  1. The F-22 is the aircraft I have hoped for most in DCS. I know that everything is highly classified but if they can at least make it believable, I will take that. More than anything, I want properly modeled thrust vectoring; I would have so much fun with that. Their version for FSX did not model it (understandable). I have high hopes for this.
  2. Ok, I cannot stop thinking about this quote here. I bought FSX about a month ago because I wanted to try something new and I saw there was an F-22 add on. As far as avionics go, I know that it would not be remotely like the F-22. I was however hoping it would handle really cool with the thrust vectoring. Yeah, the add on definitely didn't include that. Anyways, I cannot believe how slow FSX runs. The amount of tweaks required is ridiculous in order to get even 20 FPS. "Terminal nerd rage" is THE way to describe this game. Ever since I saw this quote I have been randomly cracking up at various times throughout the day. It is just so perfect is describing the game.
  3. Wow, thanks for this mission. I've watched Zero Dark Thirty at least 15 times and read everything about the mission that I can find that is credible. Can't wait to give this a try. I sure would love to see a Blackhawk add on module someday.
  4. I eventually had more problems even after it came back fixed. I gave up and just bought the FSSB R3 force sensing mod for the stick. Now the stick doesn't move more than a few millimeters in each direction. No having to worry about movement anymore.
  5. I too prefer realism over a half-baked feature. If it can't be fully and realistically implemented, I would not want it either. Maybe someday... I read about the updated A-10C features from that newer -1 and boy there sure are a bunch of new goodies I would love to have.
  6. Yep, fully understood. It is merely a wish. I hope that the upcoming F-18 and F-15 can support HMCS.
  7. Sorry to resurrect an old thread... If there is one thing I have been wishing for in DCS, it is HMCS. There was a recent -1 posted that included a section for HMCS in the A-10C and the theoretical usefulness of it seemed so awesome. I can't tell you how many times I visually find something and then when I go to get my TGP on it, I've lost it. How nice would it be to look at it and mark it via HMCS? Being able to view your wingman's SPI's, also quite useful. I sure hope that one of the in development aircraft has HMCS of some sort. That was probably my favorite thing about BMS. Anyways, that is my wish for DCS.
  8. Oh. I did not know that. Even better then.
  9. I take many screenshots. I have hundreds and hundreds of other ones. Such a screenshot worthy game. Some screenshots from a session the other day. None of us were on Teamspeak. It is nice when people just know to work together. Also, VTB_Ray is a pretty amazing [virtual] pilot. EDIT: ...and apparently, real pilot too... 10. On the subject of the Trackclip pro; it is so flimsy. I ordered a second to keep as a spare. I opted to make my Trackclip completely wireless. I have the Logitech G930 headset which is wireless and then I stuck a rechargeable battery pack to the headset and also attached the Trackclip. It easier just to look at the picture below. Having a completely wireless headset along with a wireless Trackclip is the best.
  11. So I just spent about half a day reformatting my main drive to the Windows 8 RTM (build 9200) and my game is crashing every time I exit a mission. Before it gets to the debrief it will crash to desktop. I have an Nvidia GTX 580 with the latest drivers. All my other drivers are up-to-date as well. Attached is a text file with three crash logs copied and pasted into it. DCS Crash Logs - Three Combined.txt Fuzzysham - DxDiag.txt
  12. I have no idea how it works but I gave it a shot and it worked out. I thought it would prevent me from logging in at the same time with the same account but nothing stopped it. DCS World doesn't require activation so it works out somehow. The screenshot below shows it in action. The high pings are due to me running through a VPN to ensure it could be seen in the main list. When you run another server on your internal network it only shows on the LAN list even when you select Internet for the game. So I ran a VPN through London (I'm in Washington D.C. area).
  13. I am able to run DCS World within a Windows 8 VM on my MacBook Pro. DCS World is free so I just run that on my Mac and play using my main desktop which I own every DCS module. Seems like it will melt my laptop because the fans are always spinning at high speeds but it works nonetheless.
  14. I ordered two of those monitors last night solely based on this thread. Clear instructions, minimalistic setup and I already had the cougar MFD's. I can't wait to get them. In this game and Falcon BMS, the mfd's have always been the thing I wanted on an external display. TrackIR is a bit irritating. Thanks for the instructions.
  15. Will seed soon as mine finishes. You guys download more than any other tracker I seed to. Prior to upgrading to a new server slot, I had uploaded like a terabyte of data to the eagle tracker. I am almost there again for DCS A-10. Can't wait to see how much I upload of Combined Arms. All I know is that when I used to attempt to download torrents it took forever. Figured I would remedy that by seeding 24/7 by renting a seed box. Hopefully it helps everyone.
  16. Have to agree with you guys, rendering 4:3 to a 16:9 display is just bizarre. Maybe it is a personal preference?
  17. Thanks for keeping us updated.
  18. Excellent video. I have always found the TrackIR to be tricky to use and setup. I've used your profile but it's weird, after I turn my virtual head past about 90 degrees or so, my head starts to roll. For zoom, I use the mic thumb button on the throttle of the TM Warthog to zoom in and out. The less actual movement of my head the better. Anyways, thanks for posting. Same goes for all of your videos.
  19. Arghhh. I wish I could check out this patch. I haven't played in 16 days now. I had to send back my Warthog base to Canada (from Virginia) for repair and they haven't received it yet and it was sent on December 1st. I'm on the verge of buying a whole new Warthog. Having an extra throttle would just be stupid though. A friend has a CH Fighterstick Pro I could borrow but it feels weird and the centering of it is very quirky and jittery. I have been waiting all year for the holiday to come around so I could spend countless hours playing this and I end up without a stick. A new patch coming out right before the holiday is making me nuts. I'm off from work starting next week till January 2nd. I could be playing the game the whole time. This is compounded by the fact that I think I may be getting a touch screen monitor for Helios for Christmas. Hint, sharing your Amazon wishlist is useful :) I may not be able to play the game but I downloaded the torrent on to my seedbox. As with the previous patch, I will permanently seed it (202Mbps upload speed). Happy holidays.
  20. This. I have wondered this as well.
  21. Definitely nice products, I have them all as well. Except I have the Pro Combat Pedals, those big fat metal ones. I will probably just send him my keyboard, rudder and Warthog config. I added minor tweaks such as using the radio button on the throttle to zoom in and out and snap views to the CDU and radios. I will be around to give him a step by step tutorial and force him to get past the first hurdle or starting up the jet. He is going to wonder why I am sending back my Warthog for repair, just as he gets his. That can't look good. I am having trouble parting with mine. This game is a damn addiction. :helpsmilie:
  22. Awesome sale. At the last moment of this sale I realized that I should purchase the game for my step father who I know used to play flight sims prior to Half Life 2 era. I showed him this game once with my whole setup and he seemed interested. I sure hope this game isn't too much for him to handle jumping back into sims again. Especially after playing shooters and the occasional strategy game (Civ, Company of Heroes). Play shooters for too long and your attention span and patience goes to zero. I kind of feel like I'm forcing this game on him but I know if I can show him how to start the plane and drop some bombs, he will be hooked...also, I want a wingman. Between my mother and I, we bought him the Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR, Trackclip Pro and the TM Warthog. I bought the TM Warthog and Trackclip Pro, my mother bought the rest. He is getting the whole shebang all at once. Lots of big, heavy boxes for Christmas is always the best thing. No matter how old you are, you always like those things. I know I do (I'm 26) and I know he does. All of this stuff arrives today at some point. Holidays are going to be good this year. Lots of game time.
  23. Hey, I didn't mean to knock your program or boarder2's. You guys both have excellent programs that excel in certain areas and have drawbacks in others. Props to both you guys. I finally figured out how to setup ipadpit. There were just so many included instruction files that it confused me which to look at and some of the typos confused me as well. Personally, I can live without live MFD's or CDU but I'm not a huge fan of replacing my keyboard config unlike boarder2's program where I don't need to. I'm torn between the two programs so I'll wait to see what the future holds for both programs and I will just deal with clicking in the cockpit for now. At the moment, iWarthogHD is the most useful iPad program to me. I have no doubt that your program and boarder2's will get better and better.
  24. I've tried that but it is awkward and kind of hurts my bum the way I'm forced to sit. I will give it another go and see if I can get it to work.
