Sheep

Well said, and describes myself quite well, too. Greetings to Highway  -

Interesting read here. Playing DCS feels like living in an echo chamber to me. Every group is distinctly individual, and (in most communities) at some point, you've seen it all - for various reasons, this is not a singularly deterministic path. That might also be a reason why cooperations between groups are so rare. I've seen multiple such cooperations, but they were mostly one-sided and of limited use to the majority of the people involved, or short-lived. Which is sad, because they established a window out of the echo chambers. Which also brings up the question as to why this self-reinforcing structure exists, but if we knew that we wouldn't be discussing here I guess. At least this thread proves that it exists... Edit Clarification: "Seen it all", in this context, does not refer to the sim. @Blaze: Did you hear from Highway or Raven lately? Cheers :) -
How to roll without changing pitch?

Might be my dorm's firewall then, it says "no data received". Edit: That's likely what's going on. I'm accessing it via the university VPN now, and that works. Thank you for the album!

While I can't add to the discussion itself, you can try a cardboard mockup for size, if you haven't already. It's usually easy to aquire, can be hacked together in a couple of minutes and saves you bolting down and immobilizing the slides (which would be a waste).

Christ on a cracker, I didn't expect this to blow up. Hint: If this was Reddit, I'd be drowning in Karma.

But what updates the updater for the updater on the fact that the updater for the updater has an update to update the updater...? :helpsmilie:

Time for an upgrade or should I wait?

Good job running them cables in your build! -
Holy cow.

That means that, conversely, the ATO is made of many fragments and contains everything that is going on in the Air Force on that day, and no sqadron ever gets the whole ATO? I was under the impression that each Squadron gets one ATO (?), but this makes sense.

Uh, what was that? Nevermind, only the sound of a dozen bubbles popping :book: Realizing that droppnig bombs isn't all shiny is hard. (Don't worry Eddie, you got my bubble a while back already) Another tip: Practice with someone. You'll feel when a practice run was off, but those extra two eyes won't miss anything.

That's in the first post in the first link (post #4) and then in post #103 in said link (this one: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1724366&postcount=103, esp. the second half) Apologies if this sounds arsy, I don't intend to. It's just that there, it's explained much clearer and correcter than I'm able to.

Pretty much. I needed someone to point this out to me, too - how would I know that experiencing, let alone sustaining, negative G makes for a very unhappy head? The only reason I was wondering about it is that it was always so dang hard to figure out where exactly I'm supposed to drop those babies... Seemed off indeed.

Sure you need to dive, that's covered in the links. You line up your target on the side to you, left/right of the canopy bow. Then, roll your HUD to point at it, and pull until you have the target in front of you. Pull hard, ease to not overshoot, and roll wings level. Regarding the wind: Honestly, I'm a bit lazy with this topic. There were so many threads and so many knowledgeable people chimed in that I stopped keeping track of it. Then again, I missed two major versions of DCS, so that's not a big deal to me as everything might or might not have changed twice again already.

Here is what you are looking for: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=117350 This, and the first thread linked, will get you a good understanding. Notes: -Forget about dipping the nose. Just don't do it. -IMHO, I'd not bother with wind corrections -^^is because there's a shitload of confusion going on about it

Holy cow, that's too much for me  I haven't played DCS for a couple of months, but (obviously) still lurk the forums and cranked it up only to see that. Now I can, based on an informed decision, agree with Echo and ask for this to not be fixed. Thanks, that made my day (2241 here). Edit: Anyone tried tanks yet?

The rig can use plenty of memory (8GB minimum, but it's rather cheap so don't save there) and a beefy CPU. If you're looking at an Intel build, which I assume, then a Xeon 1230 v3 worth looking at. It gives you the performance of an i7 without the integrated graphics (yes, server GPU, runs fine at home). I'm not up to date on GPUs, I'll leave that open. Edit: More detailed posts are best written by someone in your (general) area, because prices and availability can vary greatly.

You know when it's time to take a break from DCS A10-C when..

You can sometimes see satellites, which can appear as odd airplanes depending on the orbit and your position. There are dedicated websites which compute sighting parameters for you when you enter an L/L.
