Very simple poll, yes or no answer. Would you like ED to have some control in what is being produced by 3rd Parties? I can see the moral issues with controlling the community, but I can also see the benefits for some of the fanbase as well as the gameplay. Currently, aside from the MiG-21 Bison, we have no Russian aircraft on the horizon. Almost all aircraft are NATO, and 90% of those are American planes. I like the USAF and USN, but all sides of the community need to be represented. We also don't appear to have any WWII planes to match the P-51D, nor do we have a single helicopter on the horizon. I'm not asking for ED to cancel any current projects, but future projects need to balance things out, and all aircraft need a "match" in combat. Having a game composed almost entirely of 4.5th Gen US aircraft isn't what I think DCS World was going for.

How Will Addons be Integrated to MP?
Zakatak replied to Zakatak's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Well I'm hoping that we can download the modules, but we just can't use them unless we put in a purchaseable product key. Or just the model and sounds so we can see other players using 3rd party products in multiplayer. -
How Will Addons be Integrated to MP?
Zakatak replied to Zakatak's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
I think some utility that automatically installs new aircraft and updates, as well as giving us an option to install flyable versions of new aircraft, would be a welcome feature. -
I'm not sure if this has been answered elsewhere, or if it classified information, but I have to ask. How will 3rd Party aircraft (among other things) be implemented into multiplayer? I'm not going to pretend to know how MP works, because I've never played MP on a flight sim. If a 3rd party aircraft is released, will everyone have to download a hotfix/model so they can play with people using this mod? Will addons be integrated into MP at all? And if so, I'm really curious as to how Mig-21 Bisons and F-104G's are going to be a match for the F-22's. Again, I've never played MP, I don't know what the hell I'm talking about. Clarification would be nice, thanks in advance! I was hoping to "get good" with the Mig-21bis and join a VFW when it comes out, but I'm not even sure if it will be implemented. It seems to have official ED support however, so my fingers are crossed!

I too feel like the glide slope is too low, but this is probably because I like to drop 30 degrees of flaps on my Cessna and sideslip down to the runway with all 4 PAPI's on white. :music_whistling:

I am 90% sure that if DCS Fixed-wing Fighter is released, it's going to be the Charlie Hornet. The F-15C is owned by Ubi, and they have the rights for it. BMS has already aced the Falcon and topping it would be a difficult, and would require a dynamic campaign at the least. The Superbug and Harrier are already under development by 3rd parties. The F-15E and F-14 are 2-seaters, and considering that they chose the only 1-seater attack helicopter in history, they have little interest in them. Also, they are both being developed by IRIS. The F-22 is under development, and the F-35 hasn't finished testing and has alot of classified information. Not to mention they would be completely unfair in an MP enviroment. The domain name for a website with F18 in the title was a mystery that was never answered. I would assume that ED would steer 3rd party developers away from any projects they are doing so they don't step in their work. So it will be the F/A-18C most likely, assuming that "US Fixed Wing Fighter" still applies, seeing as it is one of the only choices available.

Currently, you have no labels, or color coded labels that can be read from 100km away. For some players with smaller or blurrier monitors, going no labels can be obscenely difficult because it would be the same as flying with 20/30 vision. At the same time, flying with labels on is ridiculously easy because you know exactly where the enemy is from anywhere. Add a 3rd label option, or "pilot vision". 1st value = shows up as grey tickmark 2nd value = shows up as grey enemy type 3rd value = shows up in green (friendly) or red (enemy) 4th value = label disappears (easily seen) Bombers/Transport = 30, 6, 3, 1 Fighters/Strike = 25, 5, 2, 1 Helicopters = 24, 4, 2, 1 Armor/SAM = 16, 3, 1, 0.5 Soft/Defenses = 15, 3, 1, 0.5 Values are in kilometers. Would this be a good idea?

What DCS needs is variation. Too much ground attack in the past, too much USA in the future. We need alot more multi-role aircraft from alot of different countries, as well as 2-seaters, helicopters, fighters, and even non-fighting aircraft. I would like to see: AC-130H Spooky Panavia Tornado < DIS RITE HERE F/A-18C Hornet MiG-21... actually, nevermind LZ-159... maybe? Zulu Cobra Su-35S Flanker Harrier GR9 RAH-66 Commanche < I can dream, can't I?

We are lacking on helicopters even moreso. The problem is that pretty much every military chopper that isn't the Ka-50 is a 2 seater and requires 2 player to operate.

Virtual Patriots - L-39 External Test In DCS World
Zakatak replied to Blaze's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
I had no idea that somebody was making the L-39! Will definetly be picking this baby up! From the looks of it, you are going for true DCS accuracy. -
The Toad (Su-25T) appreciation thread
Zakatak replied to Nate--IRL--'s topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
I haven't played flight sims in forever, but now that I have a new PC (my first build ever!), I figured I would fly the Toad a bit before jumping back in the A-10C. But I'm having so much fun with it! Does anybody know how to fire off multiple Vikhrs? I've tried switching the salvo modes and ripple quantities, rapidly pressing and holding the fire button, but nothing seems to work. After I launch a Vikhr, it seems I cannot fire another one after until my next pass, unless I turn off and on the Laser Ranger each time. Also, the R-60/73 don't seem to hold a lock even when my enemy is at full throttle, without jammers, and not popping flares. Sup with that? -
LMAO, you're a funny guy! :megalol:

Let's hope the crew survived and this doesn't escalate into anything bigger.

Thank you This is how big men parachute! And here is just a nice view. Haven't flown sims in awhile, having some fun with the Toad before I jump in the Hog. -
ED SIMS SCREENSHOT AND VIDEO THREAD!!!! (NO USER MODS OR COMMENT)
Zakatak replied to rekoal's topic in Screenshots and Videos
Where do DCS World screenshots end up? In A-10C and FC2, they went in the Eagle Dynamics > Game folder. But I don't see a Screenshots directory inside the DCS World folder. :/ -
Didn't know that, thanks for the news!

I was extremely excited for Jet Thunder: Falklands, but after a year without news, it is pretty much confirmed that it's completely dead. But I still hope to play a Harrier sim someday, or at least some VTOL aircraft. The F-35B lacks the documentary to simulate with any fidelity, so I would like to have a Harrier module for DCS World. You can play with it in ARMA II, but ARMA has atrocious aircraft physics and is just a very rough game overall. It doesn't have to be a switchology aircraft like the Ka-50/A-10C/P-51D, so long as it has the same level of fidelity as the FC2 Su-25 (or slightly more) I will be happy with that. If a Harrier module were developed, would you guys prefer to have the AV-8B or the GR9? The AV-8B+ is capable of naval operations, ground attack, and limited aerial combat, anti-ship, CAS, and even SEAD. It would offer no shortage of gameplay options, and the level of replayability would be very high. Who wants it?

I was wondering if we could get the Su-25 from Flaming Cliffs 2 into DCS World as well, so long as we have a CD Key from FC2 to use it. The Toad is fun, but it is as agile as an elephant and I much prefer the original. I just love how antiquated it is and how you need to nose dive like WW2 plane to use your laser guided missiles, look at your instruments to get an idea where you're going, and do all of this without the comfort of an autopilot system. The FC2 version uses an AFM like the Toad and all the "switchology" aircraft, so it should be plenty balanced online. Our choices are either ultra modern machines or the P-51D, something in between would be nice. I'm not a coder, but porting it into the game can't be that hard, can it?

The pinky trigger acts similar to a shift button, and you can set it to latch or unlatch. Unlatched means you have to hold it down like a shift to do second functions, and latched means it will stick. And it won't unlatch even when I hit the "unlatch" option and the box is not longer checkmarked. I've tested this in games, on the desktop, and in the SST software. The unlatch feature only seems to work in the SST. I've been trying to set up my controls for the Su-25T in DCS World, so I can get back into simming and play A-10C eventually. But this issue is getting in the way. It isn't a game breaker, but it is pretty annoying when I hit Fire E to eject my weapon stores, only to eject my pilot.

Next DCS (US) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List
Zakatak replied to diecastbg's topic in DCS Core Wish List
One option that wasn't included with the AV-8B Harrier II, and I wouldn't be opposed to it. It has plenty of documentation, and VTOL would offer some new gameplay mechanics. Newer versions have enhanced radar and AIM-120C compatibility, so aerial combat isn't out of the question. Also, who wants DCS Sputnik? -
Thanks guys, should have this by tomorrow.

The .exe files are only 1-2Mb and require you to have a disk to use. Do you download the .bin files, then use the .exe file to install them?

Razer Artemis HOTAS - Yay or Nay?
Zakatak replied to Zakatak's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I already have a perfectly functioning X52. It can do anything well, it just looks like crap. :P If the Razer Artemis had a boat switch instead of a button on the throttle, a touchscreen MFD that could display things like the A-10C DSMS, and a mode selector, I would totally get it. But if it only works reliably for Mechwarrior Online, I'd rather stick... horrible pun... with this. -
I have A-10C on Steam, but I haven't played it in awhile. Now that I have a new PC, I want to redownload it along with DCS World. Will the CD Key I was given function for the non-Steam version? So to do this I would have to: 1. Download all the DCS World .bin files on Downloads > Software > P-51D 2. Download all the DCS A-10C .bin files on Downloads > Software > A-10C 3. ... Is this right so far? What do I do after that?
