  1. In fact, any form of placeable barriers or fences are sorely missed in DCS (and requested many many times) For now we are stuck on using containers or user created content (mods)
  2. In the latest FCR video from Wags, he says the FCR has a 6km max detection range for stationary targets and 8km for moving ones. Did I hear/understand that correctly? I'm a bit surprised that these detection ranges are so "short". (At 6km, will we still be out of maximum reach of those laser rangefinder missiles from BMP's and T-90's for instance?) Anyways, can't wait for this awesome new feature in my already favorite DCS module! (gonna need some more HOCAS buttons though )
  3. An iconic aircraft for sure, but personally I think I'd get bored fairly quickly in it, considering its reconnaissance role.
  4. Most of my DCS time, I fly helo's (well, pretty much 99% the Apache actually ) So, in that respect, I should probably want to choose the second "synthetic" option, but... It's the satellite textures that make this map unique in DCS and (from high altitude) eye wateringly beautiful. So, my vote goes out to option 1: sticking with the satellite textures (even if that means that I'll probably only occasionally use this map for a soothing high altitude free flight session). As I mentioned before though, I just wish we could have both: Keep using current satellite textures and manually optimize occasional (low altitude) texture/terrain anomalies.
  5. Apparently I'm the only one that not fully understands what's asked here. Does option 2 (a more synthetic look) means losing the satellite textures all together, or does it mean that some parts of those satellite textures are manually adjusted to remove specific anomalies?
  6. Maybe some example screenshots would help, to give us an indication on the impact of the proposed poll options. (I also DM'd Specter about this) I expect for this poll there will be a big preference difference between fixed wing (mainly high altitude) and helo players.
  7. Fwiw: Maybe this is a "pancake" thing? Or maybe I don't understand the OP correctly, but when loading the game in VR mode, I never had any such issues. Here's my experience: Double click the DCS VR exe -> see the DCS loading screen popup -> alt-tab to whatever I want to do (usually a quick forum browse) -> when loading is done, alt-tab back to DCS VR and have fun (no mouse issues anywhere)
  8. I assume this is meant as sarcasm.. Because if you feel "poor" while owning an i9-9900k and rtx3090, you don't know what "poor" is.. Anyways, to put this thread in perspective for potential new DCS players: I still enjoy DCS in VR every session on my ~5 year old low end pc. All just a matter of managing your expectations. There really is no need to update your pc each year, as long as you accept you can't run everything on medium or high settings.
  9. "Those people" usually aren't capable of looking any further than their own situation. Just like you, I want my head movement to match the ingame view. The only times I had slight VR "motion sickness" issue, is when my 6dof suddenly went into 3dof . But less mobile people should also be able to fully enjoy DCS in VR, so if this aid helps people, why not. (my father for instance, not that he plays DCS, has has a form of arthritis which doesn't allow him to look over his shoulders. So for people like him, this wish would help). To all the MP balance obsessed people (potentially) reacting to this thread: Let DCS MP balance rest. Real life war/air combat hardly ever is balanced, so in that sense DCS MP is very realistic
  10. Hm.. I have quite good experience with TM support, but as usual, it's probably a "human" thing. Perhaps I was more lucky with the person handling my support ticket. Did you tell them the reason you purchased now, was the fact that TM stated to have improved the slew axis? I agree with you, that as a customer you may expect TM to send you their most up to date hardware version (and not some older version that they still have sitting on their shelves and need to get rid of).
  11. Cheers Don You will be missed
  12. Hey @MAXsenna, Sorry mate, family life held me in its grasp yesterday . I'll try and see today if I can at least prepare the package, so I can drop it off at the post office on Tuesday. Edit: Whoopsie... this was meant to be a DM (picked the wrong notification )
  13. Well, consider it yours then . Please DM me your address and I'll send it over. (Quite a busy week, so I'll take care of it in the weekend)
  14. I have used this for many/most of my missions: https://github.com/akaAgar/radio-message-generator Type text -> Select voice -> generate ogg file Sure, full voice overs is unbeatable, but if you don't have the time to arange all that, this tool is gold. The guy who made this deserves a medal imho. Not required, but additionally, I also used Audacity (freeware) to add some extra different background noise wav files. Heatblur's Tomcat has some very nice sound files that you can use (like ECS sounds). You can check out the results in my "F-15E Raqqa Strike" mission, or "301 Redskins" Apache mini campaign.
  15. I have this stuff laying around for ages. Maybe someone here can still use it? (It'd pain me to just throw it all away) If you're willing to pay for the shipping costs, let me know and I'll send it to you (or pick it up if you're in the neighborhood) I'm located in the south of The Netherlands. I have no idea if this stuff can at all still be made working on modern systems and I imagine if it does, it'll definitely need some love, but maybe it can just be used for parts? iirc, the pedals only have one axis (no toe brakes)
  16. Ah I see Strange indeed then (shouldn't be a showstopper for mission building though)
  17. Not sure if it's a bug. Perhaps DCS AI is just not able to determine when/if a player/client reaches a certain waypoint. But as I mentioned in my previous post, it's super easy to just add another trigger/flag to have the AI stop following you.
  18. Not sure what you're talking about, but here the follow action works just fine... (and it has for as long as I can remember) Made two test missions: AI1 start in orbit, when AI2 is in triggerzone flag=1, AI1 start follow AI2, when AI2 is at WPT2, AI1 stops following (works like a charm) AI1 start in orbit, when player is in triggerzone flag=1, AI1 start follow player (the "LAST WPT" tickbox in the follow action menu, only works for AI-follow-AI)(but you can very simply make the AI stop following you by adding another trigger/flag) AI follow AI test mission.mizAI follow player test mission.miz
  19. What an incredibly awful news to read. I wish you and your family all the strength.

    Issues

If by troubleshooting you mean "trying to find the most optimal performance/gfx quality balance", I can only advise you to just stop looking at the fps counter. I've done my share of settings tinkering myself, trying out new gfx and Nvidia settings with each update and various shader mods, to get those fps numbers up to the level I wanted them to be. At some point I realized half my DCS playtime went into software and hardware tweaking... So I decided to just give up on some eye candy and, from that point on, completely stopped looking at that fps counter and just go fly. I'm sure since time went by, my average fps are now way lower than the 45 where I previously tried to keep em on, but I just accept the occasional stutter. The flying gives me so much more joy than the constant tweaking.
  22. But they can't be killed (and iirc ED has no intention on creating dead crew member models, for reasons I can understand).
  23. So? This is a community mod you are showing... They sometimes get broken after an official DCS update. It ain't ED's responsibility to fix unofficial mods. You can also choose to just not use mods.
  24. Depends a bit on which ATC instructions you mean. If you're talking about Supercarrier ATC instructions: It's all written down in the manual that comes with the module. You can find it in the DCS installation folder (and probably also on internet if you do a Google search) If you're talking about the default (land based) ATC instructions that come with the base game: These are pretty (in some areas even extremely) basic. Being so basic I've personally never had to look em up, but I imagine they are explained in the base game manual (also to be found in the main install folder). For JTAC instructions, which might be the only "complex" part at the moment, there's also plenty of YouTube tutorials. ED shared, that improved ATC is something that has their attention.
  25. Anxious to check this out! (Hopefully this means our Viper is also soon to be transformed from a QF-16 to a proper F-16 )
