  1. Excuse, you may be bad informed about the Malvinas war ("Falkland"). R-73 made a decisive difference: Argentinian pilots force the naval forces to mount giards on decks because their radar nor the harriers patrol could never detect on time argentinian mirages and A4 because they were flying too low. The difference you are talking about, was on the very few air to air combats, not combats really, since the harriers engage argentinian fighters while they were returning to base after bombing missions. And in this "engagements" the argentinian fighters were not carrying A-A missiles because of a simple reason: they hadn´t. So what difference did the english fighter got from the r-73? Sorry: a correction here. I have checked my notes, argentinian fighter had SOME, A FEW aa missiles , don´t remember exactly the name, shariff cames to my mind related to the actor but for sure the name is different. And I have an interesting note here: all the aim9 kill were from a rear aspect when argentinian fighters were returning to base and trying to escape from the harriers. THE ONLY rear head to head kill is from... and argentinian fighter not from an aim9 from the british
  2. This turns the thread into the old discussion: russia vs US? Definitly in no way the sim is "unbalanced". The f15 is no way superior to the s-27 or the mig. There is no weapon that can be considered superior to all of the rest, anf the F15 is far from that. If the eagle fans think they are superior because of their aim-120... well, it seems yuo have been flying against too much IA... The famous aim-120 can easily be beaten usewing the far much superior s-27 great capacity of fuel wich gives him a wide range of maneouvers to defeat the f15 till he will be force to disengage and if you are saying you will be fighting at high altitudes against the SU-27 and that way you will be safe, you are very wroing, any missile of the 27 series well used can perfectly be used to force you to go down, in every sense.. So in the end, it all about the pilot. Nor the F15 rules the sim nor the su-27 or the mig. The sim is not "unbalanced", both sides have their good and bad characteristics
  3. That happened to me: I solved it takeing out the sound hardware acceleration. From the directX properties, move the hardware sound acceleration bar to the left, thus disableing the hardware sound acceleration

  5. Any of The option in the poll don´t fit my requirements. I won´t request features, and also, the option more close to my opinion says "minor issues...", and the issues are not minor to me. I would like one, just one thing: the actual failure in the game to be fixed and improve, nothing more nothing elase than that: teh radar issues (from fighters and ewr statios for example), weapons issues, , etc
  6. I just did soe test, useing some mission I gt from the latest mission pack crimean wars. I definitly can say this tweak gave a lot, far o lot less sttuter. Works for me :)

So, probably is not an fps issue, not directly. may be this is the reason (an Im talking without knowing how the FC render engine works): the planes fade because the FPSs we are saveing with this parameter, actually were being use in redering the planes far away instead of showing us a small version of the plane? Do you see what I mean (I know that Im not explaining it very well) I mean this: we already know that in lomac render engine, things are rendered all the times, despite if those renders are shown on screen or not. In a good engine, the only things that should be rendered should be the things the player see on screen. So, could be that the hole planes you see a little far away, are being rendered, and so there it go the extra FPSs, and if we "cut" FPSs... the engine may be is not rendereing those planes in the far anymore. May be it is that... NOTE TO ED: you could take into account this thread as a thing you could work on it and improve perfomance may be. Interesting... I have never trieds this tweak, tonigh I will

Ok, dta taken from http://www.cinematography.net : Some studies "says" they have proven that the max an eye can detect is a frame rate of 60 FPS (and we are talkinf of very good eyes, those considered privileged ones, while the average eye proved to detect no more than 30/40 fps) It is commonly acepted that it is far no necesary to produce more than 30 FPS to have a video ilusion. The problem here is that any fram below that rage, for example a "lost couple of frames below 20 fps" mixed with good 25 fps, will be detected, and that why people say they can see a difference between 25 and 30, but we have an imposible proof of concept: our TV (works on 24/25 FPS)
  9. I think most uf us must have seen the "difference". In my particular case, my FPS´s values range from 20 to 170 and there is no difference, the only difference appears when fps´s go lower than 20. But yhis is not that "somebody says", it is a FACT, why do you think you TV works on 25,495 FPS (Pal N) or 25 FPS (pal NTSC) ??? An it is completly imposible for you or me to notice any more difference since I tell you, our human brain could not show you the difference because it just "doen´t have the sensors" to do it, it can see a higher frec of 27 fps if my memory doesn´t fail me. High resolution plasma TVs or LCD also work with this frame rate. Don´t get confused with resolution

FPS are just the rates the frames are shown on screen, in fact, for humens is just enough 25 FPS, that is the frame rate our brain can proces images and show us as video (ntsc and pal N are in that range, 24/25 frames per/s) So, may be this setting modifies something else inside lomac?

  12. Yes, there would be a lot , but really a lot of people happy if some of the actual "problems" would be fixed in the BS release. And also it would be a great think for LC since improveing actual things would bring people a sim with all the potential LO can have and more, besides the k50 heli
  13. my saitek cyberg evo gives me this choice from a little soft the drivers has included. I can change the profile with the saitek profiler easily.

  16. Be carefull, IA flies in a much different way humans fly, don´t get used to this way of dogfight. In a different scenario, vs a human enemy useing a fighter like the mirage, you wouldn´t want to be that low, specially because you would fight the mirage turn radius with maneovers like rolls, and you need some altitude to do that.
  17. mmmm I don´t think a maz of that size can be used on a fighter cockpit :) çYour works has value but may be you are re inventing the wheel. The maps are already created, you can find them in the link I pasted above. In fact, those maps has all the tool a pilot uses in real life (compass marks, etc)
  18. All the fancy???.... you don´t need a super computer to have AFM and things like than, you just need to have efficient code. There are other sims (orbiter for example) wich have far more complex calculations than FC, and they have far far lower requirements. I don´t think there is much people thinking like you. For sure there are people waiting for BS, but a BS more efficient than the present FC, and forsure there is a hole much people expecting things to be improved in the actual FC. I just would like to know that ED reads all the post about this topic (optimiceing) and improves sometjhings in BS. I would pay for BS, but a BS that can give me better things than the present FC.
  19. I don´t know if it is correct to name it " a mistake", to catch the enemy from an unexpected angle is what most of us would like to do always, but how many time you can do such thing? You need an awacs to do that and be able to get around the enemy, and beside this, you will only succeed if the enemy has not suceed into scanning you in their radar. in my case, a couple of good assigned keys and I can use the radar very quickly and easily. If you are BVR, you have enough time to scan and start evasive maneouvers, and when you get to clese combat, you still have close combat modes that makes things a lot easier for scanning And you are very right, catching the enemy from an unexpected angle is almost a guaranted kill, but, again, this is an ideal situation that not always is at our hands, no matter how good the pilot is, the other pilots only need some good scanning abilities to detect you and so ruin you plans, and you have no other way that a face to face engagement

  21. Yes, I don´t have backed up test, but this is what I found: The 27s are suposed to be good for intercepting cruise missiles (wich have low flying pattern). Many times I try to get down 1 of them with r27r or er i missed too much lamost useless it to try (with the cruise missile in fron of you, firing range 30 km aprox) Instead of that, I definitly can say that I have amuch higher kill ratio with the EM series. Now Im very curious... I will do a test tonight, and present the results here.

  23. jajajajajaja no no I don´t write with markers ON lock on. I printed the maps, and made then plastified (almost sure this is not the englush word for this), I mean, I coverred the maps with plastic. So I have now a detailed map of cremea area, the caucasus area, an a map of each airfield too. So I can write with a marker on them, and letaer erase what I wrote very easily (in the same way teachers do in this days with their markers on the clipboards at school). Also, I think this is somehow realistic too.

You already have that, look at lockonfile (i think), there is o good work from a pilot, where you have high definition maps of the crimea and caucasus area, and also a high definition map of each airfiel. Print those maps in a4 size, get them plastified and you are done, they look great and you can use a marker to mar targets , etc (since the maps are plastified you can erase your marks very easily) This works great for me.
