Thanks for this thread. I* was playing Rollercoaster Tycoon A LOT when I was young(er), and always had a lot of fun with the coasters, but never heard about this project at all. I have too many other things I want to play in the next year, but I'll keep an eye on this. *No, I'm not** 'Sweetest's Oldest,' LOL):megalol: **At least to the best of my knowledge:music_whistling:

Hi! .Sheep

Originally, I intended the video to be an academic curiosity, but it seems well-suited to teach how to use the CDU. I put a step by step in the video description when I made it.

The German translation needs support, because in the long run, I cannot reliably translate for updates in a timely manner. This coming update is certainly going to be ready in time, so don't worry. @GG Suppose I'm happily motoring along in my SPAAG, and my radar is "slightly challenged". Suppose further that I get a contact. Do you mean that I'm going to stick my head out to get other intel, then see "Holy Cow, that's a (insert random airframe here)" and that info gets up to battalion and back? :D Ok seriously, I think your suggestion is good :P

The CDU section in the manual is an advanced form of anesthesia. I suggest you play around with it, read a bit about what it can do, and then look at Youtube for some videos about how to do that. Then get in the sim and try it yourself - it's not like you can break the thing, and even if you would, you can reload ;)

That's not what I wanted to say. #108 is correct in illustrating why a $$$ for the kit is acceptable, but I was referring to the notion that a kit should compute a TVV. That makes the whole thing even more complicated, complex, expensive, failure-prone, you get the point. While I have no idea how the actual thing works, I can think of multiple ways to implement guidance, some are nice, some are pragmatic, some are overdone.
-
That sounds pretty expensive for a generally disposable item.

Wrong wording. Efficient, if the target is static. Dangerous, because you're likely well within range of something and spend time manipulating your avionics. If the target moves I'd prefer to pick it up again visually. But that's now, finally, really off topic.
-
That's possible, but I think not the most efficient way.

Mark Z stores the IFFCC-generated SPI at the point in time the trigger/pickle was pressed. In other words, the impact's location. Edit: That doesn't hold all water. What if the release is in CCRP? Then the IFFCC doesn't compute a point on the ground (I think).

@Sith: You can't :P , and there isn't anything in the Forum Rules about moving threads. Maybe there is a Moderator's Rules Handbook, but I'm not subject to that (luckily) ;) @V: That's a kind of a bummer. Lord of War:

Arrg, and I can't rep your for the insight LOL Psst Sith, could we scheme to move this thread to somewhere else for a couple of seconds while nobody is looking?:music_whistling:

I can't give any rep here at all. Have mods shot down the thread to avoid rep inflation? When I have some time, I'll stalk your old posts to find some that work..

Did I mention the system 'toopid?:

Flip your CDU steer point dial to Mark mode, then select them as you would switch through waypoints :) Edit: See below. I didn't remember that the Mrk Point has to be made Spi...

Board keeps telling me I need to spread some rep before I can do something useful with it again. Post below if you want some of it coming your way :) That sounds about right to me:

Perfekt erfasst, perfekt gelöst, dankeschön!

(I haven't dropped one in a couple of months) Do they miss, do they hit some other point, or do they show decreased accuracy?
-
That is in line with the mechanics, but not within the expected accuracy intervals that have been discussed here. LOL @ #69, btw.

Sheep

Correct, I was :) BTW: I encourage everyone to try the above

Anyways, the result of doing the above will be that the SPI is constantly re-computed to where the CCIP pipper is, and the TGP is constantly slewing (better. trying to slew) to that point. The slightest movement on the stick has the SPI all over the place, the TGP spinning equally fast, and you'll always see where your weapon would hit if fired in that instant (and where the Mark Z would be set). Manual pages for reference: 88 and 400, Set SPI submode is the item of relevance for this finger exercise.

Apparently, I did, at least.
