  1. I actually really like this idea.. put it in the rearm/refuel ui.
  2. Dude, I'm dying over here. It's like Christmas.
  3. It knows this because it knows where it isn't? /meme :D
  4. I think I saw somewhere that they're just matching the bomb's code to whatever your designator is set to right now.
  5. Hey, just to chime in here, I'm by no means knocking the fact that we actually HAVE the TGP in its current form. Happy to have it and cheering for it. I was just curious about those bits of useful functionality I didn't see. You may consider me perpetually happy about having an official DCS F-16, no matter its state. I've been hoping and wishing for one since I first heard about DCS as a simulation product, so just being here, with it going into early access tomorrow, is a dream come true.
  6. I see a ton of "Declare" calls in my future. If AWACS is unavailable, dunno what I'll do.
  7. Will we be able to get slant-range (while firing the laser) and weapons time-to-impact information on the TGP at some point? Also, will we get a north pointer / meter-stick option to measure distance on the ground for gauging ripple-distances on weapons, etc? One other thing I noticed in the video, isn't the laser supposed to fire to measure the slant-range constantly while the weapons-release button is held? *shrug* I could be wrong about that one. I know it's early access and such, I'm just curious what to expect. :) Thanks!
  8. That would be putting the radar cursor into EXP mode, like a magnifying glass on the cursor, and is accomplished with the pinky button IIRC. TMS left is IFF interrogate elsewhere I've flown the Viper.
  9. It is an interesting question. I'm used to seeing the FCR BIT run on the left MFD at startup.
  10. The ramp start vid is on the facebook page now.
  11. TIL. Thanks Panther.
  12. In the cold start procedures, does the Eng Feed dial in the FUEL panel (left console) start in the "Norm" position, or "Off" in a ramp start? If the latter, we need to add a step for turning the fuel pump on prior to JFS Start 2, or we'll probably get a hung start on the engine, right? Sorry, I know this stuff is in-progress, but it stuck out as a "huh?" moment for me.
  13. Ok, since the first-pass of the manual is released, I can see that TMS left while FCR is SOI is something called "Expanded Data"... is that going to be roughly equivalent to an IFF interrogate? I'd love to get some more info on this.

    EGI?

Yeah, me too, which is why I went and checked the cockpit orientation vid.

    EGI?

This is from the cockpit orientation vid. Dial says "INS" not "EGI," so I'm guessing we're getting INS and not EGI.
  16. I kinda... disagree? There's steps that, if you miss them, mean a hot start (advancing over the idle detent too early, for instance) or a hung start (inducing a momentary power drain before the engine RPMs hit 20%, by closing the canopy or turning on the radio if you forgot it, etc.). There's also the myriad ways you can screw up starting and setting up your avionics, from missing the DTE load (where are all my steerpoints and radio presets?!) to failing to turn on the RWR or CMD. Just saying, these are all things I've done.. elsewhere.
  17. I'm just hoping it works like I'm used to it working. FCR as SOI, TMS left to interrogate.
  18. There's a LASR page for the DED that allows you to change both the designator and laser spot tracker (LST) codes. The bombs themselves can't be changed outside of mission planning IRL, unless I'm mistaken.
  19. Read the article series linked on the first page. Mover does a great job of comparing the two aircraft.
  20. I looked at the author the moment I saw "I’ve been lucky enough to fly both the Boeing F/A-18 Hornet and the Lockheed-Martin F-16 Fighting Falcon".. because how many of those can there really be? :) HAD to be Mover.
  21. Yay, an article by Mover! Dude's pretty down to earth. Check out his youtube channel.
  22. I do wish you guys didn't have to deal with that, and could just show it in-progress as you clean things up and make adjustments to systems. It'd probably be really educational about how those systems are simulated "under the hood" so to speak, and I'd love to see it.
  23. Second cup of coffee.. at this rate I'm going to have the shakes so bad I won't be able to fly.
