  1. Interesting. I don't even see a rectangle (Firefox).
  2. Yeah, you're probably right, I can definitely follow your reasoning. (but we will probably never know, like you said)
  3. Maybe for access from Poland only.
  4. Yeah, I believe those two crew members are really a challenge. Great book btw. And if you like it, and happen to like the F-4 as well, I can also recommend the author's second book "Palace Cobra". For a further F-105 fix take "Thud Ridge" by Jack Broughton.
  5. Agree. Great job digging up that stuff! :)

    I-16

Yeah, of course. We are used to that. Still IMO it is always nice to hear something from a third party.
  7. One can dream, Snoopy! :)
  8. Well, it is easy to say that it wasn't covered well by a sim, because there weren't many games in the past that one would consider a simulation by today's standards. It was included in Jane's USAF though, and I enjoyed flying it back then. Strike Fighters 2 also had it IIRC but I never played that. I'd like to have it in DCSW too, but if I have the choice between F-4 and F-105 I'd still pick the F-4 I think.
  9. I think I read somewhere that you can adjust the pixel density for the Vive in some Steam menu. EDIT: Perhaps this thread will help you: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=169141 No clue about the rest, sorry.
  10. I think so. Not quite sure if it is necessary for a day one implementation though. But I wonder: Do you think it would be possible to have a window with a frequency list that you can edit (and that shows a number indicating on which radio you are listening on that frequency), and then maybe just either - drag and drop a frequency from the list onto a radio? OR - click on a frequency in the list and then press a number key from 1 to 0 to put the frequency to the according radio? OR - when clicking on a frequency on the list there is a small drop-down-list to enter it in one of the radios?

    I-16

Judging by DCSW standards, Q42016 is VERY close to completion! So that's why I am asking, I am interested in this bird. No hurry, just a question. :)
  12. Very impressive looking, thanks for posting! I wonder if engines like that one can also be used for simulation purposes though. Do they simulate thermals? And do those clouds overdevelop for example? Because THAT would be super awesome.

    I-16

With the P-40 from VEAO nearing its completion it would be a nice coincidence to have the I-16 rather soon as well, because it is of similar vintage and they could complement (or even fight) each other quite nicely I think. So, Plexus, any news you'd like to share? :)
  14. Did you try to link something? Because I don't see a link. Man, wouldn't it be cool if DCSW had proper weather modeling, including thermals? Then someone could make a simple glider mod (AFM but hardly any systems modeling needed, only a handful of instruments) and we could soar over the Caucasus or Nevada... :) Octopus-g could adapt their Blanik to DCS, and then someone could do a DG-1000 including a USAF livery (no joke, it is used in real life!) :D
  15. I'd say eight to ten radios would be nice for AWACS / GCI / ATC if that is possible. While setting up the ATC / AWACS guy would choose which of his radios work on which frequencies. EDIT: Clarification: That's because I think in many missions the AWACS guy will double as ATC/tower/ground. So counting: - ATC/tower/ground - main strike freq. - FAC(A) - ground forces - guard - four extra frequencies, for different purposes EDIT: I guess it depends on the workload for the guys, You could do it with four radios. But... wow. Lots of switching.
  16. The F-22 is considerably more modern and automated than both of those. Just look at the cockpit. EDIT: Although I am ready to admit that it could be kinda interesting in some aspects, just like a Eurofighter. Still if I have the choice, I'd pick any 4th gen aircraft over the F-22.
  17. IMHO the F-22 is a boring plane. Too new, too much "automated".
  18. Oh no, don't give them more ideas!
  19. Oh dear, F-16A would be the ultimate troll move indeed. :D
  20. Fresh air surely helped me when I got sick in a glider during a longer flight. Flying lots of circles is really taking its toll. That way I managed to not barf into the cockpit. :)
  21. Hey, where's the MiG-23!? :D I kinda agree though. I like the Viper and would love to have it in DCSW, but I'd like to have other planes with a higher priority. (especially since we have an F-18 then so my desire for a multi-role western jet will finally be fulfilled)
  22. +1 Thanks for the update! :)
  23. Yeah, I definitely remember that statement from VEAO if that's what you mean. But that one which I mean was - I think - posted not many months after the time when those WIP F-16 pictures from ED appeared on the forums, which I think was before the A-10C release, like....2008 or so. Those spawned a lot of discussion back then, especially since there weren't any news anymore about the F-16's status (or whether it was planned for a playable release at all, or just a new AI model) EDIT: Some time after this post: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=503375&postcount=343 EDIT2: And now that I think about it, if it was back in 2008 they didn't say BMS because that wasn't a thing until 2011. Also I love how they posted WIP pictures back then.... good times. EDIT3: Also I am sad now. Reading old threads with guys posting in them that are long gone from the community, some even died. :(
  24. Strange, I remember that as well. Someone associated with ED (dev or moderator, I don't remember) wrote something along the lines of "blablabla several reasons, the elephant in the room being 'that other sim', blabla, big risk because of that blabla something something." EDIT: Don't remember the year, I think it was during the time when I didn't post here, so between 2006 and 2011. Or shortly after that. EDIT2: Or maybe my memory is much worse than I thought and I am mixing up something I might or might not have read from ED's direction with something I definitely read more than once from VEAO (pman)...
  25. I played some free nintendo-style VR game on the GearVR, and I noticed that as long as I am standing still everything is fine, but I get sick after just a minute of walking. As for non-VR motion sickness: When first using a TrackIR with the Black Shark (before DCSW) I also had problems with the motion sickness for a while. So I looked up some recipes for sea sickness and found out about ginger. I made my own ginger lemonade and ginger tea, and I shortened my flight sessions to not more than 20minutes with the TIR on. It was important to stop the TIR before getting sick (in my case a slight headache is the first sign of motion sickness), and then I did that every day for two weeks, playing slightly longer every few days. After two weeks I was fine for 1 hour flights. It also helped to play in a brightly lit room and to sit a bit further away from the screen. Big screens make it worse, and VR makes it much worse. Reducing (or even better: disabling) motion blur and depth-of-field effects also helps a lot. In FPS head bobbing is also a HUGE contributor to motion sickness, and so are vibrations in a car or plane, as well as bad frame rates. If I ever get my VR working for DCSW I will try and do the same.
