  1. I thought I sent in my information a month ago, but today I noticed I had something in my Drafts folder on Yahoo mail. It's my backer information... Maybe I did send it and just had another one typed out for some reason?
  2. MiG-21 with external tanks and R-3S missiles should be a somewhat fair match for Sabres armed with AIM-9B's for dogfighting matches. In more typical conflicts I imagine it'll be used for airfield defence, intercepting slow planes that can't protect themselves, and taking out ground attack planes. The F-5E and F-4F are modelled in-game and should be a fair match in a dogfight,
  3. But the P-47D-30 is already being made.
  4. If they end up doing a WW2 (no thanks) I hope it is the P-38L.
  5. Hoping for the MLD version for delicious R-73 and R-24 action which should help it stay somewhat relevant in a battlefield full of Hornets and Eagles, though earlier variants would likely be a fair bit easier to design.

    Release??

Okay so the official Leatherneck website says that Ground Controlled Intercept is implemented, but the simulated MiG-21 does not have the Lazur GCI system. So... you don't need dedicated GCI avionics to actually use GCI? What does Lazur do in the first place that makes it worth having then? I guess this means we're getting the Fishbed-N with the ILS systems instead, right?

    Release??

That update, which was almost a week ago, mentions that the module is "pretty much finished" with the exception of QC, core integration, and testing. None of those things are manuals, which tells me the manuals are finished. So, y'know, it would be really appreciated and would shut up everyone who is bored to death for the week. It can't take much longer than add attachment > mig21manual.pdf > submit reply and even if it does take longer, it'll make the wait seem shorter. Oh, and people would be more prepared when the module is released, so that means more people online. This is a win-win-win situation. Just an extremely strong recommendation.
  8. I thought they said the F-4 wasn't on the radar at all due to complexity? Kind of hoping for another third generation light fighter like the F-5E or J-35 or something.
  9. Fat, ugly, clumsy and slow. At least the bazillion weapon combinations are fun.
  10. Selfie with the Georgians have shot me down. I don't know how those crafty Russians even manage this.
  11. The graphical user interface for multiplayer in general looks like it really needs a big update, it looks like something you'd see from 20th century game. No ability to sort or filter the servers, no graphics/controls options, stuff almost all MP games have by now.
  12. Mind taking a picture of the article so we can read it?
  13. I doubt ED is allowed to share this but might as well ask anyway. Is the MiG-21 release being postponed so it can be released with 1.3.0? I imagine this would have some technical benefits.
  14. Awesome, the Gripen is one of my favourite aircraft. Considering you have a bazillion aircraft on the radar, I'm probably going to have to wait a VERY long time for this one.
  15. Probably only to support ED, don't care for aircraft of that era or nationality.
  16. Double the engines does not provide double the survivability. "A two engine plane with one engine out is useless in combat, and the probability of an engine failure was nominally twice as high with two engines as with one" isn't an entirely true statement but it's not entirely wrong either. 18 of the 138 CF-18's owned by Canada have been lost in accidents, some due to engine failures. 5 of the 235 Gripens have been lost in accidents, none due to engine failures. Both countries have fairly similar climates. It's not the cold war, and computer aided design, new construction techniques, and thousands of hours of testing ensure new turbofans are extremely reliable. The Super Hornet isn't as capable as the F-35 or Eurocanards since it's built on a 40 year old airframe, and is going to be needing replacing sooner. The Gripen E is going to be the best bang for our buck, especially taking cost-per-flight-hour into account.
  17. Is performance going to be better on this engine? It looks a lot prettier and my computer has a hard enough time on medium settings as it is. How much will performance be affected?
  18. What a cute jet! I'll take 10 of them. Love the design and idea behind it.
  19. Mach 2 P-51 confirmed.
  20. I personally love how neat, tidy and somewhat minimalist look of the the Eurofighter's cockpit. It's pleasing to look at, all the buttons are well seperated and are easily identifiable by the shape and colors, and I can appreciate the amount of LCD screens as a geek. I do also like not having any buttons on top of the MFD's as well, 20 seems overkill for me and they take up possible screen space. I'd say the F-16 has the nicest canopy since there aren't really any obstructions to be found. The FW-190 is my favorite warbird cockpit, the ergonomic design almost makes it look like a predecessor to modern cockpits. I'm afraid I have to nominate the MiG-23 for the worst, it just looks like a goddamn mess and I'll never appreciate that sickly turquoise color, regardless of whether it can calm the pilot or not. What about you?

    Release??

If there is one thing I'm not looking forward to in the MiG-21 and 23, and it pretty much is the only thing I'm not looking forward to, it's those cockpit designs. The set up just looks like a messy flustercuck, lots of plumbing is visible, the turquoise is hideous, the visibilty is meh, just icky all around. Western cockpits are just so much nicer to look at. Though I do prefer using the metric system which is a bonus for these birds.

    Release??

Wait, the MiG-21 has ZERO countermeasures built in?!

    Release??

Not a fan of the MiG-23 but I'll probably buy it to support Leatherneck. I'm hoping for the MLD version which should be somewhat competitive against the Flaming Cliffs 3 fighters. I believe they can mount R-77's, but that was for testing and enough data might not be available.
  24. I'd much much rather we go with JAS 39 Gripens than the F-35.
  25. Surely they can just move the A skins over to the C version? Shouldn't require much tweaking to do so. We've upgraded our Hornets to the C version standard, so I think it would make more sense that way.
