You can use the buttons in the cockpit. There are two switches left of the dials on the left side. Put both on and you'll figure out which does what.

My problem with rockets is a lack of shrapnel. Surely this does more damage to infantry?
-
Thanks Jack, I'll give that a go!

I've tried a lot of these buttons, but with no success. Anyone know a sure fire way to do it?

How do we do this? A number of times I've suffered engine damagage and had to drive home. Would be nice to lose a little weight and see if that's enough to get me up in the air. Is the Mi8 able to fly with one engine like the KA50, or is it just enough power to bring you down to the ground without blowing up?

Waiting for first discount on DCS: Mi-8MTV2
Slazi replied to captainteemo's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
Not at all. A lot of people have had the chance to buy a brand new beta product at a 60% discount. Those who bought it for full price will be given the chance to save money in the future. People who want to buy release on day one in the future to support the developers and show their interest will know that they won't be seeing a massive sale two weeks later, or if they do, they will be compensated. I will continue to purchase on day one. If this announcement wasn't made, I would always wait for sales. Win win. The only people who would lose out are people of very limited finances who have no choice but to wait for a sale. That's an unfortunate situation, but it is not the majority of the customer base. The other option is just to release the product at $20. Far less than it is worth. -

Faith restored. Great move. You've kept your loyal customers happy and more likely to continue buying full priced products instead of waiting for sales. Really happy to see that. -

I was happy to pay $50 dollars to support the developers, but to see it in a 60% off sale a few weeks later... 15-20% I could deal with. 60 is very dissapointing. Im still happy I bought it, but as a customer, its a real problem to see such practices. How about making it up to the original customers by giving them free beta on your next product? -
With the shark you need to trim A LOT. Every time you change speed, altitude, heading. If you trim it pitched up, the speed is dropping a little while the altitude is increasing. Both of these factors will require you to trim it again. It takes a while to get used to it. It is nothing like a plane. But its a great machine to fly. Best way to get used to it is just fly it, a lot. Don't worry about using weapons. Just get used to how it handels. If something strange happens, try to do it again and figure out why.

Flight Engineer - is he necessary? :o)
Slazi replied to Flagrum's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
Massage for the stiff shoulders? My flight engineer would be hot as hell! -
Are you still having problems with arming the weapons? It should be fairly easy. On any mission, after the helo has been started, using Right CTRL-SHIFT 1,2,3. Then make sure the master arm button is up and then look behind and above your left shoulder. You will see a single large red lever you can pull. Pull this and you should be all good.

What a great helicopter, thanks Belsimtek!

Try flying it with no weapons and less fuel. It feels far more responsive when its not at 100% weight. -
Yeah, the grenades take a lot of getting used to, thats for sure. Perhaps in hover or low speeds against mass ground targets they may be useful. Not much use against anything able to shoot back. I wish I could mount regular guns on the outer pods.

How do you get that 32 shot launcher on the outer pylon? I cant even select it in the mission editor!!!

No english cockpit language for the Mi-8?
Slazi replied to Nereid's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
I want the English version to be exactly the same as the russian, but with post it notes all over the place :) -
1. Pretty sure this isn't implemented yet. 2) ? Is this a question?
-
There's a spot for a gun that you can see when you open the rear cargo doors, so a rear gunner would be a good idea. But until there's gunner AI it's not really that important.
-
Even if it did only see at that rate, we don't yet have the technology to sync it to a monitors refresh :)
-
I had a look, but there's a lot of stuff it doesn't cover so I dont bother going back to it. 4) Pretty sure this is a fixed length now.

30fps makes most games unplayable for me. The moment is too jerky. I can just about put up with 20fps in this game, but I feel really uncomfortable with it. I'd love to see this engine throwing out >60. FPS games - 60fps minimum. Anything under that is a waste of time. Best way to test if you can see any difference between 20/60/100 fps is to run games locked at that rate, then rotate the camera around as quickly as possible. You'll almost certainly notice the difference. Edit -Track IR is horrible at low FPS as the screen refreshes too slowly to use it properly. Thats my main problem with low fps in DCS.
