Please no, this is a flight simulator, not an infantry simulator or the Sims. ED has vastly more important duties to focus on.

What DCS aircraft do you enjoy flying the most?
Zakatak replied to Zakatak's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Oops, I thought I was missing something. Can a mod add in the F-15C? I reported the thread. -
I think the title speaks for itself well enough, and explain why you think so. And just as a bonus question: what upcoming module are you most excited for? I just got back into DCS for the first time in a couple years, and never seriously got into it the first time around, and I've only had time for the Ka-50 thus far, which I love to fly. It's the perfect balance of flying difficulty and system complexion that feels rewarding to learn and understand without being frustrating or feeling like a chore. I like the agility it has, and Vikhr's are a pretty fantastic weapon system. The missions and campaign, especially Deployment, are also fun. I just got the A-10C and I pre-ordered the MiG-21 so we'll see how much I enjoy those. EDIT: forgot F-15, hopefully a mod can fix that

I'd like the AH-1F. The original Cobra is one of the few helicopters that manage to look as sexy as their fixed wing cousins, and the AH-1F is advanced enough to hold its own in the most common DCS World scenarios (generally the 80's to 00's). Belsimtek is doing the AH-1G but I find that lacking for horsepower and weapon options, and there aren't enough Vietnam-era assets to do a proper 1960's mission and probably won't be for several years. I'd at least upgrade it to the Q version for TOW missiles so we can have some options we don't already have with the UH-1H. What a beauty.

They're putting in 16+ hour work days, they've stated it several times and I think Cobra mentioned being awake for 24 hours once. I'm betting on DCS: MiG-21 will finally be released in late June.

You are new and I must school you. The most important lesson one can learn about flight simulation development is units of time. Second < Minute < Hour < Day < Year < Decade < Century < Millenia < Epoch < Era < Eon < Soon™ < Heat Death of the Universe < When It's Done™

About to buy DCS F-15C, Dowload Beta Version?
Zakatak replied to pauldy's topic in F-15C for DCS World
Isn't it because they're adding Advanced Systems Modelling as well? Making it a fully fledged DCS module? -
Next DCS (US) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List
Zakatak replied to diecastbg's topic in DCS Core Wish List
I want the F/A-18C and I'm very glad it's what ED went with developing. In terms of gameplay variety, very few aircraft can bring as much to the table as the Hornet can. No shortage of mission possibilities which is a bonus for replayability. Variety of operators? US Navy, US Marines, Canada, Spain, Australia, Finland, Kuwait, Switzerland. Check. I guess 2 of those are neutral, though most operations in DCS are set in alternate histories anyway. Runway landings? Carrier landings? Both check. BVR missiles? WVR missiles? Anti-ship missiles? Cruise missiles? Anti-radiation missiles? Dumb bombs? Smart bombs? Cluster bombs? Rockets? Guns? Check check check and check. Strike? Interception? Recon? CAS? CAP? SEAD? Air refuelling? Airshows? All check. It's largely unclassified so you can make a very accurate and complete simulation in it, unlike a lot of modern multi-role aircraft. It'll be an instant purchase for me. I also wouldn't mind an F-4E/J/S to act as the MiG-21's nemesis. Or the F-4G Wild Weasel for dedicated SEAD action. The F-5E would be great too since it's basically the Western equivelant of the MiG-21 and also a good match up, if lacking for historical significance. -
Any chance we could get the manual or quick start guide early before it comes out in .pdf form? VEAO did it for the Hawk.

Didn't ARMA 3 Karts start off as an April Fools joke that only got made because so many people actually wanted it to happen? Eagle Dynamics has way too many projects (EDGE, Su-27 PFM, F-18C module, F-15C systems modelling) and bug fixes to attend to for them to have the time for overhauling vehicles and infantry, and I hope they don't because they couldn't possibly beat ARMA 3 in that aspect.
-
Reality isn't quite up to DCS standard yet, and given there has been no patches in 13.7 billion years, I think it's going to stay that way.
-
Private Pilot license should do it in Canada, as long as you aren't using it for commercial purposes! I'd probably bring it to the MAPLE FLAG exercises up in Cold Lake AFB, just to see how poorly I do against trained NATO pilots. :P
-
If you guys want any practice in the MiG-21 before you buy, I suggest giving this a purchase. Hey, cheaper than you're average supercar, if a bit more fuel hungry. It'll get you from A to B in a flash and you can even bring a friend!
-
I've forgotten my Indiegogo account but I'm alright with paying twice. I only got the 30$ package because I didn't want the "extras," so I'll contribute more and buy it again. EDIT: nevermind, got it.
-
My first take off is going to involve 10% fuel, cold weather, nothing on the pylons, no gun ammo, with JATO rockets on maximum reheat. Let's see if I can't get off the ground in 3 seconds. :P
-
Gorgeous! What's the beepy thing (technical term) on the top right panel? RWR/SPO? Any chance one of those manuals is ready in English and ready for, say, downloading? :P
-
So, do we have another time set for the release? Add another 12 hours onto it just to be realistic. I'm going to be extremely impressed if anyone actually manages this against a halfway-competent pilot without being blown out of the sky before WVR even begins.
-
Leatherneck Simulations, by setting dates for new releases that are never met while telling us to just hold on a little bit longer, is trying to make you hit F5 on your keyboard. Obviously, there is a clever hidden message in this. Half Life Th- I mean, DCS: F-5 confirmed! Simulators is saved!

ALL ABOARD THE HYPE PLANE!

What do you believe would be the best opponent for the MiG-21 to go up against if it was brought into DCS World? Which would you pick if you could have a module for one of them made? Options are in the poll but feel free to write one in. Decided not to be too specific with the variants or block numbers just so voters wouldn't be picky.

Decided to Google search it, someone asked this question on this forum awhile ago. Can't quote it due to old MiG-21 forum being locked, but I'll copy and paste what Beczl said. --- For stick: 1. Gun trigger (upward position – SAFE, downward position – ARMED, pulled – FIRE) 2. Trimmer button (pitch only) 3. Autopilot “recovery” mode engage button 4. Autopilot disengage button 5. Radar lock-on button (also piper stabilization when using ASP optical sight) 6. Bomb, rockets, missiles fire button (under visible red cap) 7. Ejection handle 8. Gear brake lever 9. Fuselage (center) fuel tank jettison button EDIT: Explaining Recovery mode. Early manuals used "levelling" instead of "recovering." For throttle: 1. Multi function throttle rotator (TDC up-down and/or ASP pipper size) 2. Radio PTT button 3. Airbrake in/out 4. Throttle fixator 5. Throttle lock / engine stop

xxJohnxx and WoAyumi have somewhat different answers. Can someone confirm if one of them is correct? What is on the throttle would be nice to know as well. I don't think anyone has actually recreated this stick, but pretty much all HOTAS setups over a hundred bucks should do the trick. Looks pretty simple, much more so than the A-10C or Ka-50.

To cope with the stresses of 16 hour work days, Rudel has finally succumbed to the taste of alcohol. :(
-
How much do you want for it?
-
It ground stabilizes just fine for me, I hit the Lock Target button on my HOTAS and it holds its place on the ground even when I have nothing targetted. I haven't really experienced any problems with the Shkval or noticed any of the behavior the OP mentioned. This supposedly only occures in the rain? I've only had BS2 for a week and haven't got more than 10 hours of flying time, so I'm not sure. But maybe it's intentionally modelled that way? I noticed there is a windshield wiper button for the Shkval which is clickable, that might help.
