Listen to Carrier Pilot by Norman Hanson on Audible. https://www.audible.co.uk/pd/B073VTJJTG?source_code=ORGOR69210072400FU Very interesting, I didn't realise that the US navy weren't keen, and farmed it off to the Marines for land based ops and the Royal Navy, that would accept anything that was just about carrier capable. It's a great book that I read a few years ago, and the Audible version is well narrated and certainly gives you a feel for the time. It's also interesting how he describes the sensitivity of the "flight model" and how in 3 days they'd crashed 3 and killed one pilot.

How to move saved games folder to different drive?

Hi Gunfreak, Did you fix it? I have the same. -
£200, but I've got a lot of switches there. Being able to configure it to what you want is pure genius. Every button box I looked at was just poorly laid out for what I wanted. You can set the switches to different orientations, if you look I have the centre at 90 degrees, for the engine crank.

I have just put this one together. Using it to sit behind my throttle and I believe it has plenty of utility for various planes. So simple to put together. I put it together while the kettle boiled for a cup of tea. It's that quick! It's really good.

Cheers, I've been using DCS for 14 years and had always set Main to my headphones and and had no recollection of setting the headphones setting below.
-
Hi, I use a headphones and a Quest pro, but only want to hear all DCS audio through the headphones The headphones are set to main audio, and I hear engine noises and SRS perfectly through these, but not aircraft systems. However I hear AI radio, and aircraft system sounds, 9x Growl, Bitching Betty etc. through the Quest pro. I cannot figure how to change this. The headphones are set to default in Windows 11. I have done a repair in windows, I have hear like in helmet checked, ( but it doesn't make a difference), headphones set as main audio and set to stereo. Cheers Andrew

As most of us don't have real life experience, it would be easy to add effects and forces that aren't realistic. I'm not one to say you shouldn't do this, we're mostly middle aged men sat in our office / study trying to have fun after all. That's what's so great about these sticks you can have it however you like, personally I'm after a close representation of the real thing, without the extra bits.

That's superb and very informative, thankyou very much. The breakout force is interesting, I shall stiffen it up and check the critical dampening. Thanks again.

Thanks for the replies. I'll make the fa18 like my virpil sprung base!
-
As someone that has just bought a FFB Base, I'm looking for a description of how it should feel. I mainly fly the FA18, but also the huey and spitfire. For instance, is the joystick loose in the 18 when started but not moving, how stiff do the controls get when pulling G? Should there be much spring? In the Spit when cold, is everything balanced and so easy to move, or can you feel resistance in the linkages? The huey must be stiff as board before all the hydraulics are working, but in flight I believe the controls are light as a feather, but maybe I'm wrong. Never having flown anything in real life, I can only use my imagination, but I know some of you are GA pilots and have more of an idea with experience. There's so much info on brands of bases but no real descriptions of what the controls should feel like. Cheers Andrew

RAF Air Squadron pilot recruiting
Andrew u.k. replied to Andrew u.k.'s topic in General DCS Squadrons
Another good multi squadron mission on Thursday. These are flown once a month with squadron missions every week. We're a thriving active group in the UK. Tacview-20250225-200654-DCS-Client-Operation Kopis_JO_RAFAir1.zip.acmi -
Raf Air have several squadrons. We fly the A10, AV-8B , F16, F14 and the F/A18. We are a UK based group but have members world wide. https://discord.gg/abzFJ9ssRv Joint ops nights are flown once a month, and all squadrons run training and mission nights. I fly with 41f, one of the the two FA18 squadrons within RAF Air, we fly low level using RAF procedures from the tail end of the cold war. This make for thrilling and entertaining missions, one of our members created a video explaining how we run a mission. We are always accepting new members, please see discord link above. Also attached is a Tacview of our latest joint mission. Tacview-20250128-195552-DCS-Client-T01-Operation Blinding Fire.zip.acmi

I'm about to stick mine on ebay UK if anyone wants it? I've not flown the A10 in quite a few years so it would be good if someone could get some use out of it.

fixed Quest Pro Extreme Jitter while looking forward using quad view
Andrew u.k. replied to Tomcat388th's topic in VR Bugs
Same here, Quest Pro. Now I know it's not just me I'll skip the bit where I muck up all my settings and just wait for a fix. Time to do some mission design instead. -
Looks like it's the mission date, pre GPS.

After my normal cold start I'm getting some different results from before the last patch. Normal cold start Ground take off. After getting an engine going I > Turn ins to ground Box Stored heading on HSI Wait for the OK Turn knob to IFA. Normally the HSI would let me box Auto after moving off. Button 16 I think. Now I see displayed LAND-MENU-SEA. What am I doing wrong? Cheers
