset with the external sounds (rotors, missile launches, damage, etc.) over the speakers. Is this possible?
14. Alright, we're just finishing up our dry run of mission #1. It was kind of a bugger. The enemy choppers lifted off basically as soon as we were airborne. The carpet bombing was cool, but hunting down the trucks was also pretty tough. I think we might switch the mission time to dawn or early morning so that we can get a visual on targets a little better. The carpet bombing WAS cool =)
15. I played for a long time on SP, and I only recently made the jump to MP. The key for me was finding a squadron to join. I joined up with 1VFW, and I've been delighted by the opportunity to fly multiple different missions (most at least 1hr long) with both Sharks and Hogs. Some squadrons keep a server up 24/7, others don't. I've greatly enjoyed the multiplayer, but finding a squadron for me was key.
16. This looks NIFTY! I'm going to get my squadron to fly it with our A-10 buddies soon =) Thanks for all the hard work!
17. I tried changing the coordinates in the mission file itself (via notepad2) for a ramp start Shark, but the sim still puts me right back onto the nearest ramp, so that won't work either =(
18. I know that on 1VFW's server, the ADF has worked for me in the past. I haven't tried Sochi. Dumb question, but all the radios are on?
19. Hey Folks. I'd like to fly the South Ossetia Pirates mission w/a buddy. Is it possible to convert it so that 2 clients can fly instead of just a single player?
20. So they had to land and then get away is what you're saying?
21. JDAMd? As in, hit with a JDAM?
22. +1. I'm amazed at how much more quickly I can scroll around and find things now that I've mastered 6,7,8 =)
23. Yeah, you have to make sure you're not up against any LORAD or fast movers. If there's nothing in the sky and no pesky long-range SAMs around, this puts you out of reach for MANPADs. It also gives you a very nice angle for scanning the terrain. Oh, and I always try to have at least one wingman who can sit a couple klicks behind me or to the side to keep an eye out for any launches. It ain't perfect, but being out of reach of MANPADs and too far for beam-riding ATGMs helps me with survivability big time.
