first time online play. +1 Too right,My finger has hovered over the join button soo many times but just bottled it at the last minute, but tonight I finally took the plunge and with Sleem's great going ugly server and himself at the helm as my guide we took off to "kill stuff" Took a bit of getting used to I must confess(never flown at night before)but gradually got the feel and managed to learn loads o things I would never have done by myself, even managed to bag a few targets but the feeling of "ahh that's what thats for"and"oh always wondered bout that"was better than blowing stuff up. After about an hour, while looking for more targets and doing loads of other things I had just learned all at once, master caution light starts going mental and plane goes a little weird, press master caution off and all seems well  (should'av checked master caution panel) but in my panic I completely forgot  All was going well, bagged another, and then woop, woop, woop, master caution again? switch off again and SILENCE! just the sound of air rushing past, then it kinda dawned, glanced at my fuel reading and yep,you guessed it,nil, nowt, zilch, nothing, quickly realised I probably got tagged when I flew a little too low. Quick, dump remainder of my stores, flaps down a little and prepare for a swim, but whats that in the distance ?copped some runway light's so turn that way,TBH didn't think I had a hope but well...you gotta try,the main runway was completely the wrong way, like, across from left to right but noticed a taxiway going off at an angle,so kept my cool, glided in,gear down at last minute a quick bank to right, speed brake extend and touchdown  Overshot the taxiway by about 5m but hey I was alive and Hawg and I were safe. That's the main thing right? So to sum up,I had a brilliant time in my first online flight and with a little drama thrown in for good measure, what else do you need, suffice to say "I'll be back" :smilewink: Thank's to sleem for the excellent experience. Mick.

continuing tracks? Hi folks,I am sure I read somewhere in the forums about being able to replay a track and take over before it finishes and continue on with the mission, sure it was in a discussion about saving your progress or something along those lines.Am I mistaken or can this be done as a way of a sort of save option,if you get my meaning and if so how can you take back control of your track so it wont finish and you can continue on in your flight? Hope you guy's follow what I am trying to say, thanks. Cheers, Mick. edit:Thanks for reply Ivanwfr,

DCS:A10 and FaceTrackNoIR
3instein replied to noisy_lightning's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hi Boulund, thanks for the reply, this honestly is driving me nuts:cry: I really have tried everything including running as admin, tried all the steps about a dozen times and still nowt.I am using an eye-toy as camera and as it works in other games I just don't understand why not in this one, especially as other folks got it to work quite easily.:noexpression: I just thought there was maybe something I had to enable in game controls or something so that the sim recognizes the device,I honestly dunno! Quote:" What does baffled mean"? = ME! Cheers Mick. -

help! Hi folks, just wondering if anybody can help? After making a three point clip with LED'S,got freetrack working great eg: skull moving around and stuff, downloaded the proper dll. for 64bit win and inserted into the proper place in DCS A-10 folder. Now when I start A-10 nothing happens? Am I supposed to do anything else eg:in the control input section of the sim or anything else for that matter? It works on other games eg: Rise Of Flight so at least I know it works.I am baffled as other folks seem to get it working with A-10 no problem. Please help,I have posted before with no joy. :helpsmilie: Cheers Mick. -

SD card? Cheers Matt.

confused Hey Matt,so you think readyboost + http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820233175 would be worth a shot,as in helping with ma small amount o jitters? Saying that the few stutters I do get aren't a problem really, obviously if they weren't there well.....great,but I am just keeping an eye out for a wee solution here and there.:smilewink: Cheers Mick.

SD card? Thankyou for the fast reply bud,I suppose that answers that,LOL.I hadn't a clue if that would work or not just thinking out loud,It'l just have to stay in my fone then. Cheers again Nate, appreciated.

sd card? Hi folks, after reading Mustang's post it got me thinking,I have an 8GB SD card lying around and was wondering as A-10 is a 7GB download would it be possible to copy my file to it and load from there as maybe a new drive?Don't matter if not,tis a great sim anyway, even then I will try this readyboost thingy and maybe it will help with the few jitters here and there,if ya know what I mean. Phenom II x 4 955be,4GB ram, radeon 5850,win 7 64 bit and of course DCS A-10C. Thanks in advance Mick.

still nowt thanks for all your advice,I had at least been doing everything right it seems, but still nothing when I start the game, freetrack seems to be working great and it is running in background, headtracker folder with prefs and dll. inside bin folder but still no cigar:cry: I think its time I stopped flogging this dead horse and admit defeat.

thankyou very much for the info M8,will certainly give it another go,saying that though I fear this is where I got to last time but It just didn't seem to work? Will keep trying though, sooo close I can taste the 6 dof.cheers Mick. edit:just to be clear,in the headtracker folder there should only be headtracker dll,and headtracker prefs?right?

stumped. Hi guys, first let me say great work from you all regarding this freetrack stuff as I and many others can't afford,or don't want to purchase TIR.Anyway my question is that I managed to make a 3 point clip and got it working quite well with the freetrack software, downloaded the headtracker dll thingy and installed it in the bin folder but that's as far as I can get and obviously it doesn't work for me.Please forgive the lad and I know there is a lot of posts about this but they are a little bit scattered around and tbh after reading them all I'm totally mixed up about what to install where about, then what next.I am confused about api, binaries, dll files and the like,I am for the most part a noob when it comes to this stuff,I do try but usually fall flat on my proverbial. I was chuffed when I made the clip and now I don't know what else to do.Please could some lovely chap instruct me in layman's terms how to get this thing to work,I would be forever in your debt, cheers.:helpsmilie: edit:its win 7 64 bit I am using,ta.

thankyou Just a small thanks to all the team for their work on the 1.0.9 patch, brilliant guys  PS:when is 1.0.10 out? :music_whistling: he he only joking, just thought i'd be first.:smilewink: back to the grind trying to master this great sim.:joystick:

Oh didn't realise this,NOT! What does somebody have to do for a little help then appart from asking on these great forums?Prey tell. edit:As said please don't state the obvious
-
yeah cheers m8 that answered my question?? Obviously if you bothered to read my post you would notice I was asking for a little help.not for you to state the fkn obvious! What would you have me do?play the game from start with no labels and no exp?Yeah I can see how long that would keep me playing!:helpsmilie:

label help Hi guys just been reading this thread and must admit to using labels (only had sim a few weeks)I now want to try with them off but think this would be a little ambitious on my part, just now anyway. I looked at the file where to change the values and know it should be self explanatory but tbh I don't know where to start. It would be great if somebody could help explain how to get say black dots to show up at say 5000m. I made a backup of the file but at a loss as to what to change or not. Any help would be grateful thanks. edit:Please do not state the bloody obvious.cheers

Webcams Cheers as allways guys,Yep this freetrack/noir stuff is a really good idea for folks like myself for one reason or another don't have a lot of spare cash,I managed to get it working with a ps3 eyetoy but wasn't to hot as the camera didn't seem to like the low light levels, currently on the hunt for a cheap webcam with those IR LED'S round the housing as I hope this will sort out my problem as well as getting freetrack working maybe with IR reflectors or LEDS. Anyway looking good so far, thanks for all the info and ideas guys.:)
-
Thanks. Cheers guys, got the buttons mapped out with the modifiers, would have never thought of this tbh so thanks for the idea.I am mucking around with freetrack and noir and hope to get it working asap, had limited success but got the bug now to see it through. Just got to get used to this button layout now, thanks for the inspiration guys.:joystick:

See this is why I can spend hours reading these forums, they are chock full of brilliant ideas for newcomers as they answer all our questions and more, the level of info you find out,not just about this game is second to none,as somebody posted already"your thinking of something and are going to post then while reading the forums somebody beats you to it"As a newcomer to this great game and these forums each day brings new wonders so hats off to all you guys who help us less qualified  PS:Cheers for that list of the modifiers on your joystick Nate as I have the same this looks really interesting, take it you have Track IR though as I use the hat switch for looking around would there be any way you could still do this? :joystick: Great work guys cheers.:)
