  1. Fully agree that we need more unarmed units. Preferably a few civilian men/women models, but if too difficult or against ED's policy, at least a few infantry units without weapons (those could go as civilians through the 'eye' of a FLIR pod). Would be a tremendous way forward to at least have the current static deck as movable AI units. I, and probably many before me, also asked for this in the past. Let's hope your wish does catch the eyes of ED devs
  2. So, I cleaned the ministick pots today as per the detailed instructions (great info!) Unfortunately, ministick outputs are still inconsistent. I use DiView (very easy freeware calibration tool). DiView also allows me to see the ministick raw axis output and for some reason that seems to keep changing and the ministick axis are very jittery. I calibrate, fly around a bit and after some time, I suddenly see my slew cursor starts to move.. When I open DiView again, I see the raw output changed This time though, I can't say I've seen the z-axis influence the ministick axis. Maybe I didn't see that correctly before. What do you think, try a new ministick from @rel4y?
  3. Thanks rudel I'll try the cleaning Seems like a nice little project for my Sunday morning
  4. hehe Each time I try and tell my wife about "this awesome experience I just had in DCS", I just see in her eyes the attention flowing away (even though she's really doing her best to understand my excitement)
  5. Hey @Rudel_chw, You seem to know much about this stuff. Bit of a long shot, but I'm gonna try anyways I have an old Cougar throttle with the USB standalone mod, but for a long time now (I kinda gave up on troubleshooting), the ministick/slew outputs are inconsistent. The ministick X and Y outputs vary depending on the position of the throttle itself (Z-axis). Is that anything you've heard or seen before? As I'm interested in Rel4y's FCC R4 mod, I thought I might as well also order a new ministick from him. If you read my above described issue, what do you think, might this just be a worn original ministick, or is this more serious and shouldn't I bother trying rel4y's replacement ministick?
  6. This! Just buy the one you like most* (you'll end up buying it anyways ) + Use the 2 week trial *As mentioned before, mind you, that the F-15C is not full fidelity (meaning you can't do all the fun clicky clicky in the cockpit and it is far less complex than full fidelity modules)
  7. Updated version 1.3 - 15/10/2023 - Log: Mission 3 AI Apache not in correct parking spot - FIXED Mission 4 "smuggler escaped" Mission failed problem - FIXED* *Apparently, ED changed active runway logics a bit, in their latest OB update, which messed up my mission triggers. I had to increase wind speed a fraction, in order to force AI to use the intended runway.
  8. Did, or does, any of you own the Winwing Viper throttle? Any verdict on which one's better? (or did anyone find a proper comparison review between the two?) At some point, sooner rather then later, I want to replace my Cougar throttle.
  9. Many people though seem to like these threads or not recognize them as "strange", as we seem to be near page 2 Edit: Hurray! I made it go to page 2
  10. New maps (and the SC module) do divide the community. Though with the currently "limited" amount of maps, this effect is minimally noticeable at the moment and/or we simply got used to it. You can't deny, that when 50 more asset packs (or maps for all that matter) are added, that would for sure cause less and less populated servers (even with a steadily growing player base, there will never be enough players to fill all those different servers). The World map (ambitious as it is) ED talks about, will prevent further MP community scatter. Payware flyable aircraft modules don't split up the MP community, as most of the larger online servers allow everyone to fly whatever they want (some obviously choose a specific era like ww2, cold war, etc). But I don't want to derail the OP's wish any further from my end. I shared my opinion and I respect yours @FlankerKiller
  11. Well, in its base, DCS World is.. Trust me mate, I'm well aware that work should be paid. But imho, adding these kind of assets, should be part of DCS's general development plan, instead of creating an unlimited amount of dlc's (I mean, only this "insurgent dlc"? An "improved AI 3D models" dlc? Or why not a dlc for every wish that passes on this forum?). How ED run their development stategy and how they ensure a steady income to provide for all these improvements we're seeing with every update, I do not know. If it would help speed up progress on additional assets (like mentioned by the OP), I'd gladly pay more for flyable modules. But asking money for AI assets that the community uses to create content/ missions from, will scatter the already quite thin MP community.
  12. As much as I'd love to see these units added, in my opinion AI and static units dlc asset packs would be a bad way forward for DCS. Sorry for potentially turning this wish into yet another "asset pack discussion". Everybody can wish whatever he/she wants of course, but as a DCS enthusiast (and wishing for DCS to further improve), I just feel the need to express my personal opinion regarding this wish
  13. This is sooo recognizable Good to hear from you again! That FCC R4 is looking good . Also good to see that you are making it standalone (I have 2 Cougar bases sitting around, but both PCB's seem dodgy). I know it's still early, but what price tag are you aiming for?
  14. In addition to my previous reply (2nd reply in this thread) and after actually reading the recommended VR specs on ED's website for the first time in my life ; For sure, the "Recommended for VR" specs, should say "Minimum for VR". (or "Bare minimum" in fact ) If you build/buy a new "VR pc" based on just a brief "recommendation" text on a products website, without any further investigation, you kinda deserve to be disappointed imo (sorry.. couldn't resist). Then again, why put a "Recommended for VR" text on your website, if it doesn't mean anything? I mean, no sane person would "recommend" those specs to someone new into DCS VR. Again, "Minimum for VR" I can agree with.
  15. Oh really? Hmm.. That's pretty strange considering my system specs are a bit lower than yours (I'm also flying VR btw). Most probably I tuned down on gfx a tad more than you, but it runs good on my pc . Also, I kept the mission quite light, as in; there isn't a lot of heavy AI stuff going on during the mission. Mostly just you and your flight. That said, both the F-15E and Syria map by themselves are pretty heavy. You could try the "easy" setting. That will save about 20 or so non-moving ground units. Though if those few units kill your framerate, something's a bit off I think.
  16. That Draken inverted bomb run is most impessive Though seriously, one can't deny, the Draken for sure is one of the sexiest aircraft ever build
  17. Fwiw: although I'm not sure about the gtx1080, my system is running DCS in VR on a 1080ti and it's still very much enjoyable. I not even have to set all gfx to low. Sure, upgrading would make everything better/nicer, but it's definitely still very well playable in VR on my old system. All just a matter of managing your expectations
  18. Bit late to the party, but as one of the DCS players who "hates" to sit in an empty cockpit, also from me a huge thank you to Razbam for putting so much effort in the pilot body. As the OP already stated; very much appreciated!!
  19. Call me chauvinistic , but my vote:
  20. That's typical for Dutch military airfields. It is a small bell (similar to a railroad crossing bell) to alarm airfield traffic that the runway is in use. On all Dutch mil airfields there's a small road going around the entire field and it's prohibited to drive through when these "crossroad" alarms ring. If you go for aircraft spotting at any RNLAF airbase, you'll get used to it (or at least, you'd better do )
  21. don't forget to mention: the most incredible sound ever produced by any aircraft; both beautiful and terrifying at the same time.
  22. This: and this: Good times
  23. I certainly hope they go for (and let's be honest, it should be) the G Although, I'll probably end up purchasing any variant
