  1. Please assure me that you 'land' your car with the speedbrake (handbrake). Otherwise, that'd be a gross violation of the procedures ;)
  2. Bump. 1:47: "The ultimate mancave" LMAO :)
  4. Sir, I suggest you start by spending some days reading these forums. Then sleep about it for a few, and read some more. While I'm here: I am blown out of the water how much people care about this place. A honest 'Thank you' for that. Sheep
  5. Slightly off topic: Why does the #3 engine have a grill over it, but not the others?
  6. Sounds like a four sigma event. At minimum.
  7. No not necessarily, see my first answer. Edit: If troubleshooting DCS taught me anything, Occam's Razor doesn't apply here. Edit 2: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Occam's_razor For those who don't know.
  8. Lag -> Network issue Low FPS -> system issue Anyways, is it in all of MP or only for certain times (like startup, or tayiing near others)? I heard about highly detailed models of other players' aircrafts bringing FPS down. You can run resmon.exe (enter into start menu) and look at the Disk tab while DCS is running. There are two lines: Data transfer rate and I/Os. See if something maxes out regularly.
  9. Ha! Excellent! I too had a very positive experience with the support, although that's (luckily) already some time back. Stuff like this needs to be said sometimes. Cheers! Supersheep
  10. ...you notice that you have Cockpit shadows in the car and spend the next mile admiring them.
  12. The zoom (numpad-something) already has it...
  13. Since you're openly debating already anyways: Finger pointing, both implicit and explicit, is a factor, too. (I'd go into detail, but that would get me involved in it)
  14. That's the way to go. I keep saying that my above video is only academically-useful and a good training too use the CDU, but hardly something you'd pull off in combat. People don't want to hear that, though.
  15. I don't quite understand what you mean or need that for: 1) depends on the radar, obviously, and not on the RWR. For 2) you already said why that question doesn't make sense.
  16. The one silo on Nike MB, Maine, looks interesting. But does it lack the deep underground structures? Doesn't that kind of defeat the spirit of "My home is my castle"!? And who'd be on the inside, then? Both ways have advantages and disadvantages :)

@Sobek, did you manage to get hold of that source for the hummer lifecycle cost? I almost used that argument in a discussion today, but just in time noticed that I couldn't have backed it up...
  18. Think of it as a Pub street where each Pub has its own, commonly known house rules and denizens (regulars?). That gives each Pub/TS a unique atmosphere and appeal. @tsumikae That seems like one of the few ways to break up where no involved party suffers unnecessarily. That needs to be archived in the Breakup 101.
  19. Haha true. I'm fine now speaking English, but I'm actually ashamed to make Dutch people hear me try to talk their language... even though I understand them perfectly and it is/was/used to be my second mother tongue.
  20. One guy I used to fly with only utilized text chat and quickly got the name 'Fingers'. Using text for comms always makes me aware of how much important info isn't communicated because it's too cumbersome. Talking on TS is (or rather: becomes) natural-er very quickly.
  21. You want to keep an eye on it, make sure it fits your group, and the other users understand the concept. Also, talk to the guests to see (haha, hear) what they think. If they get bored or feel excluded, that might be bad in the long run.
  22. I agree, great post. Language is indeed an unfortunate limitation, but I think groups need to deal with it. There's no point in having Teamspeak when you need to dedicate half your neurons to trying to figure out what that guy is trying to say. Comment on the last paragraph: I found that a separated Teamspeak with Guest/Lounge/Flight Areas works well. New members can use the open Guest part and get used to the concept of TS. Everyone can and will move them into the lounge to socialize, say Hello and get to know each other, and the Flight Channels are exactly for that - people get moved in and out of there if they fly in the lounge or chat in the flight channels.
