GTX 1080 is an old favourite card of mine, still ok for DCS with lower / medium settings. As long as you dont expect to run everything on high settings you will be ok. But I understand wanting to try before you buy. I can ask the team about the trial but can not promise anything currently.

Have any of you manually edited hosts in your C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts ? It seems some people have edited this in the past and it is creating problems for some Open C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts in notepad, check for api.digitalcombatsimulator.com line and delete, then save. ( if it is not there dont worry ) Then retry the update.
